good morning,
I have been traveling for 2 weeks and coming back home I discovered that my beosound 5 encore was not working ...It did not respond to remote control or touch commands
following some advices in this forum , I unplugged it for 10 minutes and , when reconnected
After I was asked for the pin code and entering it , the screen displays (in french)
bang & olufsen
verification du systeme
ne pas mettre l'appareil hors tension
wich translate into : system verification, do not switch off
this displays stay on for hours with no change
any suggestions ?
thank you in advance
Hi,
might be due to a corrupted SD card. All settings, MOTS data and everything that is cached is stored on that card. If there is a problem with a database it might prevent it from booting properly.
Two solutions:
1) give it to your dealer. Repair will be costly as they will be probably replacing the whole streaming engine.
2) if you are used to work on electronic devices you can also replace the SD card on your own. Unfortunately the whole Encore needs to be dismantled TOTALLY for this. Click HERE and navigate to "internal photos" to get an insight. Once you put in a new and freshly formatted card (can't remember whether it was FAT32 or ext2), it should boot up properly and start building new databases.
BR,BeoMotion.
thank you for that suggestion: I will give it a look and get back to you
Thank you so much
I did change the SD card: the original card is a 8 GB scandisk which I replaced by a 16 GB of the same brand ( I had it home) which I formatted in fat 32..
the beosound came back to "life" : I can see my music, go through it with the wheels , change from music to radio with the remote but there are still some ( major ) issues:
- there is no sound comming either from the speakers or from the headset
-I cannot shuffle through my music with the remote ( although I can shuffle through the music with the wheel and I can shuffle through the favorite radio stations with the remote)
maybe I replaced one of the connectors incorrectly ?
Don't know if the BS5-E sports a long life battery (to remember the settings for example), but it may be worth checking this...

Okay, great that it worked for you. At lease your Encore does boot now.
Which speakers have you connected? Do they switch on or will they stay completely in standby mode?Have you connected your headset for testing to the correct jack? Line-in and HP-out can easily be mixed up...If everything else does work fine there is only a very little chance that this is due to missing internal connections.
If MOTS calculation is not finished you have to select the whole album to play. Then you can use the arrows on the remote for the next/prev title. If you select a single song with the wheel and and press GO you cannot go to the next title using the remote if MOTS calculation is not finished. At least this is the behavior I can remember...

No there is no battery but a supercap as far as I can remember. This is only for keeping the RTC alive and has nothing to do with settings. Anyway, all the settings and caches will be lost after formatting or replacing the SD card.
Hi there,
I know this is an old discussion but it helped me identify that the SD card was not working. Problem i have now is that after every part is back the Beosound is dead. No lights, nothing. Anyone have an idea what could have gone wrong? I checked every module one more time, the connections etc...
I checked the power supply and i have only the standby 7V,
Thanks in advance for any opinion.
