Our Beo5 remote was sent to LifestyleAV for a much needed battery change as it wasn't holding any charge and wasn't charging but it now won't operate any of the programmed menus. Rather than call out an engineer in a home visit to reconfigure it would it be cheaper to buy the new Beoremote 1 and does it have all the PUC and programming preloaded or does it also need programming?

I've tried and tried to use the BeoRemote 1, but I just can't stand using it after using the Beo5/6. I suggest that you download the configuration software and give a try at programming it yourself. It's actually quite easy and fun. The beauty of the Beo5/6 is that you can totally customize it to fit YOUR individual needs. For example, you can re-order the buttons in a way that is logical and ergonomic to you. I found it useful to use a different color for the buttons of the most-used controls, such as "Guide" and "List" for the DVR. This is quite useful when you can't find your reading glasses! You can hide the buttons that you don't use or store them in a sub-page. If you have a BLGW, you can organize all of the home automation such as lights, fans, projector, screen, and HVAC in the "Scene" area. In my opinion, no one can program the remote as well as you can -- since it's you who will be using it.

That's helpful but is the configuration tool available for MAC?

1.the Beoremote 1 will work if in the "Beo4" modus

2. the PUC's are preloaded in your tv not in the remote

No, you need to use Windows on your Mac with Bootcamp or as a virtual machine with Parallels http://www.parallels.com/eu/

I will see if powering down the TV and also powering down the remote using the central nipple shaped button works. If not, we may need to send it in for diagnosis and reprogramming.

Thank you all for your advice. I appreciate the the time and effort people go to supporting each other for gratis. This is a great forum because of its generosity.

You might try switching between the default factory configuration and your custom configuration in the Setup screen and see if you get the same behavior. You enter the Setup screen by pushing the center button and the standby button at the same time.
