Hi to all,
I recently bought a pair of BeoLab 1. Really nice speaker by the way !
One is working fine but the other one has a problem:
The LED turns green when I switch on my BeoCenter 9500 but there is no bass, the two bass are not working at all. The midrange and/or the tweeter are/is working.
I took apart both bass on my defective speaker and checked the voltage with a multimeter. I have 0.0V at both bass speaker.
Had a look at the amplifier/power supply but nothing obvious.
So my question is: what should I check first on the amplifier board ?
Thanks for your time and your advices.
Regards
Tobias
So, this morning I had a deeper look into my BeoLab 1.
After severals test, the tweeter is the only one working. No woofer or medium.
Checked the fuse all ok.
Anybody has a wiring diagram for the BeoLab 1 ?
Search for Beolab 1 "service manual", might be found online.
Basic test but if you're comfortable taking things apart, try and determine if the amplifier or the drivers themselves are at fault. See if there's a low-ish (3-7 ohm) DC resistance across the woofer drivers out of circuit. If it reads open or possibly 0r, drivers are cooked. Read across amplifier leads not connected, should read something on ACV when playing. If not amps are at fault. You can confirm by swapping drivers and amplifier chassis from the other functional unit.
Whilst not impossible, from your description both woofers are not likely to be dead, probably amplifier is where you should look.
Good luck.
Thanks for your answer davidr.
Unfortunately the service manual has no diagram.
As asked, I checked the three drivers everything is fine ! Tried to read the ohm and voltage when playing with the lead disconnected from the amp board, and I have nothing.
For me the amplifier board is dead, I'll confirm that diagnostic by swapping the boards.
If the board is dead, is someone able to fix the board (with no diagrom that's a bit hard for me).
Find a second hand?
B&O don't supply this item anymore.
Thanks for your help davidr.
If it turns out to be the actual woofers at fault, I think I actually have a couple!
I believe B&O still fix the Beolab 1. Replacing either the woofer or the board is problematic by ones self.. There are some pots that need altering to get the sound calibrated.
Alternately or failing the above you could try the line in connection . Ensuring the source is set to the lowest volume. I have seen the speaker overload protection kick in which stops them working normally. Incidentally the same can happen if they are connected to powerlink but switched to line in mode....Could this have happened?
Hope this helps.
Beoaus.
IT'S NOT DEAD !!
I finally source a BeoLab 1 for parts, and swap the amp board and the power supply, adjust the sound settings and call it a day.
Now I have a defective amp board, so if someone know somebody that's able to fix these, I can send it over !
Thanks for your help guys. Not the best repair ever done, but at least it's working.
Have a nice day/evening.
Cheers !
You can send the amplifier over for repair.
Send me a pm if you're interested.
Hi BeoBuddy, I've sent you a email one minute ago. Let me know if you don't get it.
Thanks
