Hi all, I'm after MMC5 (or any from 1-5 for that matter) and just came across this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130759999497?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 the price seem unusually low and I can have it shipped to my mum in KY for close to nothing) - I'm restoring Beocenter 2200 (doesn't have stylus or cartridge for that matter.

cheers

It has no stylus so you will have to repair it, check with Axel in Germany for prices for retipping or retipped with housing.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Forget it. It may have broken windings for all we know and you will waste your money.

Just buy a refurbished MMC4 from Axel.

It is the safest bet.

Agree with Graham, but here two retippers in the US, Soundsmith, Benny Armina

Thank you - Just checked "Axel" it's hard to swallow  the price on unit which goes for under £100 restored (one just been sold on eBay with stylus and renewed belts for £50) I've got this one from charity shop and at present use it in bedroom Whistle

There should be B&O in every room - I believe Big Smile

Thank you ever so much for the links (I like these prices bit better (considering item in US now), but also find used MMC 5 on eBay USA - we'll see how it goes, thanks for your time, reply  and links in particular :)

I have a retipped MMC4 from Benny, and a retipped MMC3000 from Soundsmith.  Both are great.  However, I believe Soundsmith will not retip the newer MMCx series unless it's a 1 or 2, and I believe Benny only retips as a 4 and only if the current cartridge's cantilever and stylus are intact.

Thank you all for your replies - I've bought it anyway (cost me less than cup of Srabucks) and will be sending it Axel for estimate, shall it be not repairable - I've lost more in my lifetime and Axel can use parts for other 1
