Hey there,

I'm in a dilemma, and I thought this is the best place to collect some advice. I'm super happy to be part of this community as I grew up with a grandma especially close to the B&O Brand and their design approach has always inspired me. Today is the day when I want to invest in some speaker for my home, I use to have a Harman Kardon Soundstick for a few year, but now is time to have an iconic object to display.

I can access to a kit of Beolab 6000 from 1994 for 600$ in excellent condition, and I was wondering is you think it's a good investment. I will connect them to a wireless system tbd. I did a bit of research, and I don't feel the woofer & tweeter are so much different then what they are currently able to bring in a smaller box. But of course, there is more...

What do you think? Is it a good investment, or if I should rather go for something more recent in this price range, e.g., Beolit 17?

I happy to read all your suggestions and thoughts.
Thanks for sharing!

I have a pair that I've owned since 1996. I still use them, and they sound great, not to mention that the BL 6000 design is a classic piece by the late David Lewis and featured in the New York Museum of Modern Art.

BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.

As long as the seals are fine, they are great. Have you checked behind the frets?

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Thanks for the fast replies! @hungedu, do you consider the sound as clear as some more recent releases? yeah, I check behind the frets and everything is in good shape. The lady was the only owner and she still have the bill ahah. The seals are in pretty too, perhaps they are a little bit dry, should I do something? I watched some videos on YouTube about it... what do you think @chris

Very subjective this question so if you like them then ultimately you should buy them and enjoy them. For me, the 6000s (which I have owned before) only really suited rear speakers in a 5.1 dolby setup with 8000s at the front and a sub. They are very apt for that purpose but I would not use them as main speakers in a stereo setup musically. They lack base (in my opinion) and are not powerful enough. My choice was (and has been in the past) a pair of 4000s that have a wonderful warm sound to them and can handle pretty much anything you throw at them. Best thing is to have a listen to the 6000s and the 4000s if you can before purchase. The 17s are the modern version of the 4000s if you like although I would still choose the original 4000s if I could find a pair in excellent condition. You do need to have them checked over as suggested in the above post. Cheers, Simon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Answer the lack of bass can be answered by daisy chaining the 6000s off a BL11

BeoNut since '75
