Hi all,

I have a Beosound 9000 linked to an Avant and via a masterlink to some Beolab 4000 speakers in another room. All has been working fine until yesterday when I changed the cds. Since then, the Beosound 9000 has been switching itself on and off, playing part of a cd and going on to another one, opening and closing its door...

I have tried to unplug the masterlink from the 9000 with no luck so instead I have switched off the masterlink at the plug and also the Beolab 4000 speakers and it is still doing its own thing.

Any ideas would be very welcome.

I have cleaned the pyramids.

Fingers crossed someone can help!

Thanks in advance

That is an interesting problem you seem to have. Whilst there are various faults which can cause it to switch off and on, playing a CD and then going to the next one would require the BS9000 to receive a signal from the remote or perhaps the remote control circuit has an fault in the BS9000.

Have you removed your remote (Beo4 I expect) from the room and started the CD from the BS9000 in case the Beo4 is playing up, perhaps with a low battery?

Regards Keith....

Hi Keith, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I've taken the batteries out of the Beo4 remotes which are downstairs, cleaned it again, disconnected the aerial and all was quiet...until 5 mins when it's off again!  It's like someone is pressing the remote switching cds and tracks. Volume stays the same,  only plays in one room, not connected room. If I put avant on, the cd will take over.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Best regards Michelle

Can you please clarify what you have said here?

You have the Masterlink disconnected, correct? in other words the BS9000 is stand alone and not connected to anything?

After I cleaned it, I switched the master link power box back on (I couldn't get the cable out of the back of the 9000). That was silly wasn't it..  I'll switch master link off at mains and also the 4000 speakers linked to master link. Sorry!

Thanks for your time, really appreciate it

Also,  it seems to be obsessed with cd 2 and 6. Is there a factory reset or is this too simple?!

Reason I asked was I have had a very similar issue with mine. The buttons on the side (ones you push to select a specific disk or open the door) were getting stuck and BS9000 was thinking there were getting pushed and would come on randomly and switch disks. Totally freaked out my girlfriend one day while I was at work. Haha. I'd double check the buttons. Maybe there is 1 or 2 getting stuck?

Thanks Tucker. Yes, I know how she felt, it's just like someone is pressing the remote Surprise . I'll give the buttons a clean too.

Thank you everyone for your input. I love this machine and miss it so much!!

Evening Keith,

I have managed to get the unit off the wall and have removed all the cables (masterlink, aerial, ipod) and have just left in the power cable.

It is opening and closing itself, playing cd 2 then switching after few minutes to cd 6, then opening door, then switching off....

The B&O guy who installed it did some crazy stuff with joining cables with insulating tape and doubling over... it's a real pickle.

Thanks in advance

Michelle

Hi Keith.

Just read your comment regarding sporadic power on and off issues and wander if you could shed some light on the issue I am having with my Beosound 1 speaker system (not the new version)  the carry speaker with the pop up areal.

Basicly it goes into standby mode and won’t function from the remote now the onboard controlled. Cd opens and closes. Aerial comes in and out but you have to press << >> and stop to get access ie play cds / listen to the radio for around three mins then goes into standby then after that from stand by led being illuminated the time come on every 5 to 10 mins for about 10 seconds. A time in which I can operate the system again.

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you so much.
