So I have had a BEOCORD 7000 cassette player. I recently upgraded my receiver to a DENON AVR-x2400h (https://usa.denon.com/us/product/hometheater/receivers/avrx2400h). I have a pin to RCA cable adaptor to use this cassette player with the non B&O receiver.
I could sort of hear the tape player if i turn the volume all the way up. At the suggestion from someone at Denon, I purchased a pre-amp (http://www.ebay.com/itm/PYLE-PRO-Ultra-Compact-Phono-Turntable-Preamp-Line-Level-Stereo-Preamplifier-NEW/222226313705?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649). Now, I can hear the tape being played better, but its very, very fuzzy. Not listenable.
I have my record player hooked up without issue (the record player has a built in AMP).
I am thinking this is an amp/power issue...hence the suggestion for the pre-amp, which obviously didn't work.
What am I doing wrong here? Can I fix this, or (as Best Buy said), you just can't get this old cassette player going with this new receiver?
thanks so much for any help you can provide!!!

P.S. first post, if I posted this in the wrong area, ADMINS, please move it.
You mention your cable – is it a DIN-to-4xRCA or DIN-2xRCA? In the first case, I'd suggest that you swap the inputs and outputs – your description sounds to me as you're sending the output of the beocord to "rec out" on the Denon (in such cases, the signal can often be heard (due to crosstalk) but very very low). If your cable only has two RCA connectors, it could be the wrong type of cable.
I have it plugged into the "cd" input on the denon (which is then re-assignable to give it another name).
It is a DIN to 2 RCA (just one white and one RCA, this is it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EARQ7OC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)) maybe my plug is wrong? (although it seemed to work with my Kenwood receiver previously). can you send me a link for the correct adaptor I should be using?
and do i NEED a pre-amp with this set up?
No, you should not need a pre-amp – the bc7000 output is at line-level.
There are two kínds of cable that look the same – one with the RCAs connected to the output pins of the DIN and one with the RCAs connected to the DIN input pins (the kind with four RCAs is a combination of these two). Based on your description I would have guessed that you simply have the wrong kind, but in that case you would have had the same problem with your old receiver.
I see that the pins are specified in the Amazon descripton. Maybe someone here can see if it's the right type of cable?
I presume that the American version of this machine has the same trailing signal cable with a 7 pin Din plug on the end,in which case you will need an adaptor cable with a 5 pin socket (pin's 6 and 7 unscrew from the B&O plug)at one end and two RCA connectors at 'tother end.
If you can get a cable with 4 RCA connectors you will be able to cover "all the bases",as the previous poster say's there are two pair's left/right out,and left/right in.
The signal out pins on the adaptor are 3=left out and 5=right out.
I imagine that Steve at Sound's Heavenly,a sponsor of this site, could sort you out the correct cable.
Don't worry too much about cable quality and fancy connectors either, Steve only supplies what's needed
You'll be impressed with the sound quality of this machine.too
