A few days ago, an anonymous truck had 160 new televisions stolen from Denmark, they broke into the cargo while the driver was sleeping at a camera surveilled truck stop !!

Beside that someone knew about this un-branded B&O truck was on its way to Denmark?? What are the use of brand new televisions where you don't have the code ?

I mean, isn't the idea of pincode, that you need a pincode from your dealer when you buy a brand new television ? I really do not hope that it is possible to calculate or find out the code of brand new tv's without deep deep knowledge to secure systems at B&O ?

Well, let's see how the thief handles his ''customers'' when the software starts to play up Surprise

"I bought this stolen television from you and it keeps turning off, crashing and freezing. This is not what I expected and I'd like it fixed - or a refund"

That'll teach him to steal B&O !!!

There is no pin code in the new TV's, but B&O can ban (or locate) them on the BeoPortal if they will be connected to the internet (SW update, PUC download, HBB .. etc) - and the probability for that is quite high. Only a question of time before the first TV with a stolen serial pops up on the portal reporting its IP adr. Should be fairly easy for the police to track down the physical address - unless it's in Syria or the like.

Really ? I have actually thought about why the Moment also lacks the pin code, but maybe for the same reason ? It cannot be used (100%) without BeoPortal ?

I would still think that having the pin code, actually made people more safe when buying 2'nd hand B&O products.

The worrying thing from a *legit* customer's point of view is that they are going to have to wait a fair few weeks longer to receive their new TV if their order was part of that robbery.

Maybe it was the first Beovision Eclipse batch, made in Struer.

A desperate customer that couldn't wait any longer for the Oled to arrive.

b&o should publish the serial numbers in order to prevent honest buyer from buying them.

If they are not protected by a pin code I don't know how one can be informed they are stolen.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

My BV14 was pincode-protected. Dealer had to get the unlock code from the B&O service portal at first instalment.

Yes, very good solution! Send the serial numbers to dealers and publish them on the website and write a big hint on the website that stolen TVs/Items do not get any software updates. Wink

BV14 and the Avant are still protected via pin code from the factory - during the initial setup the pin code must be entered. The Horizon has the pin code disabled - you don't need it at all unless you decide to activate it. No pin code in hifi anymore - this could create a lots of confusions during the installation - as they're now very easy to setup with no issues at all ( especially Moment) - just plug and play, very stable too 😋

Last news: 1 pc. van with German and 2 pcs. van with polish numbers have been seen close to the truck at that expected time for the crime.

As the truck have polish number one could suspect some inside information leaked.......

The truck driver could have droven the truck inside the stock as this area is big - seen from a Danish view :-)
