Hi folks,

I'm very new to this area.

I have a b&o A9 second generation. It is great and I like it. We recently moved to a new house which is equipped with some in-wall speakers. We have left, right, and surround back speakers. I just bought a Yamaha RX-V781 receiver. It comes with a set of pre-out jacks, including center, front, surround, surround back, and subwoofer

since I don't have center speaker and subwoofer. I am just wondering if I can connect A9 to the center or even subwoofer jack. So that A9 can be used as subwoofer. Can I do this? I don't want to break my A9.

Any help would be appreciate!

Hi David,

Welcome to Beoworld!  Yes, you can certainly use the A9 as the front or centre channel via the pre-outs on your receiver.  Whilst this isn't a conventional approach, it can work well with a bit of adjustment.  In particular, you may need to set the Network Delay option to zero in the A9 setup app, to avoid the sound from the A9 lagging behind the other speakers.

As the A9 is a stereo speaker, you can either use it as the front left and right channels, or by adding a splitter adapter you can use it in mono on the centre channel.  Either way, this cable is all you need (I can add the RCA splitter free on request):-

Kind regards, Steve.
