Has B&O written what max length on one PowerLink MK III cable must be. ?
Anyone?
Steve - SoundsHeavenly, perhaps?

There is a tv - and there is a BV
B&O's Network Link Passive Infrastructure Manual dated 2012 states that 'the maximum total length of Power Link cable today is 100m/325ft in a system.'
Can't see any reference to type of PL cable or max length of a single run.
10 meter
MCB: 10 meter
Where's that from?
From the beolink handbook v1.9
MCB: From the beolink handbook v1.9
Thanks. Strange then that B&O sell 20m terminated leads!
Good gosch - I don't hope that those who I helped install 20 meter will come back on me ;-(

A 100 meters is in the chart from the BeoLink Handbook version 1.9, that I mailed to Peter Pan....
....but he still don't seem to be convinced.

From page 101
The Ø 2.5 mm / 0.1” cable (with 4 wires, of which 1 pair is foiled) and marked
with indicating MKIII.
Used with BeoLab 2, BeoLab 3, BeoLab 4, BeoLab 7 series, BeoLab 9,
BeoLab 10, BeoLab 11, BeoLab 12, BeoLab 14, BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18,
BeoLab 19, BeoLab 20, BeoLab 4000 MK II, BeoLab 6002, BeoLab 8002 (i.e.
loudspeakers that are not power supplied using switch mode technology).
Note: cables should not be used in lengths exceeding 10 m / 3 ft due to
sensitivity to noise.
So - the question remains ;-(
'PL MK3 max lenght?'
Note: if you happen to have the version 1.9 (the latest) of the BL Handbook, that last information is on page 114.
I am still confused, Peter Pan probably also - and you?

Obviously no more - apart from old ones ;-O

B & O wrote in 2010 -Double shielded PowerLink installation cables, connect as Mk II. + Extreme screen.
In connection with the new, double-shielded installation cables, we introduce new part numbers and types. The following cables with enhanced double shielding and new part numbers are taken into use:• 100m cables are replaced by 50m cables with PowerLink connectors. They are easier to use in installations where the Power Link junction box is used.
• Another news is a gray installation cable with meter markings on a professional cable drum with 300 meters.• The fully assembled PowerLink cables with 3.5mm diameter are replaced by another type with additional protection and oneDiameter of 5.5 mm.
Why do we use new installation cables in use?We often experience 'noise' and 'control problems' in the customer's cable installations, and this is due to the ever increasing amount Electronics at home. It has therefore been necessary to improve the shielding of PowerLink cable installations,It's longer than 20m. Have we had any problems with the 3.5mm cables we've used so far ? Yes unfortunately.
We are sure that this new cable is the right solution when a PowerLink cable is to be installed near a power cord of A certain length - especially when the main cable is contaminated with noise in the sound spectrum.
Can the cable wires with 300m cable also be available in black and white? The gray installation cable (300m) with meter marking is the professional standard version cable drum for installersAnd mounting in the wall. The same cable type is available in black and white (50m), but without meter markings. They are delivered in it Box that was previously used for 100 m cables.
The new cables can be easily assembled using the Power Link joint lock (part number 3132055).The additional shielding must be connected to the data ground connection (pin 7).
Bang & Olufsen.
So we have to conclude that 20 meters is the answer. ? ? ?

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the slow reply, as I was away on holiday. You can certainly run very long Powerlink cables and still get sound out of the other end. HOWEVER.......
I did extensive testing a few years ago using a wide variety of Powerlink cables (both original B&O and other versions) and found 25m to be the point at which noticeable degradation occured to the sound, ie. you could hear the difference without any special equipment at normal listening levels. This was initially heard as a rolling off of the high frequency treble response, followed by a reduction in bass depth as the cable length was increased further.
This was done in the form of an "A/B" listening comparison, with speaker A on a 0.5m cable and speaker B using a progressively longer cable.
It is for this reason that I now offer Powerlink cables up to 20m long, so that I can be certain they won't be affecting the sound adversely. It is worth noting that I managed to get almost 50m without any problems by significantly changing the cable layup and reverting to mono (single audio channel) cables. It was this testing that resulted in producing my "high-end Powerlink upgrade" cables to give longer transmission distances without any loss of quality:-
