Asking a quick question for anyone else who might have this system:
I've got the BL5's programmed in as a device. I activate them when I activate my preamp.
The default power on setting works, but default power off does not. I attempted to reprogram the power off function, but I ran into a problem. a) The Logitech remote has some kind of problem picking up either the signal or deciphering the code. It just keeps stating "could not recognize the signal, please try again". This was with both a Beo4 and a Beoremote One. b) Thinking it was a software issue, I created a new command (poweroff2) and tried to program that command. I still had recognition problems, but eventually, it actually worked and picked up a signal and programmed poweroff2. However, when I put poweroff2 into the power on/off settings (with a .5 second duration), it still didn't turn off the speakers.
For now I'm just using my beoremote one to turn off the speakers, but if anyone figured out this issue, let me know? I'd like to have just one remote control around if possible.
I wouldn't have thought that was possible as b&o utilise 455khz IR which is not at all compatible with usual 38khz IR. Perhaps the Logitech remote does indeed have this 'extended' capability but I'd double check that first.
Thank you, and I'll check on that. But if the Logitech hub can turn on the speakers, I have to assume that they can turn them off. It turns out that there is a known bug preventing the Harmony remote from "learning" IR codes from the occasional device. I hope to have this resolved soon. Had to email tech support, who is able to sideliad new remote commands to my account.
Sigh...
Bad news to report. You were correct, the Logitech Harmony doesn't support the higher frequency (lower wavelength) IR that the BL5s use for control. I'm not entirely sure how they turn on, but perhaps they're triggered by the signal in.
So, it looks like I'll be hanging onto my Beoremote one. Logitech support tried to give me the right codes for power off, but they don't work.
I have a Harmony remote/hub now, but haven't tried to use it with my B&O.
However, I had a Harmony remote/touchscreen thing previously that I used to control an AV7000 and BS9000. I had to work with Harmony to get the right codes in, in that I'd email them and tell them what I wanted to do, they'd make up a file and email it to me, I'd load it into the Harmony, then would send back what worked and what didn't via an email, they'd reconfabulate, and send me another file. Took about three or four tries but they got it right finally, have you tried emailing Harmony support to see if they can assist? It may be a case that their transmitter can handle the higher freq but the reader cannot when you try and use the B&O remote to tell the code to the Harmony. Worth a try if you haven't contacted them yet.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
i use the harmony hub with my bl5s. it worked perfect from the first day on.
and yess jeff, you are correct. you can send b&o commands from the hub, but you cannot read new commands, cause the reader does not support that..

i also would recommend to contact the harmony support. they are very competent (also on the telephone).
i was also missing one command in the harmony. i found the hex code for that command somewere in the internet, send it to logitech and they added it on the fly (when the hub is connected to the internet) to my harmony... and it worked

sorry double post...
Well, I suppose I'll contact their tech support team again. If your hub can turn your BL5s on and off, then I'm a little annoyed.
And the remote definitely turns the BL5s on.
one question, what mode do you have your BL5s in?
