My BM 6000, not the 4ch, the other type doesn’t respond on any input and my local work shop told me it’s the processor that is defect. They cannot find a new processor anywhere and proposed me to use the BM as a paperweight or similar.

Is it truth or is there a chance to fix the machine? Maybe there is a processor waiting for me somewhere?

Or anything! I’m open for any suggestions.

Oh, by the way, I live in Sweden, were the BM are too.

Is it just dead, or do you get something on the displays etc...?

It’s not totally dead, there are some signs in the display but I can’t recall right now what signs there are. The receiver has been at my local work shop since June 24. Tomorrow I will go to Goodwood in Sussex for the weekend. Next week I will pick up the BM and will also write in the thread which signs there are.

I appreciate all help in this case!

Now I´m back home again, and so is the BM 6000.

This is the machine:

And this is the type and serial number:

This is what happens when I plug it to the mains, the upper display shows “[ : .0 ]” and the lower “[ < ]”.

When I shift from “Mono” or “Manual” to “FM-auto” the lower display goes “[ > (one green dot) < ].

That’s all. No more sign of life whatever button I press and how long the mains are plugged.

Any ideas, anyone?

Bad reset circuit, bad solder joints on the processor board connectors and/or the board below
or a bad processor.
I have a complete processor board for sale with rebuilt displays etc..

I would agree with Martin. My experience with these units is that the ICs themselves are usually o.k. but that there are some signals missing or at too low levels when there is erratic behavior. It could be as simple as the 5V power supply has caved due to a bad reservoir cap etc...I suggest, check first if you have a full 5V on the processor board. It is easy to open the 6000 (loosen two screws behind the top of the front panel underneath two plastic covers let and right, then the panel flips up)
