If you look at the picture in this tread with the IFA press conference teaser/invitation and look at this picture of the (not yet) available front grill of the BL50, you may see certain similarities.

Maybe we will see a 'speakers part front' of the BV Eclipse like that.

Just a thought ;-)

I was being approximate, so close enough

Anyway, we can all see the current list price of the Avant - what I highly doubt is that the Eclipse will be meaningfully cheaper.

When was the last time they put out a surprisingly well priced TV, and if anything the perception us that their prices have been becoming less competitive

And while Loewe are also expensive, they are cheaper - a Bild 7 55 is around 4500 pounds, screen only. The 65 is 6500.

With the Avant 55, 14 55 both between 7 and 8k, the rational observation is that Loewe is cheaper, and the Eclipse pricing won't change that.

Whether one considers the extra outlay for a B&O set worthwhile or good value, that's of course subjective by and large. Personally I can just about justify the extra, as we are not quite comparing like for like, but that's just me

Maybe we should keep this thread alive - the BV Eclipse is soon arriving!

As for price 'rumours', I'd advice people to read the 'Heard from B&O store' as well:

http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/26497/211650.aspx#211650

-

What would you say, if there are no 'B&O curtains' anymore on the LG/B&O-tv, when it is turned on/off?

And what about dedicated Netflix and Amazon buttons on the BeoRemote One, that comes with it?

Would that be ok, or?

With regards to the dedicated Netflix and Amazon buttons on the BeoRemote One, as long as they are designed in good taste, then I would have no objection.

There is no 'good taste' there - these button are like they are on every other remote!

Well that would concern me but would also be a bit odd for the likes of B&O who normally take pride in their designs. I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

Well why not include that remote for free with the TV and if you want to purchase another then why not ?

A tv should be sold with at least a remote and a stand even a basic one (like the ones in metal used for transportation)

The decision of b&o is absolutely not justified and is shocking at this level of price.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

The addition of these buttons is mandatory, if you want to have access to the content of these two giants through he user interface.

And it is not a B&O decision - it is a LG decision, since they provide the entire tv/picture part.

Sort of 'take it or leave it'.

I would imagine that B&O are still responsible for the design of the TV. LGDisplay would be responsible for providing the OLED panels and manufacture the TVs to B&O’s design specifications as well as the provision of the WebOS operating system.

WebOS is modular in that regard meaning that if B&O refuse to provide dedicated buttons on the remote for Netflix and Amazon Video, the associated apps for these services can be omitted from WebOS therefore meaning no direct access to these services. Of course that would then mean users may need to rely on a set-top box solution such as an Apple TV to access these services which may not prove popular with some people.

B&O remotes are produced by a German company.

The reason for the physical buttons come from the licensing terms with Netflix. If your TV has built in Netflix, its remote must have a physical button.

I guess we must face the fact that B&O had very little to decide, when it comes to WebOS and app's.

They surely don't want to launch a tv without eg the Netflix app once again.

Just think of what happenet as the AvantNG first came out - and they had to remove the Netflix app.

No need to argue with these guys - they decide....and LG has decided to 'play by the rules'.

B&O has a manufacturing agreement with LG. I'm sure they can decide everything, the TVs are not sold under the LG brand after all.

But of course the more they change from the standard LG tv it's based on the more expensive.

Hmmm, you got me puzzled now with this remote story. :)

I own an LG with WebOS 3.0, running built-in Netflix app from WebOS content store and my remote does not have the Netflix button. :/ So maybe there is hope for the Eclipse too?

Here´s what my little birdie told me this afternoon. He expects it next week. Think BV14, not a surprice. Or a modern AV9000. Speaker a little wider, not a surprice too, sticks only a cm out from the screen, like BV14. Speaker comes in fabric and aluminium. No electronic curtains. Remote with amazon and netflix bottuns. Floorstand like the Avant stand. Wall stand more like BV14 stand. Lightcensor. The best LG panel avaible. Sound is usual B&O standard.

This confirms pretty much, what I already know/have heard.

Apart from the sound being 'usual B&O standart'.

Haven't heard it, I choose to trust those, who have - and they tell me, that the sound is amazing/stunning...

....which imo means 'more than standart B&O'!

The tv will be relatively light and the stand option (with the double turn feature) is much lighter than as before.

I told him that but he answered usual standart. I also asked about the new white aluminium. He replied okay... Does it mean it comes with a new aluminium standart?

So by the sound of beofans2's post no electronic curtains, that is a real shame, as that is one the one thing that makes me smile every time I turn on or off my Beovisions. It is something that people always comment on

"relatively light" : do you thing the contrast screen in glass is actually mandatory for a beovision ?

the glass weights a lot.

The wall support is attached to the soundbar, not the screen. That tells a lot about the low weight of the TV compared to previous models.

The sound is supposed to be fantastic, better than the Avant or any other soundbars on the market. One week left!

A moveable B&O sound/speaker system with a mounted LG-tv.

But at least it is a B&O remote ;-)

It´s not a contrast screen as we know it but something lighter and thinner.

Like always, let's wait and see but it could be a no go for me (even if it's only a detail - but I love those kind of details).

Guess what - the remote is bluetooth (so I was told).

Wonder if that will cause similar problems as with the AvantNG, BV14, Horizon.

Sure has advantages, but a 100% working remote is priority imo.

Not sure about Amazon but Netflix yes, choice of black, white or red button on newer remote. 480 watt sound bar housing main components so that just the panel can be replaced in the future - neat. Cable management well thought out. Floor stand similar to Avant but smaller due to lighter weight of OLED panel - better footprint. Panel is LGs latest, so this year's with upwards of 25% brightness from last year. Again, excellent news. Exact price unconfirmed at this time but likely to be same as the Avant, which will be discontinued apart from the 85" model as mentioned earlier in this thread. Pre-ordered the 55" a few days ago so looking forward to having it in situ, looks very promising and I am hopeful for B&O this time round. This is the tv to buy for longevity and worth the outlay (in my opinion). It's taken a while but I've got a good feeling.

On a separate note, heard BL50s, which I thought were OK but couldn't really tell a difference from BL5s personally. Also rather large in person as suspected from pictures, not sure there that close to the 90s but then I haven't heard the 90s so I I can't really comment.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing the sound shape, which I'll almost certainly want to add.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

I wonder if the eclipse would therefore be able to sit on my current Avant 55 stand

and then i could perhaps move my Avant into the front room and buy the Avant motorised table stand for it and therefore re use my existing floor stand with the eclipse.

Well I have paid X amount of money as a deposit so that on release and when ready to install, it will be done. We agreed that the outstanding amount will be paid when exact prices is know, which we are hoping is next week sometime. That's it really!

Good question, would save you £1,945 if you could. All in all the Eclipse on a bracket (same prices) is gaining to be around the £9,940 mark.

For the 55"? I think that's what my dealer suggested (a shade under £10K), with the 65" coming in at around £13K.
