KMA:Actually, thinking more about Eclipse, it's not a true BeoVision – at least not in the sense of what the name infers and has always inferred.
You can either have this/the Eclipse (and what comes next) from B&O....
....or you can have nothing/no tv from B&O anymore.
It is your choice and of course it - as always with B&O - depends on what you are willing to pay.
Actually I was very pleased and surpriced by the feel (not to speak of the sound and of the picture) of this tv/the Eclipse.
If people are satisfied with a stock LG-tv and some kind of soundbar/speaker combination at a 'much lower price', so be it.
Either you take the BV Eclipse or you leave it - in my opinion it is the best, that one can expect from B&O these days.

What to do with the extra 900 pounds eh..
I'm super-happy now! Might treat myself to a rebranded Samsung/BeoPlay E8 with the loose change.
I know a lot of people on here are trying to be really positive about the Eclipse and I'm sure it's a really decent television, but there's no way I'm finding an additional £7500 on top of the regular LG OLED 65" to justify it. 100% guarantee visitors would think I'm certified mental if they found out, B&O "magic" or not (and that price difference excludes the additional cost of the motorised stand).
Sandyb:All very true - though the C7 isn't picture on glass, so the E7 might be a better comparison But your broader point remains correct
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
KMA: Actually, thinking more about Eclipse, it's not a true BeoVision – at least not in the sense of what the name infers and has always inferred. There is nothing Beo in the Vision part of the TV, contrary to all previous BeoVisions.

No.
BeoVision 14, BeoVision Avant NG and BeoVision Horizon are all with vision parts from TP Vision (Philips). Ie. its the ones with Android TV.
You'll have to go back in time to BV11, Avant 1.gen. and V1 to find a TV with an inhouse made vision part from B&O.

I think B&O should also do a BeoSystem 5 that is the Eclipse "engine" (including a PUC that can control TVs as well, perhaps via HDMI CEC) but without the LG TV or the B&O soundbar. Then B&O can sell this BeoSystem bundled with Beolabs of your choice (including different choices for center speaker) and you can just "bring-your-own-panel" and freely choose between Sony, LG or whoever you prefer.

Folks
Story gets even more crazy in the US. LG E7 65 is $ 3995 only in the US and if you do not mind picking up an open box from the Sony Authorised dealer (absolutely unused TV), it crashed down to $ 2800 only. Hence the price differential becomes even more of an issue here in the US.
Also, the eclipse remote does not even have the mouse feature (wii like) that LG has on their sets. Which is what webOS, web and apps are designed for. As LG say in their ad for WebOS "You can use the remote controller like a mouse, so easy, isnt it convenient? It would have been so difficult without the magic remote control".
And the LG also has a small joystick on the back to easily control it. Gone on the Eclipse too. I am getting more and more upset by this product by the minute..
BAND'OH!: Emil Jensen:Am I going to buy it after I saw it? no I am going for the cheap alternative for now and settle for the B7 in 65" Seems like you have arrived at the same decision the rest of us have.

I will not either - simply because I haven't got the money for it.
But I certainly would not go for a 'cheaper' OLED, either.
It is the BV/OLED....or I will stick to my 'old' BeoVision for a while - unlike the 'rest of you'.
Millemissen <- I think you need to change your signature. With the Eclipse "a BV is exactly just an (ordinary) TV" with B&O sound and connectivity added on.
** double post sorry **

I wonder if you can buy the SoundCenter from a B&O dealer and slot in an LG E7?
If so, I can't imagine the SoundCenter would be much more than $2500-3000.

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.
I imagine you can slot another TV on top that's for sure watching the video of the wall bracket but then you woudln't get the B&O Logo and perhaps the BR One.
An alternative would be a regular OLED and a BS35 as a TV sound bar.
As B&O have partnered with LG to use the Web OS, to me that's just like the Android - it's just another brand . So previously B&O partnered with Google to use Android TV and now with LG for WebOS. Like you had to have a Google Store account for apps, you know have the LG Store for apps.
From what I can tell there is one or two LG apps branded as LG apps, and they really aren't that important and i reckon they could be deleted (if you dont want to see the LG brand on screen).
From the video i watched, now you can see why the Sound Centre is wider than the TV - its so that it can house the bracket that supports the TV and the wall bracket on either the left or the right side.
So for a long time many of us on this forum have said that B&O shouldn't do software, so here they haven't. We also said that we want to have something with the latest specs, so they have done that.
I haven't seen the TV in the flesh yet, but my walk past the Melbourne store today i could see it from the outside, but i had to run to my PT session.
Perhaps like Bangle with BMW, this will bring newer customers to the brand, some people that may also be familiar with the way an LG TV works and there is no learning curve. Granted the TV is priced high, so people will make their own choice about what this means to them.
Reading through the posts, many valid points indeed. When i was reading that perhaps the TV wont sell well and B&O will have to re consider their pricing structure. I immediately said to myself, "yeah right. Every time i go in to the B&O store, they put up their prices again". I don't think their pricing department really understand, supply and demand, marginal cost, etc.
In Australia now, as the franchise is no longer under B&O control, they charge you for international delivery - will see how much this TV really is gonna cost.
For me, I'm not sure how , where to place peripherals.
I like the Netflix button actually, it makes it easier to access. I watch a lot of Netflix. That being said, it still would have been just as good to have it in the OLED display of the BR One with the Netflix logo (instead of just the source text) - perhaps that would have got them over the line.
From the rear of the TV it would be nice to have one colour instead of the black and the grey.
I think it might look quite nice with Moxxeys suggestion of the black aluminium or the green.
For a lot of potential customers they wont know that it is an LG TV (perhaps) and consider it as a B&O TV licensed to use the LG Store for apps. But i think as the product is a collaboration, its best to call out in the manuals it is an LG TV. Sure i would have preferred a different UI skin but i have never used the WebOS.
You can see why this department was disbanded after the mess of the Android platform and BV 14 et al. So maybe if the product is successful this will bring more money TV line.
Interesting times ahead , that's for sure.
Will let you know what i think when i see it on the weekend.
KMA:In fact the LG on Eclipse isn't picture on glass either. It has the back plate material of C7, which is not glass. The E7 on the other hand is picture on glass: the panel is bonded to a glass backplate. KMA B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.

well said!
Be nice to hear more from people who have actually seen it. Need more hands on opinions
moxxey:Ironically, I remember people saying that B&O TVs were "rebadged Phillips" in the 90s, which made a few people laugh about the pricing (as they were much more expensive than a Phillips television). False as that was, as they weren't rebranded Philips TVs, B&O is realistically rebadging a LG and hoping most people don't notice the regular 65" LG is only £2999: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/lg-oled65c7v-65-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-oled-tv-10160558-pdt.html So, if one can buy the LG panel right now for £2999, assuming I go for the basic wall mount, what do I get for the extra £8500 ? Wow.

I've not seen it in the fleash but in the pictures it really looks like a B&O TV. Like a mix between BV10 and BV7
But the price? 11-16.000 USD?? A bit too much for a LG... It is clearly not aimed at "normal" people.
Out of curiosity, is anyone from B&O management reading this thread ? or it's just a " throw your opinion " and move on ?
Hi Hiort,
I agree with you 100 %.
Yesterday I was invited at Bang & Olufsen Bremdal for the presentation of the Eclipse.
The 65" has a blown all of us away. What a fantastic sound this TV is producing. WOW !!!!!!!
It's so good, that you question yourself, if you need an extra set of Beolab speakers.
I was also very positive surprised about the quality of the picture.
The design is of course a personal taste. Nevertheless, I like it very much.
Although the alu speaker cover looks very nice, I would go for the brown/red fabric cover.
This color combines very well with a grey wall color. A lot will depend on the interior design of the room where it will be placed.
As I said, this is my personal choice.
I can imagine that the design of the soundbar is a little surprising, but I'm very confident that it is going to be a success.
Just go back to the first impressions and comments on the A9.
In the beginning almost nobody had some positive comments on the A9 design.
Sometimes it takes time to get used to it.
My end conclusion is very positive.
Just wait and see.
IA64:Out of curiosity, is anyone from B&O management reading this thread ? or it's just a " throw your opinion " and move on ?
So, with the addition of the Netflix button, does this mean other TVs like Horizon will start supporting Netflix ?
Is it possible we can still access Netflix without the ugly remote ?
IA64: Out of curiosity, is anyone from B&O management reading this thread ? or it's just a " throw your opinion " and move on ?
I am pretty sure that 'someone' from B&O is reading this thread.
But I am also sure, they won't tell you.
However, they also know that only very few of their costumers are reading/writing this/on Beoworld.

Exactly - let us revisit this thread in two years time to see, what people here thought back then about the BV Eclipse.

Design is not the core issue but the value proposition is.
I have yet to question the value proposition on a B&O product before Eclipse (At least the products that I bought, BL 50, BV9, BL5, A9 Beosound 5, etc. etc.). I do not think it is just the 'Design" that is under criticism but the "Value Proposition" which is being challenged.
Give me Eclipse 65 with floor stand at $ 10,000, I will take it in a heartbeat and "Live with the design weaknesses" but I am not willing to do the same at $ 15,000. At this price point, one has to ask whether the added benefits are worth the asking premium when the most critical part of the TV, i.e. The picture quality, can be had at very low price.
In 2 years time, there may not be any Eclipse if the initial launch does not pan out well.

All posters that are bashing the Eclipse based on what you read need to hear and see it "live". It's a super TV. It lacks some beosignature things like the curtain and menus, I agree. Could it replace my BV11-46? Absolutely! Will look stunning on wall mount. It has all connectivity I need incl Multiroom.
