Serious question - has anyone asked their dealer about any assurance of TV serviceability/repair period? It would be pretty galling (to me at least) to have to throw out a £7.5K B&O Soundbar because the £1.5K TV was obsolete/unrepairable!

I did. The answer was 1) B&O is required by law to stock repair parts for 7 years and 2) future LG TVs will fit into the SoundBar. I'm a little skeptical about 2) since having LG commit to maintaining a specific form factor for a number of years sounds rather optimistic.
In some ways, this challenge exists even without taking repair into consideration. That is, LG releases new TV models every year - will B&O have to update the SoundBar every year to fit a new TV? Will LG continue making the 2017 TVs so B&O doesn't have to update the SoundBar? Will LG maintain at least one model that fits the SoundBar?
This isn't their first rodeo so I would hope that these details have been well worked out as part of the partnership. The only question is how long does the partnership last...

Sounds reasonable, although I thought it had been said that your no.2 wasn't in their plans.

I find the sound more better than bv14 even better beolab 7.6
i think the surround processor in the sound bar is more fine
Agree with Andriani.
I replaced my BV11 with the Eclipse last friday and my first impression of the sound(bar) is much better.

How well do the 3 channels cope with music? That's one thing that puts me off an Avant or Eclipse, the fact that all my music will have 2 channels (stereo) and the soundbar has 3.
What about vibrations? A lot of work (or so I read) went into making the chassis of the 11 rattle free whereas Eclipse looks a little flimsy.

for music i have bought two beolab 5 ( second hand) and i can listen
1 in stereo with beolab 5 it is very fine ( i listen streaming for apple tv or spotify)
2 in "stereo" with the sound bar it is less better than the beolab 5 of course but sufficient ( and better than beolab 7.6 , as i told it is the processor which is more fine)
in practice it is easy to listen music with eclipse , it is more "open" than beosound , and with bluetooth or apps ( deezer, spotify) or mediaplayer ( zapitti, apple tv) you can stream music from cloud or nas or usb storage
now the system is more efficient and practice ( it is a real smart connect tv.. the world change ...)
while there seems to be a general consensus about the good sound quality on the Eclipse, I’m concerned about how quickly B&O will be receiving upgraded panels whenLG introduce-these. For example, Home Cinema Choice recently reported on the LG Signature G7 and B&O’s Eclipse. The LG panel apparently experienced “motion picture handling is average and the TruMotionprocessing is a heavy-handed solution to motion judder and loss of moving detail. Both theClear and Smooth options conjure obvious artefacts around moving objects. It’s an area where the brand should make improvements next year’ The Eclipse report noted that” it might be interesting ... to see if B&O’s own processing could have fixed some occasional niggles associated with LG’sOLED sets(motion handling). Has anyone viewed say skiing on these panels? Does anyone know the official situation regarding the introduction of upgraded LG panels on the Eclipse? Villarsch

I experience a lot of stutter when watching sports on the Eclipse. I know that this is a problem with the C7 panel and that LG are working on it. Their latest FW fixed some issues so hoping that an update will arrive soon for the Eclipse cause right now I cant really see any fast moving sports like football.

I'm not sure there is an official opinion. Some dealers have speculated you'll be able to drop in a new panel at a later date.
However, two issues I have here. And they are big. I have zero issues with my BV12-65. Superb with movies, excellent with sport. Clear, smooth, no transitional motion issues, nothing. Are we really saying in 2017 that an OLED panel needs an upgrade to offer motion improvements? Secondly, the cost of any panel upgrade won't be cheap. I'd estimate £4000 to drop in a new panel. On top of the original purchase!
Goes back to having LG processing, which isnt as good as Sony, Panasonic etc
That said, i was surprised at the post yesterday that sport was hard to watch on the Eclipse (?!). Can't be that bad surely?
The panel changing / replacement subject is a waste of time anyway - as you mention, for cost reasons alone, no one is going to be swapping panels often, if at all. In theory it would be a nice flexibility to have of course for, say, 5 years down the road - but as the company has said nothing about this as a feature, i'd wouldnt count on anything that far in the future.

I think we will have a better guess here in two weeks when LG launch there new panels,
I doubt it though as HDMI 2.1 is on its way and the soundcenter does not have this (as it was not invented at the time)
About OLED vs Plasma, I do not watch must sport so have never noticed motion problems, but the other advantes OLED have compared to Plasma is really significant. I would never go back to a Plasma as the Picture in the day is so doll.
But anyways not really a discussion as Plasma is no more.

One of the things I've noticed for a long time now is that "progress" often isn't. We got rid of plasma, only to have to go to OLED, a hot new tech that has burn in issues and other plasma like "features" but worse motion performance. And an uncertain longevity of the panels. Big improvement eh? And at only a much higher price!
The purpose of far too many "innovations" and "improvements" especially in the consumer electronics realm is to cause people to churn equipment to the benefit of the companies selling gear. And music, how many times can they get you to buy your favorite albume? LP, CD, SACD, HD Audio...it never stops.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.
Since two weeks I am an owner of an Eclipse 55". And yes I have viewed skiing, football, formula one already a view times without any motion studdler or loss of detail.
My Eclipse is wired via UTP to the internet not wireless via wifi. Maybe that causes some studdling?
Thanks. Ive tried many different settings but there is still an artifact of fast moving objects not really updating fast enough.
Please try this video on the native Youtube app and see if you can see that the white ball isn't updating correctly when twerking the TM settings.Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVtoxUohG5E
Saw the Eclipse for the first time, in person, today. I'll admit the design, style and sound performance is fantastic.
But, I think it looks too bright and sharp. Do I need to see every indentation on a person's face to enhance my visual experience? Having watched my smooth and deep-colour BV12-65 for the last two years, I think I prefer the colours, contrast and smoother picture from the plasma panel.
When I was shopping for a TV a week or two ago (huge store with at least 50-60 TVs on display), I noticed that every TV > ~55" (at least 15 of them) had serious motion artifacts when showing sports. A basketball game was on and every player had a "blurry swirl" around them when they moved. Changed to football, same. Distance shots were worse than close ups. Sony, LG, Samsung, B&O, it didn't matter. LED, QLED, OLED, it didn't matter. When viewed from 1 or 2 feet away, they all looked relatively horrible.
However, once I stepped back from the TV to a normal viewing distance (8 to 12 ft in my home), I had to try to see these issues. The further back, the harder to discern. I think part of the issue was that these were being broadcast on 1080i from the local cable system, but, this is what I will be using, too. Some of it could also be the settings on the TVs, but overall, they were all horrible regardless of brand or technology.
My point I guess is there are trade-offs. If you're going to sit 2 feet from your TV when watching sports, you should probably buy a 40" or smaller. If you want to enjoy a "large screen" experience across a lot of different content, then don't sit in the "front row" for sports. If you expect/demand perfection, wait... although "perfection" in video is similar to audio - it's not just your "gear", but the content and how it is created, mastered and delivered.

I do think from seeing the eclipse and other ultra high definition pictures there's a image equivalent to digital versus analogue. The latter being the plasma etc.
I don't need to study people's complexions, or be shown images of the bateau mousche on the seine to admire a view. It can be too real.

I think the issue is less to do with it being too "sharp" an image but the fact that with those sorts of images there seems to almost a 'line" drawn around areas of colour, like a childs drawing which is then "coloured in".
I suspect this is likely due to overly aggressive edge detection algorithms running as part of the picture processing software.

Mikipedia:Very much agreed, most stores are very bad in this respect.
Actually, I asked the B&O store and they claimed it was the 'out of the box' settings to show how it would be to the user in their home.
Not sure that many dealers are capable of proper calibration.
I made this point many weeks ago on this thread - i.e. if i spent 4k or upwards on top of the line new OLED, i would definitely get a professional calibrator to come round. Partly because the image settings for different types of material are just so much more complicated than they used to be.
Mna B&O installers will not have the requisite skills to do that - not a criticism, as their previous BV's didnt require / allow this level of calibration, nor require it.
