Thank you guys for all your advice. I will keep my Beovision 7-55 mk2 a while more. For me reliability in the product is very important and also PQ.
Best regards
Martin
NEW! Beovision Eclipse 65 2nd generation (G1) with floorstand (from STB Brackets), Beolab 50 front, Beolab 3 rear, 2 x Beoplay A6 linkrooms, 2xBeoremote one BT, Beosound 9000 Mark III (sw 3.4), Beosound 5 (for DLNA only), Philips Hue (all lights in the home), Oppo UDP-203, Apple TV 4K (2021 model). Beoremote HALO, 3xBeoplay Charging pad, Beoplay M5
One more thing is that the Eclipse will not support listening to FLAC files from NAS which is very important for me. Maybe a software upgrade will solve this in the future but before this fix I will not buy an Eclipse.

@Martin : if I’m right, the lg tv cannot play flac via it’s applications, but the sound center can, via the Bang&Olufsen mobile app, like an embedded core/Essence. This is the way to go, and it should works quite good, until the next app update which will break everything, as usual 😄

Who wants to fiddle with a tv app/music player, when you can use the DLNA renderer in the Sound Center controlled by the B&O X-app???

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Beofan67:Do not know who spread this fake news about flac? Recently I ripped some cd via my pc to digital flac files, saved them on my NAS and played them via my Eclipse. No problem at all. Have some major issues with the network card in the Beovision Eclipse. Wired I get 2 mbit and with wifi I get 100 mbit that works for a couple of hours and then it goes down to 2 mbit. Going to settings and disconnecting and connecting again resolve the issue. All my other devices get 100 mbit on the same network. Ive tried booth 2.4 and 5 ghz but booth have the same issue with the Eclipse. Any ideas?

First time i don't have a Beovision in 25 years....i am actually a bit sad.
But not enough value and differentiation in eclipse, and appalling and expensive service here in Switzerland....i just bought the Loewe Bild 5 65 OLED, good bye Bang and Olufsen.
Hi Beofan67,
Can You really confirm that Flac-files will work when playing music thru Eclipse from a NAS?
I have some days ago got confirmed that this issue is still not solved and is under B&O:s list of things that will be fixed in the future. Thats why I am very suprised that you got it to work.
Best RegardsMartin
I have to say the same. First time a non Beovision in 24 years. It was a hard step.
I'd have bought the Horizon 48 (a larger size doesn't fit), if there was the controlling option of the motorized stands. Now i've got an Samsung qled 49 - brilliant picture, easy app integration, sound is... let's say ok, and i've saved 3500€. Actually i see no alternative in the B&O range.

As I understand it’s 1) above that does not support Flac. Correct?
1) supported FLAC from USB, from NAS unsupported (for the moment). WAV is NAS supported, so if server transcode to WAV it works
2) Correct 2ch FLAC is supported
Hi Martin,
I have just tested it again (just to be sure I am not becoming mad ) and can CONFIRM that I can play FLAC files on my ECLIPSE both ways:
1) LG Webos Music app > select my NAS > go to map and play FLAC files (see my prntscrn I posted earlier in this thread)
2) Via the B&O app > music > music map > select my FLAC file.
The only bug still is that when I use the 2) B&O app I will get a totally green screen (which I can turn off via my beoremote)
Btw I have a NAS Synology DS213+.

As the eclipse screen is a C7 , now that the C8 has been "launched", i read in engadget that the C8 is the Best of CES 2018
How long till the screen is updated in the Eclipse i wonder?
It normally takes a while for them to reach market anyway , like 6 months from CES.

Best TV Product: LG 2018 C-Series OLED
LG's next OLED TVs are even smarter and better-looking than before. The C8-series, the step above the entry-level B8, sports the company's fast new Alpha 9 processor, which is put to good use powering the newly added Google Assistant. LG's own tech isn't going anywhere; instead, it's now working together with Google to deliver a complete TV experience
I would hope that Beo integrate the new C8 panel in late 2018 (October-December). But would not surprise me if Beo waited until the C9 or something.
Also hope that Beo take some time to fix their Mutiroom with Eclipse first. And also fix so older products can be used with Eclipse.
But a 75"-85" C8 would fit 2018 nice.

Beo in white is my thing

Thanks Carolpa! Didn't know about the Multiroom via the app.
But I do know about the Join functions but it's not how I want it to work. I would just tap the Play button and then I would like the Eclipse to wake up and play Deezer or my lossless collection.
Any suggestions?I want to get the Moment and it to work with the Eclipse.
ErikVonAgnar:play Deezer or my lossless collection
do you have a BLGW? than you could press a button and start the Moment and automatically JOIN the Eclipse

At least by the time, when LG Display has no C7 panels anymore, we will see the Eclipse with an C8....I suppose.

I do not hope it will take so long, and I would not expect it. There is no HDMI 2.1 so the soundcenter should be easy to reuse.
I am in the market for a Eclipse this year, but I would like the newest panel when spending premium price.
I am also interesting in what models B&O will launch this year. I feel the eclipse is the top, and I could settle for less.
Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence
Emil Jensen:I am also interesting in what models B&O will launch this year. I feel the eclipse is the top, and I could settle for less.
I am not sure B&O will be releasing any more TVs this year.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
Hi Beofan,
do you have a betasoftware in your eclipse or do you have the latest official release?
Beocare says that it should NOT work with DLNA with NAS if you dont use a beta software. But Beocare says that Flacfiles with NAS will work after a softwareupdate in the end of this month.

another question: how is the audioquality when you listen to music 2 channel to your connected speakers? My question is not if the soundbar sounds good but if the soundbar produces good audioquality to connected frontspeakers. I have today Beolab 5 connected to my Beovision 7-55 and my detailed question is if the D/A converters and the other audioparts in the eclipse is better than Beovision 7with inbuilt Beosystem 3? I am talking about the electronic parts in the eclipse not the speakers in the soundbar.
martin
Is there a possibility to make favorite lists when streaming music with the B&O app?
Best Regards
Times are as hard as one experience. Technology evolves more rapidly than light these days. What you buy today is not state of the art tomorrow. This is not only true for B&O products. So if you want the best there is on the market for your money you should accept that this is only temporary and for a shorter period than ever before .
I wonder if the “better black” in the LG8 panel can be noticed by the human eye. Same for the other specs. For me the current Eclipse is still very good in many aspects and specs. Biggest surprise for me was/is that it is not compatible any more with older analoge B&O products. And there are still some minor issues/bugs but these will be solved in the near future I rely on.

Isnt the bigger improvement in the 8's series screens the addition of Black Frame Insertion?
This should make the motion much smoother, to the extent it wasn't quite perfect before - the motion seemed to be the one area where OLED's still aren't quite right.
They have also added more calibration flexibility, which means the TV easier to tune to different use cases, which the Tv will remember (more) automatically.
It remains to be seen whether the new A9 system also improves the overall video processing to close the gap with the Sony and Panasonics of the world.
Perhaps, though the lack of the magic remote with the Eclipse will still likely be a constraint on fully using the feature set of webos.
Despite the garishness of the UI, webOS still seems the best choice of smart platform for a TV.

One of the conclusions I've come to over the years is that "state of the art," at least as applied to consumer electronics, doesn't always equate to "improved" or even "as good as older technology." If you constantly chase SOTA just for the desire to be on the bleeding edge, you will find it a costly, and not always rewarding, experience. As for differences in black levels, I remember when Panasonic was doing the last gasp of plasma tech. I have a VT series panel, after that for a short time, probably less than 6 months, they sold a better ST series panel. It had if I recall something like a 0.5 IRE difference in black levels, which even the reviewers noted was only discernible using test equipment not the human eye. But it's something you can advertise to encourage people to dump what they have and buy something new.
I have to agree with you about lack of backwards compatibility with the Masterlink products. This obsolescence seems kind of counter to the design philosophy of the old B&O company.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Martin,
I cannot imagine I have a beta version? I have my Eclipse since begin of December and it worked with my NAS and Flacfiles directly from the start as it does today. In the mean time the TV received two automatic sw updates. Currently version 1.2.18278.130537120.
Regarding your other question about the speakers. I do not have much of technical knowhow on that. But my two BL6000 and BL11 gives a perfect sound when activating them with (or without) the soundbar speakers. Recently I told my dealer that it seems to me that they sound even better than with my previous Beovision11. He told that this can be because of the much better improved processer in the Eclipse. I tuned the speakers a little bit based on the tips given in the article of Geoff Martin ( http://www.tonmeister.ca/wordpress/2017/09/15/bo-tech-its-not-just-a-soundbar/ )

On some NAS’s there is a transcoding feature.
This means, that the SW of the NAS can transcode (change) the fileformat on the fly, if this is not supported by the player - mostly to MP3 or WAV.
Did you check, if this is the case with your NAS?
This can be disabled in the settings.
