Martin: Hi Beofan, another question: how is the audioquality when you listen to music 2 channel to your connected speakers? My question is not if the soundbar sounds good but if the soundbar produces good audioquality to connected frontspeakers. I have today Beolab 5 connected to my Beovision 7-55 and my detailed question is if the D/A converters and the other audioparts in the eclipse is better than Beovision 7with inbuilt Beosystem 3? I am talking about the electronic parts in the eclipse not the speakers in the soundbar. best regards martin

Hi Martin
I also have Beolab 5 connected to Eclipse, which actually was my purpose for buying the Eclipse, hopefully feeding Beolab 5 with a better sound than the Beosound 9000 and my old Beovision was able to do.I can just say that the sound in Beolab 5 is incredible good, they has never sounded better and this tendency to sound a little hard is completely gone, it’s a very clear detailed and ”earfriendly” sound, I’m very happy with what I got, when talking about the sound processing in Beovision Eclipse.

Hi great thanks for your answer. I pulled the trigger for one Eclipse 65 and two Beoplay A6 last week. I will also sell my Auralic Aries streamer and just use the Eclipse for both Video and Audio streaming. I Will sell all my ML products and go all in to NL. I hope it is a wise decision.

Aussie Michael:As the eclipse screen is a C7 , now that the C8 has been "launched", i read in engadget that the C8 is the Best of CES 2018
Some stuff on new C8 screen differences from C7:
Alpha 9 promises:
Said to improve noise reduction, sharpness, contrast and color (the latter with superior color mapping), it's available on every model except for the least-expensive B8. Beefier processing might sound cool, but LG's OLEDs are already so good that it's tough to image how much they'll improve -- assuming the processing helps rather than hurts the image.
I asked whether any of the processing could be disabled, and Tim Alessi, LG's Senior Director of Product Marketing replied: "If a user control exists in the UI for a particular attribute, i.e. - sharpness, the degree of sharpness can be adjusted. However, items like the frequency based edge enhancement or depth enhancement do not have user controls (and never have), they're just better ways of performing these functions."
It will also be interesting to see whether the extra processing will be worth the price difference between the C8 and B8, or better than the processing on Sony's OLED TVs (my guess in both cases: it won't). One thing's for sure, however. After years of saying there's no picture quality difference between its cheapest and most expensive OLED TVs, LG's step-up processor in the 2018 models introduces that old familiar uncertainty. We'll have to wait for the reviews to see for sure.
High Frame Rate (HFR) capability: All of the new LG OLED sets will be able to play back high frame rate (up to 120 frames per second) video, which is smoother, particularly during motion, than standard 60fps video. Again that sounds pretty cool, but there are caveats. No HFR content is available today, although LG says some will be available via streaming later this year. Movies that use higher frame rates, for example, ""The Hobbit" by Peter Jackson and Billy Lynn's "Long Halftime Walk" are controversial, and many viewers don't like the effect. With action video and gaming content, however, it might be more widely accepted. If you really must have the absolute cutting-edge display, then HFR might be worth waiting for, but most users can skip it with no remorse.
...since they lack HDMI 2.1, none of LG's 2018 OLED sets can handle HFR from external devices like 4K Blu-ray players, just via streaming or over-the-air broadcasts.
Voice control with Google Assistant and Alexa: Beyond the picture stuff, the other new addition is built-in third-party voice control. Thanks to Google Assistant built-in you can speak TV-specific commands into the clicker ("switch to Cinema Mode" or "Turn off the TV when this movie ends"), ask about actors in a show you're watching or get a weather report, look at Google Photos, or order pizza. Owners of a Google Home speaker can have it command the TV without needing to use the remote, including the ability to power the set on and off and off hands-free.
LG will also support Amazon Alexa owners with device controls as well, although LG reps said the functionality wouldn't be as comprehensive as with Google Assistant -- you can't control TV power via Alexa, for example. In general I expect the 2018 LG sets to behave similar to Sony's sets, which already offer Alexa control via an app as well as Google Assistant.
In 2018 I expect LG to again offer the cheapest way to get the amazing image quality of OLED, but if you want a new TV now, I see little reason to hold off buying an "old" 2017 set. The new processor's impact will most likely be minor, at best, and high frame rates are niche and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Integrated smart assistants are neat, but hardly a major reason to wait.
So unless you want the high frame rate (streaming only - is your internet capable of streaming it?) or voice control, there probably isn't much in the new screens worth waiting for.

Does anyone here tried to connect a video projector to his Eclipse just by using a splitter in the sound center> Oled cable? It may be stupid but it would be an important “pro” factor to update to an eclipse in the future : not having to use a matrix and all the cables mess just to connect external sourc3 to a video projector would be very interesting for me.
my seller said that B&O doesn’t support that... which is what I expected from B&O, because it’s not standard and may make people complain because there is no image just because a Chinese splitter stopped functioning, but I think that could work easily if we chose a good splitter.

Good decision. I have done the same. My Beosound3000, Beolab3500 and ML/NL converter turned in for a Beosound35. Will be delivered this month.

Millemissen:On some NAS’s there is a transcoding feature. This means, that the SW of the NAS can transcode (change) the fileformat on the fly, if this is not supported by the player - mostly to MP3 or WAV. Did you check, if this is the case with your NAS? This can be disabled in the settings.
Hi, is the screen still green after todays update when you play flac files?
Martin: Hi, is the screen still green after todays update when you play flac files? Martin
Unfortunately it is when activating spotify/tunein via de App. But the screen can be turned of via the beoremote easily. What is solved as far as I saw is that the sound for tunein/spotify remains after the update. Before I had to reset the power for my BV. So small steps forward

Strange.......when I use the Beo app, I don't see the green screen anymore (TuneIn, DLNA (flac))
Stranger..........I can not play FLAC files with the build in LG app. Note: if the FLAC's are transformed to WAV/PCM by the DLNA server, than all my music shows up and are playable in this app.
Carolpa: Strange.......
Strange.......
This is how it works at my place today (when transform selection in NAS/DNLA turned off)
1. Flac files plays via App and via Beoremote (select Music option via Music button and the last played flac file continuous)
2. Flac files not visible when entering via LG Music App (and because of that also not able to select one).
Green screen still appears when select tunein or spotify via App but also via Beoremote. It does not appear when select music via DNLA
When You play FLAC files from NAS thru the B&O APP do you se the "cd-cover" in the same way as when you play Deezer with the APP?
What source do you choose in the app when you play DLNA-content from NAS? Is there a "DLNA"-source to choose?
Best RegardsMartin

Design update:
As of April the pleated wooden lamellas (known from BV14 a.o.) speaker grill will be available for both the 55" and the 65" Eclipse. Love it!
Price will be the same as for the alu grill. Customers that buy an Eclipse now, will get a fabric cover free of charge if they order the wood grill.
Roger
So I decided to get an Eclipse 55 to replace a BV 11–40. It arrived today and so far only good experiences; AppleTV works in DolbyVision, AmazonPrime works in HDR and compared to the BV 11 setting up the Sat channels was a lot easier; I’m in Germany so was pleasantly surprised that UK’s Freesat is recognised.

Hiort:That must look really awesome!
Having switched from the BV14 to an Eclipse I really miss the oak grill and look forward to replacing the the black with wood again.
On an other note what is the general opinion on the Eclipse sound bar when used in conjunction with BL18s up front And 8000s at the rear. Is it better to make the entire sound bar a centre speaker or break it up as left centre and right as well as the BL18s?
the guy who installed the Eclipse last week set up the “start up” group as the Eclipse speakers only. I’m sure it is better to include the other 4 great speakers wherever possible!
Any advice on “the best” setup would be greatly appreciated.
I think the front cover with wood will be nice!
On my Eclipse I have BL5's as front speakers and BL18 as rear. As "Start up" I only use the Eclipse speakers. Good for normal TV use.
Then I have a "music" group with only the BL5's for listning to music.I have a "movie" group with BL5 as front, BL18 as rear and Soundcentre as centre.
I also have a BL18 for listning to music in the background or mingle party.
I suggest you you do the same or make groups that would fit you.

Hi Erik,
Do you have an Apple TV 4k connected to your Eclipse?
Hi Erik. Many thanks for your reply. I’m currently trying a setup with all Eclispe speakers set as centre speakers for music and movie. I also have a TV group for just watching the TV with just the Eclipse speakers only. This is not the “Start up” but the last option in the list.
Hi Martin. I have the 4K Apple TV connected to the Eclipse. Can I help you in any way?
Hi Phirstpro,
I read in another thread that one Eclipse-user had problem with the Apple TV 4k. The problem was that he lost the centerchannel when watching movies with 5.1-setup. Do You know anything of this? Have You tried looking at some 4k dolbyvision movies with the Apple Tv? Does all sound-channels work as it should?

Hi Martin that’s a good question. The answer from me is, I don’t know but I will try it and get back to you soon. I’m assuming that the centre channel is included in the “Movie” setup and the Apple TV is using the Movie option. Sometimes it selects “Music” instead. It’s all a bit confusing really and it takes me a while to get my head around it all!
It would be great if You could check it up.
RegardsMartin

Hi Martin. I’ve just tried a load of 4k Dolbyvision trailers on the Apple TV. All sounded spot on with no drop out of the centre speaker. In fact the centre speaker really comes to its own and provides excellent vocals etc. I’ll now have to watch the movies!
cheers. Peter.
Great thanks
Yes I have a Apple TV 4K that is connected. Works fine and use my Beoremote one to control it. I don't use it as much as I did with my Avant 55 due to the inbuilt Netflix, Youtube and SVT Play app.
I watch 4K movies on my Oppo UDP 203 and only use Apple TV for Viaplay and Cmore+ apps.

Where did you find the SVT Play app on the Eclipse? Its not in the LG Content Store?
Hi Erik
Are you satisfied with the motion-handling from the TV when you se fast moving scenes on the screen?

You may be aware already, but the ATV 4K Youtube app doesn’t provide 4K resolution, so it’s better to use the built in app.
Are you sure? I`ve just looked at one of the demo 4K HDR videos on YouTube on the ATV4K connected to the 65 Eclipse. It looks as if the picture actually is 4K HDR, and pressing the info button shows 2160p as well. Something I miss, or?
