BeoNut since '75
I don't think its the same at all really - the MS issue was much more serious, in that its licensing agreement with third party PC / laptop makers imposed restrictions on them.
Apple have a limitation, whether self imposed or not, on their own product. There is absolutely no way the anti-trust people will or need to get involved.
Their view will be, this is an ever evolving landscape of new codecs and formats, the restriction placed on the consumer is low, it is not broadly harming consumer choice - this will get sorted out in time, if its even that important.
A product that does not support all audio / video formats does not constitute an anti-trust case.
In the end, if you want a streaming box that plays YouTube in 4K HDR, there are plenty of them. Very different from the Microsoft case.

Guys, please get back down to earth. What do you think is the market share that AppleTV has? 10%, or maybe even 20? Amazon did not sell AppleTV boxes for years, and we all survived somehow...
Nope. The stand for the Exlipse is smaller and not comparable with the Avant
Hi I’m curious as to how your Apple TV 4K works with the eclipse in DOLBY VISION? Mine works in hdr 60k when connected to the sound centre, but not Dolby vision. B&O have not yet found a solution to playing Apple 4K Dolby vision through the sound centre. It will play Dolby vision thru the other hdmi ports but there’s no control with the BeoRemote One.

Hi. All I know is that when I fire up the Apple TV vie the BeoRemote I get a flash bar in the top right hand corner saying DOLBY VISION with the Dolby symbol. I assume this is generated by the LG TV on receiving the appropriate signal from Apple TV 4K. I have set the Apple TV to deliver 4K UHD signal (it’s not automatically set). I have also made sure the HDMI cable is of good quality. The sound centre is connected to the LG TV via one of the four HDMI ports (ARC).
Where do you get the info about not being able to play Apple 4K Dolby Vision?
Cheers. P
Hello all..
On another note! Has anyone had any issues with the Wi-fi connection between the Eclipse and the router? I was getting a significant slow down on download despite the rout being right next to the Eclipse and showing an excellent connection. I ran a speed check using the inbuilt web browser and found it to be about one tenth of what is should be. I then connected a Ethernet cable and it was immediately back up to max speed. I did this several times with very similar outcomes. I am currently awaiting a response from my dealer but that may take a while!
Any info on this would help.
I had the LG C7 for 14 days, before returning it,
Had the same WIFI problems, one moment Netflix 4K worked, next it couldn't even show SD quality.
But do you use the built in WIFI of your supplier, because I have a feeling that its not a good connection in general.

Hi. Thanks for responding to my question.
I’m aware that the Wi-fi from my BT HUB is not great, that is why I have a number of Apple Wi-fi extenders and an AirPort Extreme hard wired to BT HUB creating a separate network. The Wi-fi on the BT HUB is turned off so it does not confuse things! I have a second AirPort Extreme about 2 feet away from the TV. This serves the entire loung and office area. The speed delivered is the same as if I was connected directly to the BT HUB and that’s the highest I can get in the area I live.
Sorry to hear you were having so much trouble with the Wi-fi and that you had to return it. I put the question to LG but they just came came back with the usual stock answer assuming I have no brains! They actually suggested I made sure it wasn’t near a microwave!
what did you end up with in the end?
Cheers. p
I did not return it because of the WiFi, but because when I got it, it was clear that I should save up for a Beovision instead. I kept my current tv which is a older LG OLED, which have no problem.
I am very temped to pull the trigger on a Eclipse now,
But a few question:
Does more have issue with the dolby Vision from Apple TV, or does it work for most of you?
Does my buttons work yet?
Does any one have a better picture of the oak finish than I uploaded?

yea, it’s a difficult choice to consider leaving Bang & Olufsen. I very nearly went down that road when we were having a whole baskof issues with the BV14. I’ve had the Eclipse for a couple of weeks now and love the picture quality and getting used to the Sound Centre. I look forward to fitting the elusive oak speaker frett once it is available to match my BL18’s. I think someone said they may be available in April/May. My dealer was being very tight lipped on the subject.
There are some attractive trade in offers this week on the Eclipse. Trade in any old tv and get £1300 off the 55 inch.
cheers P

Not sure how much this helps, but I have my Eclipse using WiFi with an Apple Time Machine about 6 ft away, but on the other side of a wall (US construction so it is hollow). So far, no issues.

Thanks Stan. I did see in another thread that others were having the exact issue I’m having. I’ll live with it being attached by Ethernet for now and see what the dealer says when he gets around to replying! I did a full power down reset today and it was fine for an hour or so then appalling thereafter! It dropped from 52mbps to 2mbps. Not good.
Cheers. Peter
It sems that the LG has an issue with getting max speed from the provided connection (LG forums report the same). We have 160Mbps speed, and I’ve both a wired cat6 cable from the router to the Eclipse and tried WiFi connection from the TimeCapsule 3m from he Eclipse. In both cases Speedtest on Eclipse show max 95-98 Mbps. The AppleTV4k box that are connected to the TV (wired) reports 160Mbps constantly.
But since 80-90 Mbps is sufficient to get UHD on Netflix and Amazon, we haven’t any speed issues. The Eclipse is just fantastic!
My guess is the TV is connecting to one of your WiFi extenders. Perhaps there's some periodic interference with the main base station so it goes looking for a better signal (which might offer better rf, but worse throughput) March ybe you can see this with Airport Utility. My Essence would do this. My solution for the Essence was to hardwire it to Airport and turn off the WiFi. If you have the option to use a wired Internet connection, why bother with WiFi?

Haha. I dream of 160mbps! With fibre to the box the best I can get is 52mbps. The price you pay for living in the wild North York Moors. I’ll check out the LG forum too.
Dolby Vision is intermittent.Sometimes it works. Sometimes the screen goes black and eventually the Apple TV will default back to HDR 60K. I had enough and decided to keep it in Hdr. Am using the recommended Belkin ultrafast cable too.
Struer in Denmark are apparently working on the solution... since I reported the issue way back in Oct 17 ! A dealer worth it's salt will confirm.
Had initial probs wilth Netflix and download speed hence poor picture resolution , 480p was the norm! Hard wired the TV to my BT Hub. Forgot about wifi and B&O - pretty useless. Reduced the apple extreme base stations around the house too.Initial set up was wireless connection from BTHH to apple extreme base station with hard wire from this to the TV. Too intermittent. Went for the jugular and hard wired direct to the BTHH. Dealer was useless. They're sales people interested in quotas. Eventually Netflix settled down and got 2160p pictures.
If that helps perhaps, as I have an LG TV and 4K Netflix works excellent through WiFi and Apple AirportExtreme router... ...on the router I created a 5GHz network with different SSID and then connected TV specifically to that one (plus, “forgot” 2.4GHz SSID on TV).
That way you will at least be certain that the TV connects where you want it to connect and it could help isolate the issue.
w5bno123:I was having connection issues with Netflix on my showroom Eclipse TV’s. They are both hardwired, I was constantly seeing error NW-2-4 which indicates a server connection issue. As everything else in the shop worked I assumed there was an issue with the TV so reported it to B&O, I was the only one with this problem so I reported it to Netflix. They explained that you need a solid connection to all three of their servers unlike YouTube and Prime TV. If it ever did connect the picture would start in 480p and take about 3 minutes to build up to 2160 at which point it would stop altogether. I tried wirelessly connecting the TVs to my network to see if this would help, no difference. I use Zen broadband and pay for 80mbps download so this shouldn’t be a problem! I had noticed over time my speed slowing down and peaking at about 20mbps... I almost gave up with it until Southern Electric came in to replace our electricity meter with a new smart meter. When the power went back on I noticed that I wasn’t getting a LAN connection, without this nothing in the shop would work, I couldn’t even process a card payment. They blew up my Draytek 2820 router! So I rushed down to PC World and bought a new Netgear Nighthawk VDSL router/modem which replaced the BT Openreach modem and Draytek combination. I went straight to Netflix and it came on and displayed 4K instantly!!! I did a speed check and I was hitting 78mbps again! If you have a router that you think works, it probably doesn’t especially if it’s supplied by BT, you can replace it easily with a Netgear Nighthawk D7000. My problems were solved and I am very happy, thanks Southern Electric.
I will chime in here. We install professional WiFi managed systems into homes and do see pretty much all the WiFi brands mentioned. I'll reserve comment as generally environmental circumstances come into play with home WiFi solutions including the adaptor, internet latency and the speed of the TV's processor. Though I will say when you have a problem and you can't actually see what happens at the network layer there is a fair amount of guesswork on the root cause.
From what we have seen on LG TV's is interesting and relevant here. Most including C7 panels struggle to connect to Ethernet at 1GB full duplex. When they do their throughput rivals a sluggish 100Mb Ethernet adaptor. Wi-Fi is not strictly AC or even N speeds either. Sony's TV's by way of example do not have the same problems.
So how do we resolve this? Answering my own question, we force the Ethernet adaptors to 1GB / half duplex where we see a connection that requires it or we may remove the slower connection WiFi speeds one by one. Others we have set Ethernet adaptors at 100Mb full duplex... Or we bypass it all, so a lot of options that home users may not have access to. I have my suspicion on what is going on but at this stage there is no straight answer.
When doing the bypass option we suggest an Apple TV or Foxtel (Sky here) so that internet service to the panel or TV is then just used for updates. Not a great answer here.
Just some thoughts.
Oh and I am happy to test an Eclipse's WiFi and Ethernet port to put some clarity around this, should it be possible as I am in Australia and I am not quite ready to install one myself.
Beoaus.
I found another picture of the Oak speaker fret the Amsterdam dealer have it already,
After seeing this pic I am again considering the Alu front instead.
Anyone have some good pictures of the fret?
HDMI A to D does not support UHD/4K signals above 30 fps (HDR and Dolby Vision signals). E.g. from Apple’s new 4K TV box, Chromecast Ultra, and selected set top boxes delivering 4K signals
Been on going since day 1.
I use the Belkin cable. 1m
Apple TV works thru the soundcentre but configure the settings to HDR 60K on Apple TV.
No joy playing Dolby Vision though.
Maybe next year,
Why won't PS4 work with the soundcenter?
As I understand it, it is only Dolby Vision that do not work,
And as PS4 do not have this,
But I am currently setting up the tv now, so I will test it,
I am also connecting Apple tv through the Soundcenter, and then waiting with dolby vision, or taking it through the native apps.
I now just waiting it to install the software, that takes a long time, and I can't really use it for anything other then normal tv before it is done.

I have waited an hour now, and a bit afraid to turn it off, as I can't do it with the remote, and the manuel is saying not to.

Wait, what? Are you saying if you plug in a Blu-ray player you won't get 4k HDR?
BV6-26, BV7-40, BL7.4, BL3, BL5, BS9000, BC1, ES1, Beo4, BeoPort
blu ray plays at 24fps so the TV does support this.
My Panasonic is HDR 4K, however I still get the occasional loss of picture / snowstorm
This tv inspires little confidence.
Especially when the support is non existent. I received that comment after banging on for 3-4 months.
Bottom line is this is a TV and sales people will sell it and not come clean about these issues. Sorry. I'm one of the suckers who bought this junk
