My bad - I meant under the TV (video) sources. Not a very intuitive menu layout...

poodleboy: Roger: When using PUC together with a device that supports CEC, it is important that you disable the CEC. "clipped" If this CEC setting/HDMI Control not taken into consideration when installing a TV, the connected devices can send CEC commands to the BeoVision Eclipse which will cause conflict with the PUC control and potentially cause unwanted behaviour like automatic source change or the TV switching on by itself. Was this in the Manual or was B&O the only TV company that didn't know about CEC? As even I (and every other B&O lover) know, whilst software patches are necessary and appreciated, they often create unintended consequences.

Which is what happens when you have a company that thinks regression testing isn't worth the money. Or who rush out buggy s/w quickly just to have something to sell and then have to rush out repairs quickly before they lose whatever is left of their sagging reputation.
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Indeed, though the issues around the Eclipse seem to be relatively minor by comparison with the Android BV's.
I was alarmed to read on the forum the other day a Horizon or BV14 owner mentioning that sound occasionally disappears, prompting a power cycle. I had the same issue with the 14 i bought 18 months ago! Yes, 18 months ago.....
I swapped it for an Avant 55 (pre Android) after 6 months, and havent looked back - all works and a very good unit for a second screen.
Praying like crazy my 12-65 (main screen) lasts another 3-4 years - if it gave up soon, it would be a real dilemma.
Roger: @Anders - just double checked, the HDMI control with the toggle on/off is under the menu called TV and then HDMI///Roger

See KMA’s excellent response above, he explains it well. I have a lot of classic B&O, stuff that just works and has for decades with little to no hassles or repairs. Over the last 5 or so years the company has been gutted, and I don’t like the company peeing on my head and telling me is raining.

KMA: Jeff: Truth hurts eh? Why are you here if you only want to hear hagiographies about B&O? Jeff Beovirus victim, it's gotten to be too much to list! I may give a similar impression to fellow Beoworlders as you, and if so, the reason is simple: I love the brand and B&O has been a part of my life for decades (some times more, some times – like just now – a little less). From BeoSystem 7000 / BeoCenter 9500, the legacy Avants, Pentas, BL8000s, BL6000s, RLs of the past, Ouverture, BS9000, BeoVision 7 / 10 / 11 – I am so dissappointed at what B&O offers today. They used to be truly premium: quality, superiority in audio & vision, and ease-of-use. Like No One Else (today, that tagline is a blasphemy to B&O's legacy). Today, they have compromised everything but the aluminium! It makes me sad, mad, critical and judgemental – because I still do love the brand that has been so integral in my everyday-life. Right up until the point I sold my BeoVision 11 and realized where B&O is today. Are they a luxury brand? By the brand heritage only, not by the products they sell today. The 7 CICs are forgotten, and I'm pretty sure that both Peter and Svend are turning in their graves There is truly an eclipse on the company!

Well said indeed.
Jeff just wants to display his disapointment!
When you know that, you can easily pick out the posts, where he is adding something of value....which he does from time to time.

Anyone else having issues with TuneIn turning off after approx. half an hour? The TV stays on but there is no audio. I have to re-select the source in order to reconnect. This has been a problem during this weekend. No problems before that.

B&O TV should have stopped with BV11 because nothing will ever be as good from B&O. I said it and I love B&O.
Apple make a sound system for £ 330 that is good or better sound than all BeoPlay short of A9. The only products B&O have trouble with are electronic. Moderators and MM (10000 posts in 5 years means you can't pick out the turds from the beans or is it the other way around?) don't like the warning that some products are Ferrari from the Fiat parts bin and some others are just Fiat. But at least there is a Ferrari and Fiat sales and service.
BV12-65 perhaps represents the more recent high watermark i would suggest (full disclosure i have one).
I think the TV debate has been rehashed endlessly here - flat wafer think rectangles don't leave much scope for design value added, so in that sense its a tough challenge for B&O. But agreed on the software failings, though even there i would suggest that other brands have plenty of software issues too. Siri is very poor and miles behind their peers, Sony TV's of the last year or so have had to deal with the Dolby Vision issue. And there are plenty of others. Perhaps not as basic as some of B&O's stumbles, but plenty of grumbling on those brands forums.
If i need to get a new high end TV today, they all have compromises, unfortunately. LG's are the best featured, but have a marmite UI and not the best upscaling and motion processing. Sony's have the best upscaling and motion processing, but use Android (ugh!) and are missing DV. Samsung's picture processing is ghastly.
Picking something like the 12-65 was easy, i dont think the choices are so straightforward now, B&O or otherwise.
Sandyb: i dont think the choices are so straightforward now, B&O or otherwise.
I agree with your overall assessment but disagree with the conclusion.
Previously BV9-50 and then BV 12-65 were the high points but in the current market, Loewe BILD 7 does rise to the top for various reasons that hobble the other brands like B&O, Sony, LG etc...
Full disclosure, I own the Loewe 7.77 and the experience has been absolutely extraordinary.
Indeed, did think about Loewe, and if i did need to change my 12-65 i'd give them a proper look and serious consideration
(even though i previously had a Loewe Airspeaker, which while lovely sounding, was so bad software wise it belies description)
You have yours connected to B&O speakers using an Almando box if i remember correctly? One thing i do love about my setup is that i can tap one of the speakers in other rooms (A9 or BS2) and it just picks up the audio from the lounge or bedroom BV's (be that music, radio or TV). Not sure if that still works with your setup...apologies if you'd covered that in a previous post that you did once your were all set up.
In the meantime you've got me dreaming of a 77 inch screen!
In terms of being an integrated Beovision, sound, stand, etc. I agree with poodleboy that the BV11 is the one. In terms of being the highest level of video performance, the BV12-65 is it, a stunning piece of Panasonic plasma glass there.
It's all been downhill since then.
tigerisak: Im having issues with the ABL on my Beovision Eclipse. And from what I have heard and read from Bang Olufsen it is not possible to disable. When a white scene that has more than 60% white color, the screen dims drastically. On LG televisions this can be disable through an option called ABL but not on the Eclipse. Got this answer from Bang Olufsen support: ABL is an LG protection Feature to avoid OLED screen damage. In some LG TV's settings can be adjusted using a special Service Mode remote control. At the Eclipse this service mode is not available for customers and unauthorized change of settings may influence warranty. Only standard Picture settings can be changed. Please try it out to see if you can find settings that will minimize the dimming effect I have disabled the Eco settings and turned down the auto contrast to none. Any suggestions?

On LGs C7 panel it is possible through its service-menu.Really enjoying when watching TV and a bright scene comes up and the TV dims.
In the latest Home Cinema Choice there is a long-term test of the LG OLED65E7. Some of the problems noticed with this panel could be addressed when LG's new Alpha 9 video processor and their 2018 E8 series is introduced.
Does anyone know if or when these latest panels will be available in the Eclipse?
Villarsch (B&O enthusiast since the 1960s)
Spent some time with the Eclipse 55 with the wood panel (@B&O Copenhagen, Strøget). Not so sure about it compared to the alu cover anymore The wood panel was a lot "richer" than expected, thicker and a lot more dominant compared to the BV14 wood (which I find both discrete and elegant). I guess the Eclipse with the wood panel will look great in the right environment, but it will perhaps not blend in as easily as the alu cover. Maybe existing owners should opt for a home trial before they commit?
And the wood panels are delayed, anyway
Regarding new panels for the Eclipse: the planned swap is June, but as we all know it will depend heavily on them emptying the current stock in time.

Any news regarding the Soundcenter and Dolby Vision over 25 HZ on the Apple TV 4K? Still doesn't work with 30 HZ or over.
I went to the local dealer last week about this very issue. I reminded them I had raised this almost 6 months ago when I purchased Apple TV 4K. I also mentioned that I cannot put my 4K ultra Hd Panasonic blu Ray player on its optimum settings as the picture played intermittently : snowstorm effect
They said it’s unfortunate but there’s nothing they can do other than wait for a solution.
They also mentioned most of their customers use the Eclipse with Sky Hd only and therefore issues regarding 30 hz playback are on the back burner.
How sad this so called premium package is such a lame duck with ill fitting dentures instead of teeth.
incredibly disappointing after 6 months use.
Have not recommended this Tv to anybody whatsoever.
Hi Roger, how definite is that? B&O in Sydney haven't heard anything about that (but I guess they would say that, wouldn't they). AFAIK, the Eclipse is selling reasonably well so I would assume that stocks would deplete around that time.
Hard to believe that LG are still producing old screens for B&O - I imagine B&O swapped over to the new screens already, it's just a question of length of production time and current stock depletion, but that is my guess.

Finally, after 6 months of waiting I have had the issue fixed regarding Dolby Vision from external sources (eg. Apple TV 4K). B&O came to my home and changed some of the eletronics in the soundbar, the cable between soundbar and TV panel and also new software.
The service guy fra B&0 said, it had been extreemly complex to indetify the problem and how fix it. He told me, that B&O was still searching for a way to fix the problem with software alone, in order to avoid a major repair operation. He did not know if they would successfull or not.

Thats really interesting. Went to my Bang Olufsen store here in Frederiksberg in Denmark and got the response that there were still no fix. And this was yesterday. What was your approach?
It seems that the latest FW has generated issues turning the picture on for external devices after Eclipse has been used as speakers. Here is what happens for our tv-set:
When using the Eclipse as speakers - streaming Spotify music to the Eclipse - for a while, and then turn the Eclipse OFF, there is no TV-picture when turning the Eclipse ON again using the remote “TV” + “go”. No picture from the STB, only the sound. Screen is black. This exact error occurs also when trying to use the connected Apple TV 4K box (“TV + Apple TV” + “go”) after using Eclipse as speakers (streaming Spotify). The picture does not come on using the “List” + “Picture On” either, it seems that nothing else works to get the picture on. The sound is ok, but no picture. If we then turn the Eclipse OFF when ‘watching’ a black screen, wait a bit, and then turn it ON again, then both picture and sound are present. Have tried to set The STB and Apple TV both as “Always on” and as “Turn off when in standby”, but the picture does still not get displayed on the screen, only the sound. This occurs only for the external hdmi devices, not for the inbuild Netflix/Amazon/YouTube apps. Have of course unplugged the tv several times, and waited 2-5 min each time. A bit annoying that we need to do the following to watch TV: Turn ON, then wait a bit (black screen) while listening to the TV sound, turn OFF, wait a bit, and the turn ON again. The STB is connected to HDMI-A, ATV4k on HDMI-B.
I’ve reported this to B&O support, and have sent in logfiles. Haven’t heard anything from them yet, though.
Anyone else experiencing the same?

I haven't experienced this one, but a few of us have experienced the "opposite": no sound from any of the sound center sources (Tune-In, Deezer, Spotify, DLNA), but TV sources work fine. I will keep a look out for this one, too. Disappointing.
Hi BeoET
make a total factory reset. That has solved my problems with no sound for now.

Hi, sorry to say that I got the sound-foult back again today when started Deezer this afternoon with BO App. No sound and the sound menu says soundinput 0.0 and soundoutput 2.0. Very strange behaviour.
i have reported to Beocare but NO answer yet!!!!
I personally found the BO app inconsistent.
Sometimes it would work well and other times it would stop the functionality of the BeoRemote one to control the Eclipse.
If I used the app to control the Eclipse then I would have to put the Eclipse into standby using the app.
Then I would revert back to my BeoRemote one. The two would not work together, analogous to LG and the BO marriage it seems.
Having had no suitable response from Denmark and my local dealer, I decided to abandon the app and stick with the BeoRemote one.
I purchased an Apple HomePod and and together with my Apple 4K TV found streaming to be issue free so no need for Spotify or Deezer.
The HomePod puts BO music products to shame. Primarily because it works and works consistently.
Unfortunately Apple 4k and the Eclipse are not fully functional wrt 30Hz but as we all know thats another story.
Deezer too, is far too buggy on the Eclipse so would avoid.
Sorry about the negativity but the Eclipse seems to be a white elephant - in my experience anyway
The only issue I've seen lately with the app is that it sometimes leaves the TV in a state that is different than what the Beo remote expects. I forget the exact sequence, but once in a while, I have to re-select "TV + Go" (even though it is currently showing the output from the STB connected to "TV + Go") to make the TV respond to the remote. Actually, I think it has more to do with not sending PUC commands to the STB. Yes, it would be better if it did not do this. On the other hand, it's an easy enough to fix, and it doesn't happen that much (touch wood).
