Yep.. Frustrating that B&O didn't have a time machine when they released the BeoSound 8 so that they could make it iPhone 5 3 years ago... *irony*

Come on.. I mean... Sometimes hardware just isn't upgradable for ever... B&O couldn't have known that the dock was going to change. I know it's a pity... but that was bound to happen when Apple made a choice to change the 30pin. Maybe you should try the 30pin to 8pin convertor :-/

It's a miracle that B&O releases a dock connector for the A8 so fast..

I've got the old Beosound 8 - what will happen to us?

... isn't upgradable forever????? b&o actually sells this thing (i.e. apple store, beoplay store, amazon etc,) as a dock for iphones and ipods....

thanks for your hint with the lightning-connector-but it won't work at the moment (original answer from b&o).

i can't see a dock-difference to an a8-so you're right, it is a miracle.

Seriously; who is to blame here? Who decided to change the Iphone connector? Apple! So for once, blame it on them, since all other Ipod docks in the world have suddenly become obsolete..There is an adaptor, I know, but all Iphones 5 will look like a BeoLab 8000 : defying gravity..Stick out tongue

And that is the exact reason why B&O released the BeoPlay A8 to replace the BS8, for once, they were fast on technology..

Technology changes all the time :-). Agreed. Deal with it and move on ;)

The current (now obsolete) docking assembly on the BeoSound 8 is most likely available as a part. What if you bent or broke your BeoSound 8 dock last year and took the unit in for repair? There must be a replacement dock part. B&O could simply update the replacement part and provide us with the option of having our nearest service center install it for a nominal fee.

BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.

Well, the "miracle" took a "little" time ...

I was told due to the fruit company approving the connector/adaptor - but not its packing! 
End of April the iPhone 5 adaptor for Play A8 shall be available.

The part has been finished by B&O for some time, it was Apple that was delaying its launch.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Hi Millemissen,

presentation of Beoplay A8 is now one year ago, and the announcement of the "A8 dock upgrade program" happened in November last year. To deliver customers with this dock can't take longer than finishing the airport of Berlin.

So please, let's be fair: I'm not a killjoy, but B&O!

Like Chris said - B&O had this part ready many months ago but Apple took a long time to approve it so they could get it out into distribution.

Bang & Olufsen of Liverpool have now got the new lightning connector for the BEOPLAY A8 in stock. It will be supplied Free Of Charge customers who have already bought an A8 and also to new customers who purchase up to 1st June will also receive the connector FOC.
