Hello guys,

Finally I'm moving to a new apartment and the dealer offered me a discounted price.

I got an offer for the Avant 55-NG, one Beosound Moment and a pair of BL20's

Budget was around $20K - $24K.

From what I'm reading, there will be a new TV coming out, the Eclipse and another pair of speakers as well.

The dealer showed me the picture of the Eclipse but I didn't like the design at all.  My problem is that there is no 60 or 65 inch TVs available so I'm force to go for the 55. No room or budget for the 75 inches.

What do you suggest ? Do I hold my horses and wait for the new products coming out ? Would a LED TV outclass the Avant-NG picture quality ?

I'm totally lost. As for the BL20's they sound great but not sure if there will be a pair of speakers between the BL5 and the 20's .

Spending a large amount on a product which has a lifecycle is always like hurling yourself off a diving board. Do you just stand there, or do you jump?

If you waited for a new OLED TV, and a new pair of speakers - would there be a Mk2 version of the OLED, and some newer and better speakers next year?

If you waited until next year, would there be a soon-to-be-released Mk3 OLED, with a Mk2 version of the new speakers - both better in some way..

It's the same with cars. It never stops. It never will.

All you can do is treat the present moment as a 'snapshot'. Freeze it, then ask yourself "Am I happy with this purchase - with how it looks, and how it performs. Does it do everything I want it to - and does it suit my needs. Am I happy with the price?"

If the answer to those is all 'Yes' - then just do it. Yes - thumbs up

Wait.....

Software on the NG is still kind of spotty.

Get a first gen or wait... my two cents.

As for the moment and the speakers... that's a winner.

Yes I know , I don't usually wait for what's next but from what I understand, B&O are releasing new products this month ?

Gee, the below posts are very discouraging Sad

So basically the Avant-NG software is buggy, the Beosound moment is full of issues and the BL20's are prone to random failure ?

Didn't expect this for the amount of money I'm willing to pay....

Myself and others on this forum who have experienced this issue and have had warranty service have not experienced the particular issue in the thread again. Disconcerting as it was, I think it has been addressed by B&O.

You're right, however that these aren't issues one would expect from products at this price point.

Attempt 2

I have had 3 problems with my Beolab 20s

I have NOT exercised the warranty option

I am happy with my speakers

Two products (new speakers costing more than the BL20s; new TV with uncertainty around cost and delivery dates) are being announced over the next 4 weeks.

If you don't take today's discount someone else might.

If this is the most that you can afford, be happy with the dealer's offer.

If you can stretch your purse and calendar then you can always wait.

From what the dealer told me, the Eclipse will be priced slightly less than the Avant for the 55" size.

I woud wait

With the TV you have to go on the Picture Quality , the design will fall in to place regardless.

So even if you save $3k, i think wait for the OLED

The BL20s will be there for a while.

If the BL20s are a "special" are these the Mk1 or Mk2?  - if you like them and the price why not get them and wait for the TV?

I'm not sure how to tell the difference between the MKi and MKii but the B&O logo is illuminated if that's the right word

Illuminated logo means Mk2 on BeoLab 20

I have had one couple of Beolab 20 MK2 for about two month now and they are connected wireless to my Moment and there is no issues at all. Works really good. Also multiroom with a BeoPlaye M5 works good. Waiting for the new TV.... If i dont like the design of it then I will buy a BV14 or BV11.

Quick question, I have a dark grey floor and white wallpaper. I thought of going for the Rumba Red BL20's

Many people advised me against the color since resale value ( in case of future upgrades ) will be much cheaper.

Which color do you recommend ?

Go for what you like and what looks good now. You're not going to be selling them anytime soon right? You can always change the speaker covers later. Or just get an extra pair of speaker covers in black if you're looking to protect your resale value.

I agree with this. Get the colour you want. You may have them for many years.

I agree.

Boring black, or 'Oh my, they got dirty quickly' White are the favourites - but why not have an individual colour?!  It's a very individual speaker after all...

I'm happy for you.

You'll love the product.

Regardless of mine and other suggestions.

It's your money and your home.

Enjoy them and turn them up loud.

The beolab 20s are spectacular speakers.

Sounds like quite an unhelpful dealer.

He closing... Not an incentive to give sparkling service I suppose. Sad

The covers are around £180 a pair, plus VAT, I think.
