Have anyone experience sound delay on WISA speakers connected with the B&O android TVs.

It feels strange when I vist one client the has this setup Avant 85 plus Beolab90

When I start turning on and watch news channel, the sound is delayed.

Its like there is an echo coming from the speakers. But if I try to go to speaker groups and check each speaker then go back again, it will be fine.

There are also times the when switching from different source, for example STB to apple tv then back to STB, the STB becomes mute.

Could this be problem with the stb or with the TV itself?

Hi zerocool143,

Yes, there are two issues here - both the Avant and the Beolab 90s have a processing latency, which is heard as a slight delay to the sound.  This is quiet small so it won't usually be noticed (in the Avant, the sound and picture processing times should be the same, so you will only hear this when feeding in audio from another source).  However, when playing music such as Sonos to multiple rooms, you can end up the the TV delay causing that room to lag behind the sound in your other rooms.

The DSP processing in the Beolab 90s compounds this issue, although the speakers can be set to "Low Latency Mode" via the web interface or app to reduce this delay, although it cannot be completely removed.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

How can this be justified on a 88000 Euro system from the same brand ?

sigh!!!

I would check that both the TV and the BL90 settings are configured to Wide Mode and not Narrow mode.

I would anticipate that the delay is caused by the process time of the BL90 doing on the fly corrections to Narrow mode DSP that it cannot compensate sufficiently to combat "lip-sync" issues. Wide mode alleviates this level of computation and gives a natural properly timed sound.

i have also found that with the BL90, the Avants Centre speaker array sort of "gets in the way" with relatively clumsy sound and thus, I have deactivated mine on all sound groups and sound profiles etc....and relay solely on phantom imaging from the BL90s

Because contrary to popular belief, the Beolab 90's aren't able to walk on water - even for 88000 Euro.

The he vast majority of us that own these loudspeakers won't be connecting every cable and test every function combination. We won't most likely be sat at home worrying about the tonal qualities of the national news propaganda service or if the plot of the never-ending soap is in any way impaired.

Funny enough, I like listening to music on mine and maybe a mass-audience cannon-fodder DVD blockbuster on mine. Apart from volume, I never touch a setting and leave everything in automatic selection. Maybe I'm not getting my money's worth?

PS. No matter how good WISA is or is not, I would have cable between the Avant and the BL90 Master.

Steve at Sounds Heavenly:
Low Latency Mode

where I can see this in the app?

Because this client of ours both the Beolab 90 Rose Gold in London and send here in Dubai and asked as to set it up with the Avant85NG.

So what I did is to make the Start up speaker group to be the TV speaker only. Then when we wants to make it surround for apple tv, I made a button to activate the surround speaker groups.

Its is very strange when that echo is coming and I tried to check the speaker roles of each speaker the sound will be back to normal.

I want to do also the Active room Compensation Calibration but I dont see it in the App. Or it will not work when it is connected with the TV.

Because I remember in the video for ARC Calibration, Geoff Martin said that the TV calibration will overwrites the Beolab 90 calibration.

I'm currently away from my Avant and Labs so I'm doing this from memory;

Setup the sound groups: 1. Narrow, 2. Wide, 3. Omni, 4. TV in the Avant.

Set all the Avants Sound modes (TV, Movie, News, Music etc... ) with the sound profile you want. I.e On music, set to BL90 fronts only, Narrow mode. DVD (or AV equivalent) set to 5.1/7.1 speaker setup (I personally recommend killing the Avants centres speakers totally) with wide mode on the Lab90s.

Repeat as required for all functions. All AV setups, also recommend BL90s in Wde mode setting in the Avant.

Load the iOS BeoLab 90 app. You can also do it via PC by loading a specific web page. Follow the app instructions to calibrate. Wide, Narrow, Omni takes about a hour to warble through (20 mins each). Save 1. To Narrow, 2. to Wide etc.....as per the Avant. The BL90s are now calibrated to a single position ARC optimisation. Repeat if you want to do other listening areas.

Back to the Avant, you now have to link the BL90 sound profiles in the Avant profiles. This tells the Avant what to switch to in terms of BL90 modes.

It it is all quite logical and I did my settings and calibrations myself once the Customer app was available. It just needs some patience to understand the multiple layers of settings and what they mean.
