Hi,
I received my Beovox 4500 speakers back from a friend; after lending them out for a few years :-)
That made me think about how to use them, because I still love them. Therefore I came up with the following idea, but I am not sure if this would technically work:
At the moment I am using Beolab 4500 speakers as front speakers in my home cinema setup. The idea is to connect the Beolab 4500 speakers in parallel tot the amplifier of the Beolab 4500 speaker. Knowing that the speakers are 8 ohm; setting them up in parallel would bring down the resistance to 4 ohm. Therefore this would require a higher load (amps) om the amplifier. Since I cannot find detailed specifications about these amplifiers, I am not sure if this would work (ie not harm the amplifiers).
Any thoughts if this would work?
Not sure if it would work, but what are you trying to achieve with the extra speakers anyway? If you want extra channels then why not just buy a Passive and power the Beovox 4500s from that?
I thought about that option, but this is quite difficult due to the needed wiring.
This is the result

Hi Bieele,
That looks superb!
You just need to be careful not to overload the amplifiers, ie. don't turn them up too loud. Maybe someone has the spec for these amps, so that we can identify if they can cope with a nominal 4 Ohm load at higher volumes?
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Thanks for the reply.
Next to the looks, I am also happy with the sound; I tested them for the last days and did not experience any problems. Seems to work, but it would be great if someone has the spec for these amps to verify.

Dennis
I must say this looks very nice! If you can get your hands on another pair with different color cloths, you could try comibining different colors!
The service manual for Beolab 3000/4500/5000 (on site, available elsewhere too) has specs for 3000 and 5000 and it says:
Beolab 3000 (Type 6711, 6712, 6713, 6714, 6715) Power Amplifier: Long-term maximum output power: 90 watts.
How’s this working? Still ok 4 years later?
Yes, still works fine
Thanks for the reply. How’d you physically connect them, special hardware? How’d you mount them, special brackets? Have you experienced any overheating from the amp? How did you put them in series? I have so many questions because I would like to do something similar.
sorry to bother you again but how did you connect these? how did you connect the wiring at the back?
Hi,- The Beovox 4500 is connected in parallel to the Neolab 4500 speakers (on the output of the Neolab 450o amp)- No special hardware used to mount; I used the standard wall-mount and mounted the Beolab 4500 and Beovox 4500 speaker individually (each speaker on its own wall-mount). works fine if you measure carefully.
