I've managed a temporary solution of sorts. Putting black tape over the Beo4 transmitter leaving a tiny slit in the tape.
As long as the Beo4 is held close to the BL3500 it works and the TV's do not react. I would still like to know whether there is a proper way to deal with this issue.

On newer Beo4s you can turn down the power of the IR. See here: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/7442/66207.aspx#66207
Thanks Guy. Unfortunately it's an older Beo4, but that's a useful tip if circumstances arose whereby the BV11 Beo4 was turning everything else on.
Provided you have the newer Type 1710 Beo4 then you can change the Infra-Red Power via the Service Menu between a range of 1 to 7 where 1 is the lowest power and provides a signal strength of about 5% of the full power.
The Default IR power setting is 4
To enter the Service Menu press DOT(Standby) and list at the same time and then MENU and OK button. Press the UP button until IRPWR: X is displayed.

Graham,
If you happen to have a Beo5/6 you can also change the power level.

B&O made IR reducers for the old style Beo4's which fitted over the IR transmitter. and were used in the dealerships.
You may wish to talk to your local dealer to see if they have one they are prepared to provide to you.
Thanks Keith.
We have one Beo4 with the central toggle, that was supplied with the BV11. We also have a range of older Beo4's that came with different TV's: all look similar at first glance but they are all different. Occasionally controllers find their way into the wrong rooms, where they might perform the correct functions but often not. Even the Beo4 that came with the BV11 is probably the wrong version because Picture Mute is not available on the radio button.
If the taped kitchen Beo4 performs OK I'll probably stick with it!
Did you try L.OPT 4 for your BL3500? Works with my BL3500.
You have to activate sources with the LINK button.

Thanks Stefan. I'll play around with the options a bit more and see how many sources I can add to the LINK button that will potentially work just with the BL3500.
