As a newcomer to B&O equipment, I seek some general advise on a newly aquired Beocenter 9500 needing some tender loving are.  Unfortunately my previous post and query in the vintage section went unanswered, so hoping someone on this apparently more active forum may be able to assist.

My first task is re-attachement of the glass displays to their holders. After soaking the plastic holders in  general cleaning alcohol for 15mins, the old adhesive strips were removed with ease.  Recognizing that the glass displays have a special coating, can alcohol or acetone be used for the removal of the very firmly attached adhesive strips without damage to the coating?

Secondly, could someone please advise from where I can obtain drive belts for the tapedeck (old version) & the CD drive. And also a kit of caps. The model is type 2506 with 1.2 s/w.

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Hi Dave,

There's some advice about cleaning the panels here: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/9570/83873.aspx#83873

... but when I did mine I simply left the remains of the tape in situ and used super glue gel to reattach the plastic frames - it has worked well.

New tape drive belts can be obtained from Martin (Dillen on the forum) - send him a PM.  He also does kits of caps.

Sorry that you didn't get a response earlier!

EDIT: Also see this post: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/2159/21943.aspx#21943 (also linked from the above thread)

As with all the old B&O gear, there are "usual suspects"to attend to when restoring.

This particular Beocentre is one of B&O's best efforts, and your restoration of it will be rewarded with good sound and innovative operation, and not least it's classic good looks!

As mentioned above, you can get all the belts and cap kits from Martin(Dillen).

There are no belts in the cd mechanism, but there is a notorious capacitor issue here(C2103)that is alway's worth sorting.Again Martin can advise on this as the part is critical, not just any old cap will do!

There are other area's to investigate too, such as the speaker relay, and power supply caps/dry joints.

All this is in the archived posts, and you might like to upgrade your membership (good value!)in order to access service info too.

Very popular (deservedly)unit,so lot's of help available here.Keep us posted.

This was really the kind of feedback I was hoping for, and much appreciated.  Thanks to all for your helpful replies.

I've held off work pending info, but now plan to commence this weekend. I will provide feedback on my efforts, and no doubt have other queries in due course. As suggested will contact Martin for required spares.

Cheers to all.
