Dear Forum

I have:

Beosound Essence mk2 with Beolab 8000

Beolink Converter NL/ML

Beolink Passive with a set of BeoVox CX50 with a Beo4 remote

I want to integrate the beolink passive as a part of the multiroom setup and play sound from the Beosound Essence on my Beolink Passive. How to set this up??

How should the setup be?

A Master

AV Master

V Master

A Slave

Source Center

Or are there other setups I need to make? Maybe something about the beo4 commands?

Thank you very much! ☺

Thanks mate - nice, great idea.

But what if I want to connect my Beovision 8 and play the sound from the Beosound Essence though the speakers on the Beovision 8?

Unfortunately does it not work either. When I push radio on my beo4, the television standby indicator goes from red to green and short after goes to standby again.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE

Maybe I should reset the converter? I have bought it second hand, where there was an old setup.

Sources visible on ML

Tv and so on gray and not to choose.

Radio and so on said empty. I have changed it to Beosound Essence MK II and tunein.

But that did not help.

Ir mapping says radio Beosound Essence MK II and tunein.

What to do now?

Yes, it is saved and also I tried to restart. I can upload pictures of the screens on the beosetup, for the converter but also the essense.

In this setup there is no Master. You need an ML powerbox to make the Masterlink work. Or connect your BV8 with an ML cable and put it in V.OPT2.

Then put the ML/NL in Audio Master

Hi Philip, no need for a powerbox if he uses the BLC as an active kit (optional with the BV8 in A.Master), or...?

I am posting my screen shots later - maybe I need a powerbox if I will connect my beolink passive together with my beovision8? In a masterlink junktion box?

But let's first of all stick to the plan of getting the sound in my beovision 8. Screen shots later! :)

I am a bit confused right now. But what I think would be best, is if make a new thread with my complete setup; with a drawing of my setup in all rooms and screen shot of all the menus on the ipad.

I am very glad that you have helped me so far, I convinced me that is it possible to combine my old and good masterlink with network link. :) :)

Note, you must use a fully wired mk2 PowerLink to connect from the BLC to the Passive (and this contradicts some of the B&O documentation).  My dealer originally sold me the wrong cable to connect my Essence to a Passive (because whatever documentation they were looking at said this was correct).  It isn't.

From a part number perspective, P/N 6270017 is not wired to work with a Passive.  The RJ45/DIN cables that work with the passive are 6271125 (5 m) and 6271126 (10 m)... and Sounds Heavenly has some cables like this, too.

I have a mk2 powerlink that worked from my Beosound 3000 to the beolink passive, that have worked.

Also I have a RJ45 to powerlink she - are there any difference at these??

It depends on whether the RJ45 to PL adapter is "fully wired" like the mk2 PL cables.  I don't know the answer to this.  I used an adapter in my original setup but with mk3 PL cables, and it didn't work.  Clearly, the PL cables were wrong, but this doesn't help to know whether the adapter was right.

All I can say is the symptoms of using the wrong cable (or adapter) is that the passive is non-responsive.  The light never turns green.  It stays red (even when you've done everything else correctly).  If you have other B&O speakers, I'd try connecting them to verify whether the BLC is producing a signal.

One more thing, there seems to be some kind of connection sensing the goes on when the BLC reboots.  That is, it may not "see" something that has been connected since the last reboot.  So, again, if you think everything is connected and configured as it should be and it still isn't working, try rebooting the BLC.

Good idea - I can try my active speakers if it does not work.

Can I then use the masterlink access in the BLC to other masterlink products? Do you know that? :)

Yes, this is the main purpose of the BLC, and the ML connection is required (I think).  If you're not connecting it to ML, why not just get another Essence?

Although, I may have confused you a bit... my previous advice about the cables is for driving the passive via PL.
