Hi,

A few days ago I purchased a Beosound 4, everything works ok, CD player, FM radio, but I can't get the DAB radio to autotune?

Over the weekend I have installed a proper outside DAB aerial in my loft pointing to the nearest transmitter, plus on the Beosound 4 unit on the section in the menu where you can see the DAB signal I have all white bars so I am confident I do have DAB signal, (plus my Beocenter 2 picks up DAB stations with no problems)

So am I doing something wrong? or is the unit faulty, I brought the unit second hand, the previous owner (I think) did have it working as there were lots of DAB stations programmed in before I deleted them all.

Is the DAB radio part inside the unit a common fault? or am I just pressing the wrong buttons?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Is your country DAB or DAB+

Or vice versa is your BS4 DAB+ or DAB ?

If both are transmitting maybe the BS4 needs to know about both formats ?

Do you know if there is a station that only transmits DAB ?

Can you tune to its frequency by hand rather than auto-tune?

I am firing questions in the dark as mine is DAB and the country changed to DAB+ and I never paid for the upgrade as I wasn't convinced of the benefit as I can have AM FM and via the Essence internet radios from around the world.

Hi, thanks for your message, I don't think it is anything to do with DAB+, what I've been reading about on the web is a DAB unit will pick up a DAB+ station but just can't play it as DAB+ has a different audio codec.

My Beocenter 2 which has DAB picks up DAB stations no problem, but the Beosound 4 when on autotune doesn't pick up anything, plus no idea how to manually tune in as DAB is different to FM.

I think the DAB module is faulty, I have emailed my nearest dealer to get a repair quote to see if it is viable.

If anyone here has any knowledge on these DAB modules or any further advice please let me know.

Thanks.

I think B&O DAB equipment is exceptionally insensitive to DAB. I tried two different DAB aerials and couldn't pick up a single station on my Bc2 and then used the rather expensive B&O DAB aerial and it worked but still wasn't great. This is rather frustrating as my car which probably has an aerial costing a fraction works perfectly. Try the approved B&O DAB aerial if you haven't tried this already.

.

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.

Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.

Still struggling with this. I can't find an original B&O DAB aerial at all, even my local B&O store told me it's been discontinued.

But I've installed a 3 element external DAB aerial in my loft pointing to the local transmitter, still no signal, nothing.

My Beocenter 2 receives DAB channels even with an old FM ribbon cable??

Very strange, so I think the DAB module is maybe faulty? I've been talking to a B&O engineer and he's known of  only 1 faulty DAB unit!!

So I've had a quote on replacing the DAB unit which is £300 and a diagnosis cost of £120, (not sure if this is separate or together)

If anyone has any further info it's going to go into the repair shop next week.

I've had the same. BC2 DAB aerial would only pick up signals in very specific room locations, and yet a cheap Pure Evoke portable radio with telescopic aerial could get a DAB station anywhere in the home. It's all very odd. My current DAB aerial location is internal, right in the corner of a room. Yet if the aerial is taped to a window in the same room (facing the transmitter) it receives nothing!

The unit has now gone to B&O for repair, so hopefully once back home I'll be able to receive some DAB stations.

I've got an aerial company to install a DAB aerial on the roof by the side of the TV aerial so hopefully there should be no further problems!!

Fingers crossed.

Hi,

I took it to B&O and they replaced the DAB unit and everything works now.

The DAB radio would not tune to any station, even with an external aerial connected.

Cost of repair £310.
