I'm considering to purchase the Danfoss Link and Connect thermostats for my home, and are interested to know if anyone successfully made it work with the BLGW? I know there has been some stability issues (think it was basically from Danfoss side), but are not sure of the status today.

Alternatively if anyone can suggest an alternative to the Danfoss Link / Connect thermostats could also be a possibility.

Cheers,
Ole

Hi Ole,

When I raised this about 2 months ago with Beo support they said that the stability problems were on Danfoss side, so what you have heard is correct. I did ask about plans to support the Honeywell system which is similar but this was not on the cards.

So I'm in the same boat as you, do I commit to the Danfoss solution because work on the development has started but there are issues or wait.

I am looking at Honeywell and the tahoma box.

You can explore this as well, works with Velux and all other io devises. I have my roof windows working and will be adding this system after the extension of my house. I should work with the BLGW, haven”t tested it!

Hello,

B&O got back to my request about external driver for Danfoss and they said that it was just not reliable enough and therefore they are not going to release it, so no support for Danfoss in the BLGW.

Given this information at the weekend I purchased and installed Honeywell Evohome solution. Very easy to install and is an excellent system and the build quality is very good. Still early days and playing with the system but using Domoticz home automation i have it controlled using the Web API. I have scripted via Python a very simple script to interface between the BLGW and the Domoticz JSON interface to control the Evohome system.

Its a very basic control at the moment but only took a day to write and test. Using BLGW I can now turn up or down the heating per room for a period of time. Not very advanced at the moment but better than nothing. Also didnt require an extra hardware to interface.

You don’t have a Tahoma box in the UK or? It should work with a simple box load in some scenes, and pit it in the BLGW.

I stand corected, tahmoma does not work it has no api, sorry. (Velux KLF 200 does)

How can I control the Honeywell system, I see only a security system in the gateway?

Is there any chance in a standard sollution? I am looking at a Evohome sollution with servo motors for floorheating.

Would this work with the BLGW. I use them with just a smart phone. In this month's Stuff Magazine they have been voted top smart Thermostat.

https://www.stuff.tv/tado/review

I have 1 wall Thermostat running the main heating, 1 wall Thermostat for each of my underfloor heated rooms and 4 radiator Thermostats upstairs and all were so easy to install and set up. Tado give you step by step instructions once you send them details of your current setup. You can send them photos of your boiler and current Thermostat and they send specific installation instructions to follow.

Hi,

Tado is a good player. Really do not understand it fits even in apple homekit so B&O should integrate it. How do you control your floor heating, the thermostat i believe but with a motor and how does it communicate. Tado s website doesn’t say?

Hi Chucky,

My underfloor heating is water based. Each room has a Thermostat the communicates by wire to the the valves to open and close them.  I took off the old Thermostat and put a TADO at each one. So before I changed, the Thermostats had to be manually rogrammed to control the valves. Now they run from the TADO app. My system was originally standard Danfoss and installed by a standard plumber 10 years ago before smart systems were used. TADO was a very easy upgrade.

How is your underfloor heating currently controlled?

Although I love wiring, only 1 thermostat in the hall, a Nefit easy. I have hardwood floors so no need to turn down to much as it takes for ever to heat up again. The zones are manually set at a fixed pace but it is proven inefficient so I need a sollution but in the beolink gatewayBig Smile
