Hi everyone
Just received a cd 5500, it does not read any CD's.
So opened the top checked for bad solder (all OK)
Checked 2103 as stated on this forum, already has been changed and there is a recent sticker saying adjusted by bang & olusen and the two piece of tape over the adjustments have been opened to adjust them.
Went through the service procedure and got stuck on 4 blinking, then pressed on play, radial servo moves, press on play again, radial servo does not move.
Checked the flex pcb that goes from pcb 11 to pcb 30 and one print is cut, certainly bad manipulation. May be it is only the problem but who know who touch it ???
Is there a way to get a new one, to fix it just for testing before putting a new one ???
Il est possible de réparer ces nappes, mais il faut de la patience... et être assez méticuleux. Il faut gratter la piste et souder un petit fil assez souple pour ne pas perturber son mouvement. Peut-être récupérer une nappe sur un vieux lecteur CD-ROM et en couper un bout...

Ok merci Jacques je vais tenter cette solution.
Bon ça ne marche pas ça refuse de souder, je pense que demain je vais faire un tour dans le grenier et tenter de trouver une nappe droite de 14 connecteurs en espérant que j'en ai, même plus de connecteur pas grave on coupe dans la longueur.
Just for info in case anyone else runs into the problem
After checking deeper on the circuit diagram the print of the flex that is cut is the negative of the focus motor.
This makes all senses as how the cd reacts.
Let you know if once fixed it was the problem

Normal car les pistes sont encapsulées entre deux couches de mylar ! Il faut en peler une complètement pour arriver au cuivre.
Tu risques d'avoir du mal à en trouver une qui ira.
Au pire il y a eBay : j'ai acheté 10€ un CD3300 pour pièces... Que j'ai finalement réparé !

Hope you speak english jacques, well that will always be my problem, if I buy a cd 5500 on ebay for 10.00 euros (that does not happend anyway) for parts, I will still repair it and still be stuck with my other 5500 cd.
When you like something it is hard to put them in pieces to get parts unless they are really not repairable anymore, I know that some on ebay are specialized in putting B&O in parts as they know they will make more money than selling it not working, but I never buy anything from these guys as their only goal is to make money with old stuff at high prices, mainly they are B&O installer that take back used B&O after replacing to some rich guys a brand new whole house B&O system.
I know 3 B&O installer by now, but they only sell the unit complete, not in pieces......

Trouble is, the copper tracks are secured in relatively thick mylar coating, so you have to peel it off completely to access the copper. Once done, reparing the track is easy enough.
You may also want to have a look at eBay. I bought a defective CD3300 for parts for €10... which I ended up fixing!

I do. Your best bet is probably repairing the bad track. I understand your point of view on fixing precious B&O equipment! But there are old Philips CD players out there that are not so precious... What CDM have you got?
