Just download the ATV3/4 code and use that instead.

Aussie Michael:

You will notice on the menu in a movie it will show PCM 2.0 but as soon as you start playing a movie it says Dolby Digital 5.1

I also mainly use the BR one but trying the touchpad for once - after a year of not using the old one - I kinda liked that feeling - and having Siri.

By the way, on my TV it does not say Dolby Digital 5.1, rather PCM 5.1. The Apple TV decodes the stream in my case and sends the raw audio data over PCM. Are you sure it says Dolby Digital on yours?

Yes as i changed the settings on the ATV to Dolby Digital 5.1 and when i do info on the Avant it says the same

Yup, got mine and running friday night - I'm upgrading from an ATV 3 and it works as expected on my Avant with the Beoremote.

I really like the smooth interface and colors.

One thing I miss is the Radio app (yeah I know) but got some pretty good radio stations on my AT 3, and that app is now gone.

I dont use Apple Music, so how do I get my internet radio back on ATV 4K?

I use Netradio - the standard one with the Avant (not through the ATV) - i really like it

Oops - so obvious that I did not even think of that.

That is what I do on my V1 too.

yes i assumed that was the way it worked, but was interested to see if anyone had experienced the HD to 4K SDR upgrades.

The list of 4K iTunes titles looks relatively short so far  - will be interesting to see how quickly and by how much that list expands, hopefully it does.

As for HDR vs SDR, its fairly consensual that HDR is the big step up, as opposed to HD vs 4K. Certainly the Netflix / Amazon 4K SDR on my Avant looks good, but nothing special compared to HD. In fact, i generally have to look closely to notice a difference.

Physical 4K HDR i have few doubts about, it does look striking (whether its filmic is another subject, and i know some have that preference, but that another subject).

Enjoy the new toy though.

Apple TV 4k works great with my Samsung UHD TV. Infuse stream 4K rips from my NAS flawlessly. Super convenient.

And works really well on the Avant too.  It’s good these devices work with 4K normal and HDR, just like what the OPPO BR player does too.

I had to look up Infuse and I downloaded it

So it’s made by FireCore - i used to use their software on the Gen 1 ATV which “jailbroke” it.

What 4K RIPS are you playing?  How did you rip them?

:-)

For those thinking about the new Apple TV 4K, this is the flaw that many have picked up on...i.e.t the lack of mode switching, which has a real world impact....

from the AV Forums review..

"We tested the Apple TV with a Samsung Q7, an LG B7 and a JVC projector and overall the automatic setup worked correctly but there are some issues relating to the Apple TV's efforts to always deliver the highest possible format. So for example owners of 2016 LG OLEDs will find the output automatically set to 4K HDR 60Hz and if they want Dolby Vision support they will have to manually select 4K Dolby Vision 30/25/24Hz. The automatic selection of 60Hz will also cause problems with certain apps in the UK and, although Netflix looked great, NOW TV and the BBC iPlayer exhibited noticeable judder and dropped frames unless 50Hz was manually selected. The Apple TV does have a large selection for different formats from 4K Dolby Vision 60Hz down to 4K SDR 24Hz, so thankfully there's room to manually change the format to suit your needs.

This is just as well because the Apple TV 4K currently has a massive flaw that Apple need to address immediately. Once the format has been selected, either automatically or manually, the Apple TV then applies it to all content – which means that if you have it set to 4K Dolby Vision 60Hz then everything, regardless of how it was actually graded and mastered, is output in that format. Now we've already mentioned the frame rate, which is more of an issue here in the UK, and in terms of the resolution we have absolutely no problem with the Apple TV upscaling lower resolution content to 4K, which will have to be done at some point and it does this very well. However content graded for standard dynamic range was never intended for and nor should it ever be converted to high dynamic range, whether that's HDR10 or Dolby Vision.

The results of this up conversion of SDR to HDR are simply terrible with over-saturated colours and overblown highlights that destroy the original intention of the content creators. What the Apple TV should be doing is establishing the capabilities of the display and then outputting the best experience subject to the content itself. So HDR10 content should be output as HDR10, Dolby Vision content should be output as Dolby Vision and SDR content should remain as SDR. At the moment to achieve this, you have to manually change the format to match the content each time, which is a real pain. Whilst many consumers (and, we notice, even some reviewers) will be completely unaware of this problem, AV enthusiasts will simply find it unacceptable and Apple needs to address this with a firmware update soon."

One step forward, two steps back...or the other way around, you get the point.....

Could you help with this scenario?

Current situation: Avant 55 with old Apple TV in one room. Beosound 9000 in another room.

Could I re-configure to this:

New Apple TV to Avant 55 (will it fit behind the panel?) and move old Apple TV, plug it into the 9000 for audio streaming? (A AUX)

Appreciate your help.
