I just acquired a handsome pair of M100 speakers however the machine screws, washers, and angle adjusters are a total mismatched Rube Goldberg sort of affair, to the point that I am concerned they won't properly secure these 50 pound speakers.

Does anyone know where I might find connectors for my speakers?

If no one has these parts, would it be possible to have a correct description of the parts so I can go to Home Depot and acquire the CORRECT parts? That would really help.

Thanks Smile

Hi Soren,

I am unable to post pictures here on BeoWorld because after my computer hard drive failed, I lost the Microsoft photo program. It is here somewhere, but I haven't located it yet. Rebuilding a lifetime's work on a computer from scratch has kept me occupied.

I will email you photos, which I can do. Although I still can't photograph missing parts. There are tubular sleeves for the screws and all are missing. This allows the screws to move around. Not sure how important that is. Also the stands require 4 screws and I have 2 different sizes, which shouldn't be.

Thanks as always for the offer of assistance!

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I emailed you pictures last night of the M-100 stands and assembly. Hopefully, the pictures weren't too large to go through. You should be able to get most of the metric bolt hardware you will need to mount the speakers. You will want a sleeve for where the bolt goes through the stand to the back of the speaker. There is one large bolt that tightens the upper part of the stand with the base. Do you have that hardware (bolt, washer and nut)?

Regards,
John

Hi John,

Yes I received all your documents which are VERY helpful. Thank you kind sir!

I am missing all the sleeves, however the large nuts and bolts for the height adjustment are in place on both stands.

I have 4 Allen wrench machine screws, 2 are completely threaded and 2 have a blank space at the head, and they are of 2 different lengths. It would be helpful to know which (if either) screw is correct and its proper length.

I am assuming that the threads are correct, unequal lengths notwithstanding, because the seller used these speakers with their stands. I also assume that the seller (who insisted on us meeting in a public parking lot) came up with the crude angle adjustment piece as well as 2 of the 4 machine screws, with the colorful assortment of washers.

These speakers are spectacular audio-wise, but due to their weight (50 pounds each) I am not willing to risk mounting them on their stands fearing the vibration might cause them to fall resulting in significant damage.

As always, I truly appreciate your help….. and wisdom!

Jeff

Right - pulled mine apart - each stand attaches to the back of the speaker using two M5 machine screws with allen key heads - mine are 40mm long end to end with the thread length 17.6mm. Described as a M5x35 DIN912 in the service manual. The bushes are brass and are just over 12mm long with an external diameter of about 7mm. The washers on mine are a disparate bunch but there are four on each screw .

The screw for the angle adjustment is 56mm in total length with threading all along the length - again M5. Described as AM5x50 DIN 84

The big bolts holding the stand together, I did not take off but are described as M10x30 and matching M10 nut. Did take a picture but relatively pointless as I am sure these pieces are easily obtained. Let me know if you need anything else.

The service manual is on site in the product pages - in the manual Beovox 2.

Thank you Peter, thank you VERY much.

Yes I know about the service manual and already printed it out. I see that the mounting screws require 2 washers (one on each side) each.

Somehow I missed the screw dimensions which you kindly provided. I printed them out too for reference. Many thanks!

The only question I have is "what brass bushes?" Did I miss something? Maybe you are taking about the sleeves (or cylinder tubes) the screws go in. The ones on my M75's are either steel or aluminum, but these sleeves are missing on the M100's.

I would post photos of what I have, but since my computer hard-drive failure, I have not found the software I used to reduce the size of photos, and mine are a little too large for BeoWorld's server.

I think Peter meant to type "bushings".  What you are referring to as the sleeves.

Bushing is correct - They allow the bolts to fit snugly in the stand holes. No risk of the speakers falling over when on the stands - very solid!

Funny, the more I learn, I don't feel any smarter.

I now see what a bushing is, where does it go? I am guessing that it goes for the height adjustment. If correct is it also called a "motrik M10? If not, where is a bushing used?

On the diagram the machine screws that secure the speaker to the stands have a washer, goes through a sleeve, which is in the T-bar, then another washer, and into the speaker back.

If I am still missing something, let me know. Perhaps THEN I might feel a bit more educated.

My main concern, as stated previously, is that the screws I have are not sufficient to secure these heavy speakers.

The incorrect Rube Goldberg angle adjustment is not a real concern as what could happen? The angle being off a bit? But if the retaining screws are not the right thread or long enough, well that concerns me.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

The M5 screws/bolts through the holes in the metal stand and screwed into the back of the M-100 case are sufficient to secure them.  They hang from the T-bar via those two bolts and the other bolt with the rubber bumper attaches to the middle-lower part of the speaker (just under where the T-bar is) with the bumper resting against the stand.

The bushing, or sleeve as you called it, protect the mounting bolts through the holes in the T-bar. The large bolt and nut that clamp the upper and lower stand pieces together is very sturdy as well. If you are worried about the integrity of the stand you could always make a dummy speaker box, weight it down to be 50 lbs and test out the stands that way.

Hi John,

I found a metal screw shop in Victoria that had "no time to talk" but assured me, "Bring in your screw and we'll match it. That remains to be seen, but I am hoping.

From Peter's exacting description I find I have 2 screws that are correct. Also I already knew I had 1 angle adjuster that was original.

So if I get the correct screws and washers, I will mount the M100's to their stands. They will look so much more "impressive" off the tables.

Thanks, as always for your timely assistance.

Hi Jeff,

That is good to hear.  The angle adjuster is just a bolt with the head inset into a rubber stopper.  The hardware shop should have the bolt but you may have to improvise on the a rubber bumper to rest against the stand post. That should be pretty easy to fabricate. While at the hardware shop you can see what kind of sleeves they have available. it doesn't have to be brass of course.  It could even be a nylon bushing.

Regards,
John
