Hi,

I have lost my sennheiser earbuds together with the 3.5mm jack to lightning adapter for my iphone last week, so I'm in need of a new pair of gym earphones, preferably wireless ones.

I was looking at the H5, but these don't really get much love here on the forum, especially because of the cable noise and the poor battery life. Most reviews online however, are giving the H5 pretty good comments.

I could wait another month for the E8's to arrive, but they even have worse battery life than the H5. Any advice from you guys? Are there good sounding and looking alternatives?

Thanks!

I have the H7, H8, H4, H3 and the old 3i's. I also own the H5.

I'm pretty happy with the H5. They sit in my ears well and hold strongly enough to go for a light run without them falling out. Sure, there's some noise from the back of the cable, but it usually doesn't disturb too much. Battery life is relatively decent. The H5 reviews online are relatively mixed, if you ask me.

The E8's look good, but remember they are even more likely to fall out in my opinion. Will be really easy to lose a single bud, I think. Also, I think I'm right in saying the E8's aren't a B&O product. They are licensed from another manufacturer.

I use the H5 for running only, and H6 for indoor use and the H8 for outdoor use.

I find the cable to be a real issue when wearing them for anything other than running as they fall out of my ears, but B&O are now selling some rubber fins that I will get and hopefully they will sort out this issue.

I'm not troubled at all by the noise from the back of the cable. Nor the battery life.

When running I have to run the cable over my ears and use sunglasses to keep them from moving. I must admit that the majority of my runs now are with the Apple wireless buds, as they connect to my Apple running watch without any hassle- sure, they do lack bass which is big issue for me (the rhythm keeps me going, no bass = no speed) but the Apple buds being totally wireless just makes them so pleasant to wear.

Today, I would have gone for the E8's as they are wireless. But the rubber fins for the H5 may be worth trying before you decide. When using the Apple wireless buds and then popping in the H5 you truly notice how good they sound. The H5 sound great.

I haven't seen these fins, are they on the site?

For now I'm using the standard (wired) Apple EarPods that came with the iPhone 7, but god they are worth nothing. They let all the ambient sound in and feel like they are about to fall out any time. (Surprisingly they don't.) It's really annoying that I hear both my own music and the music they play in the gym at the same time. When everything is quiet, they sound okay, but I'm not using them in such conditions.

I don't know if the AirPods sound similar, they do seem to have the same design as the EarPods, so I wonder if these keep ambient sound out at all? (Or maybe I'm using them in the wrong way, but they don't seem to insulate at all (while any of the earphones with silicone tips I ever used did keep other sounds out).

Anyway, As my current EarPods aren't a real solution for me, I decided to order the H5's (in moss green). If I don't like them, I can still return them within the next 30 days.

Thanks for your input!

Agree, the Apple AirPods do not block enough noise - even when running alone in the woods, the noise from wind etc and the leakage of sound (bass) result in a poor listening experience.

The fins will ship with H5. Just checked, any they will not ship until next week (w39). You can buy them from the same time at both beoplay.com and B1's, set consist of 3 sizes - all in black.

Haha,

So mine are still the ones without fins. I've just received them this afternoon and have been playing a bit. No gym sessions yet...

Finding the right tips makes all the difference in sound quality. I like the crispness of it. The cable does make quite a bit of noise, but I try not to be bothered by it. They are a bit larger than my previous earphones, and I have the feeling they won't be as comfortable wearing them for longer periods of time.

The app is nice and wanted to update the firmware right away.

It does annoy me that the headset does not remember ToneTouch presets after being switched off. Is this normal behavior? I have to open the app and select the desired preset whenever I use them. As soon as the earphones touch each other, they forget the setting :-(.

Will try them in the gym tomorrow!
