are these speakers still selling well
No, sold my display models a while ago. BeoLab 50 selling as well as Lab 5s did for me...
SHEFFIELD: BeoLab 50 selling as well as Lab 5s did for me...
BeoLab 50 selling as well as Lab 5s did for me...
Is that a cryptic message? I don't know many dealers who sold more than 3 pairs of BeoLab 5 a year..
I think it all depends on age, the older ones seem to move quicker than the younger ones, simply because they are cheaper
Just look on sites like ebay, in the UK there are 2 pairs for sale, both are nearly new at £12-14K each.
I am in the market for an older pair in my budget..........hopefully soon a suitable pair will come up for sale.
Paul.

No, honest as always. I would say we sold on average 3-4 pairs of Lab 5s per year, and sold 3 pairs of 50s so far, which is what I targeted myself with before Christmas - so ahead of the game. I'm under no illusions on the numbers of high-end speakers we can expect to sell - if it plateaus out at 3-4 pairs a year after year one I'll be happy with that...🙂

Well, if I could, I would buy another pair of BL 50 from Sheffield. I am one of those 3 sales and Sheffield is just a terrific dealership to work with.
On the topic now, BL 5 is still as great speakers as they ever were. I am keeping mine for sure as I find it hard to part with them. I will not be surprised if many other who move to BL 50 still end up keeping their BL 5 as well.
mbdj: are these speakers still selling well
What matters is do YOU like what the BL5s do for YOUR listening pleasure. If you do indeed like what they do, then go for it. I had them for a decade and they were a massive step forward in loudspeaker technology compared to the audiophool bling nonsense out there. I was mightily impressed and they still sound better than most of the gear out there even 15 years later. I know that dealers have been getting rid of their demo BL5s for about £7500 near where i live so you could keep this figure in mind.
.
Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.
Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.
What was the year of manufacture of the demo speakers at £7500 are the still for sale?
I dont know the year of manufacture - the dealer mentioned it to me in passing when i was talking about something else when i visited him 3 months ago. The dealer was B&O Watford. Not sure if they still have an extra apair left. I'd advsie you to ring round all the dealers in the UK to get the year of manufacture and their best prices and then haggle (obvioulsy being reasonable at the same time). Very best of luck!
