Hi everyone , when I bought up my RX2 (mentioned in another thread) i also picked up a beautiful 1202.
Was not able to test it and bougt it "as is" but the dustcover is barely scratch, the wood is in pristine condition and it has no stains/marks on the aluminium. I also managed to get a brand new SP14/SP14A stylus and a new belt cause I guessed these would have to be changed on a 40 year old turntable.
At home I looked at the belt and it was fairly poor, when i pluged it in and turned it to Play and pushed the button nothing happend, no sound from a motor, no motion from the belt, nothing at all. Total silence! The only thing that indicated som kind of life was the small yellow/orange lamp.
Is it the motor dead/burnt or can it be something more serious? Its a beautiful player can it be saved ?
Anyone who knows someone in Sweden that can check it out and maybe fix it?

Can the motor be rotated by hand?Make sure, that the motors spindle is rotating in the bearings, not the bearings rotating within their holders.It must run completely free and spin for a few seconds if "finger-accellerated" to be working correctly.

I guess i have to open the whole thing up to get to the motor....? Or can this be done by just removing the turntableplate?
Read somewere that it's a pretty easy job to open a 1202, just unskrew the 4 bolts under the player.....😁 Do i have to remove arm/pickup to do this?
Will try to download a sevicemanual and google for vids how this is done.
Just lift the platter...

Guess the spindle from the motor is the brass colored thing that can connect to the idler wheel under the drive wheel...?
If so, the brass colored thing it is very very hard to turn by hand.
# Does this mean that I have to take the engine/shafts/bearings apart for cleaning?
# Can it be some burnt fuse (are there any fuses in a 1202...?)
# Is it correct that the lamp on the frontplate beside Beogram 1202 text only should light yellowish?

If the brass pulley is hard to rotate by hand then yes you will have to take the motor apart and clean the sintered bronze bearings then ideally use a vacuum pump to refill them with fresh oil.
Another method is to boil the bearings into fresh oil but this will be less durable.

When I opend the 1202 there was a sticker inside with the the production date: aug 1st, 1972 cool! And an envelope atached to the plastic bottom with some elecric wiring scheme.
Removed the motor, took it apart, cleand and oiled the bearings/shaft so now the motor spins and works once again, smooth and silent.
I also changed to a fresh new belt, when I started the 1202 there where some noise so something needs adjustment, what can it be...?
Noticed that the pulleywheel for the belt has 2 small holes, but there was only a screw in one of them, is this correct or has one screw gone missing over the years?

Got the belt from a guy in Denmark on ebay, dillen_de, sent it very quick and we had a good comunication.
Check that the motor suspension is free.The three metal "forks" mustn't touch the nylon bushings, it should float free in between them.Make sure to check this with the deck in normal operation orientation (upside up etc.).
