Hi All
I have a client who purchased a BeoVision 11 a while ago. She has photos on her laptop that she would that she would like to view on the TV.
They are both on the same network and when the laptop is turned on, you can see it in the Home media section of the TV but not the photos. The laptop is running Windows 7. I suspect it may be a network sharing permission thing but I'm not that clued up on Windows 7. Can anybody offer any suggestions?

Get an Apple TV, and never ever use any of the "smart" functions of your BeoVision again. Provided the laptop is an Apple laptop?

if the media (pictures etc) are shared via DLNA, they can be viewed in the HomeMedia section of the BV11.
Note: the tv must have the renderer function turned on/network settings.

However, for the Web Media section you are certainly right.

Yes, sorry, stupid me.
However, if the "home media" is only photos, I'd recommend to upload them to SOME cloud storage provider anyway (so that they are always backed up to one more location, and accessible from anywhere), and then you only need to select a cloud storage provider that has an AppleTV app. I use iCloud Photo library, but I am sure there are many more.
There are still those, who store pictures on a USB stick - maybe just for taking them temporary to friends/family.
The Home Media section of the 11 does the job well with these.
On my cell phone I use the app AllCast to view my photos on my Beovision 11 via the wifi....works perfectly. I don't know if that is available for a laptop...maybe there is something similar.
I use the Picasa app. All my Google Photo's are show including albums.
