I am looking for a speaker for my bedroom and am interested in either the BeoPlay A6 or BeoSound 2. Has anyone compared the two? I listen rather loudly and wondering if they both get just as loud. On paper, the A6 seems to have much more power.
Thanks in advance.

Power isn't everything. I have an A9, A6, BeoSound 1 (the new one), BeoLit 15 and various B&O speakers. I'm most disappointed with the A6. The A9 is incredible. Blows everything away, but has a clarity about the audio, too. For me, the A6 sounds very mid-range.
I do wish, in hindsight, I'd bought a BeoSound 2 instead of the 1 - having heard it, it's far more powerful, but it has a balanced sound (unlike the A6). Plus it looks amazing. The A6 looks a bit boring face on for me (it's on a shelf in the kitchen).
I'm likely to sell my A6, I think.
Do you mean A9 as in the thread subject line or A6 as in your detailed question? They are very different beasts.
I would say either a BeoPlay A9 or A6 with a Kvadrat cover for a bedroom. The Kvadrat cover gives a sense of warmth and calm. The aluminum of the BeoSound 2 just looks far to clinical and cold for a bedroom. I myself have an A6 in my bedroom. However, this is getting replaced in a few days with a Moment connected to my speakers for the BeoVision 10.
BTW, if anyone hears of a company making bespoke Kvadrat covers for a BeoLab 6000 or 8000, I'd love to know!

Would be interested in this as well as my 8000 are looking a bit tired now!
The A9 is great if you want to fill a large room with heavy bass, but for bedroom I personally think the BeoSound 2 is a better option. That said, I would have a Bsnd 2 over A9 every time - the best selling speaker in my store by a long way - and cheaper than A9 too...

I have my A6 sitting on a shelf in the bedroom. My wife and I usually don't even notice it... agree it is a bit boring. Also, I think the hand son controls for the A6 aren't as intuitive as those for the Beosound 2 / 1, I absolutely HATE slider volume controls! LOL But the price is right for what you're getting. Plastic + cloth versus aluminum and a distinctive look for the BeoSounds. All that being said when we do listen to music, our placement of the A6 is more than adequate for the bedroom, the bass is nice and heavy without being overpowering, although I'd like the mids to be a bit clearer, I think the A6 is a good bargain in the BeoPlay range, in terms of functionality and performance.

I keep thinking I'll buy a new cover....then realise they are about £100 and don't bother. It's just a bit of fabric.
The worst thing about the A6 for me is, for some unfathomable reason, it often disappears from my network! I can be streaming something to it and it stops and disappears completely. The A9 never does this.
I actually have an A9 in my kitchen and I do love it. My bedroom is smaller so that's why I'm thinking either A6 or BS2. I do not have a Bang & Olufsen store in my area so wondered if the BS2 gets just as loud (without distortion) as the A6.

I actually bought moss and rose covers for my BeoPlay A6 and BeoPlay M5 units if I ever wanted the option to change them. However, I never put them on. I just still like the light grey and charcoal better. I would love to have that light grey wool for my other speakers as well.

I only have a Beosound 2 so I cannot compare but what I can tell is that it can get very very loud... that loud that I cannot stand it...
Yes, the BS2 is a better speaker than the A6 - they look quite different though, so thats personal in the end.
I have the BS2 and am extremely happy with it - its in my office / study, not my bedroom, where i have an A9.
The BS2 is not really as good as the A9, close-ish but definitely not as good. (an A9 may well be overkill for a bedroom, but it works for me there)
I tested out the A6 for my kitchen recently, as i'd like to wall mount something - as others have pointed out, its not bad value for money actually. I thought it sounded different, but similarly as as good as the BS 35 which is much much more expensive, hence my value observation.
The BS2 will sound better than the A6 - whether the look fits, only you can tell i guess.
The A9 is a great stereo system. I couldn’t be more happier with mine.
I guess also depends where you’ll put it as well as how big your bedroom is. I’ve got BS2 and M5 dotted in the bedroom as it’s more comforting from a looks point of view, also the bedroom is fairly small. Otherwise I’d have gone A9

I've owned just about every B&O/BeoPlay speaker combo and it's up there. There's something about a mature A9 that sounds so perfect.

Yup.
It’s their best speaker i reckon. So clear, so warm and goes hard (and goes home) :-)
