Hi Everyone,

I just purchased my first vintage B&O, the Beomaster 900M. I am waiting for it to arrive and in the meantime I was wondering is there an easy way to tell if it has a stereo decoder installed? Possibly without looking inside?

I would greatly appreciate some help!

Thanks,

Peter

Most Beomaster 900s that had the decoder installed also had the "DECODER" label placed on the backside.
But it could have fallen off - or the decoder could've been removed later...

The stereo decoder is present and working if you see the green "STEREO" indicator light up when you tune to a fairly good and strong FM station.
If the lamp has burned, you will have to listen for a sonical (spacial) difference when pressing the MONO switch.
