This is a question for oldtimers, I have a set of penta 1's attached to my 5500 system, and just bought a pair of pents II. My pentas have a speakerlink cable and I don't know where to find another set, but the Penta II's came with the din cables. The question is: Can the pentas,,either set, work with the new cables, or can I use either set with a Beomaster 9000 system, and where can I buy a set of speakerlink cables? Sorry for all the questions!
The penta II have both speakerlink and powerlink connection. The cable that you got with them (the 8 pin DIN) are powerlink cables. The Penta I can only work with speakerlink cable, unless you have a rare adapter cable. The Penta II can work with modern powerlink connection but for the screen to work you need to have the thick MK2 powerlink cables. If you mean the Beocenter 9000 (not the Beomaster 9000), I see in the manual that it has 4 speakerlink connections, so if you have two additional speakerlink cables you would be able to connect all 4 of the Pentas to it. Steve at Sounds Heavenly sells speakerlink cables. Follow this link or click on the banner below on this page, as he is a sponsor of Beoworld.
Beosound 5 Encore + Beosystem 5500 + S45.2; BV7-40 MKV + BL7.1 + BL14.4+ AppleTV4; various link rooms with MCL2 A or MCL2 A/V + RL60.2 / CX100 / CX50 & Cona / IWS2000; BG4000; Beosystem 1200 + BV1600.
Here is a view of the speaker connections, similar to the Beomaster 5500
Thanks so much for the reply! I have a Beomaster 5500 system in my home, also a Beomaster 5000, and a Beomaster 9000 in the master bedroom. None of my receivers have powerlink connectors, so I just arranged to buy a Beomaster 6500. My remotes should work with that. I have 1000, Beo4, and 7000 remotes. I could buy speakerlink cables, but maybe will just use the new (old) receiver to power them. I apprieciate the quick response.
Thanks for the quick reply! I'm going to look for more speakerlink cables, and in the meantime, just purchased a used Beomaster 6500. This should be compatible with all my remotes and can use the powerlink cables.
And now, I just bought a 7000 system with the 7000 remote. No turntable, but all the other components. Now I own a complete 5000 system with cd changer, complete 5500 system, and 7000 system, not to mention the beomaster 9000 with cd changer in the master bedroom. I'm ready for the insane asylum. I just remember being blown away by them in the late '80's. I realize that any one of those systems could run the whole house, but I am enamored of B&O. (not to mention, Penta 1's, Penta 2's, rl 140's, rl 60's, 80.2's. When I die, it will all probably go for pennies due to the fact that no body knows anything about this company in my small Indiana town.
