Dear friends greetings from Greece.
I own a perfectly working second-hand BeoSound 9000 with BeoSound 8000 loudspeakers for about a year.
Recently, I purchased a Beo4 from Catawiki. Unfortunately, it does not work with my system. I checked Beo4 IR "eye" with my smartphone and it blinks. Furthermore, there is a very large plasma TV in close proximity that is now switched off.
However, there is no improvement.
I am very disappointed and I am asking for your help.

It's good that the Beo4 does in fact transmit. Did you try my other suggestion about checking the A.OPT setting?
There is another possibility, that the Beo4 is set up to be a LINK remote. Try this on the Beo4:
Standby + List together
Press List till CONFIG appears
Enter 2002 , the display may read LINK ON, or maybe LNK OFF.
Press Exit
Repeat the process to make sure the Beo4 display reads LNK OFF.

it was at LINK OFF mode, I switched to LINK ON and again to LINK OFF, to make sure it can be done.
Nothing happens...
Hmmm. I have just been looking at the Service Manual on line - avail to paying forum members.
It seems that the BS9000 should automatically change to A.OPT 1 when Powerlink is connected (to your speakers)
Try:
- Unplug the BeoLab speakers from the connection panel on the BS9000
- Power it on and then off again.
- Reconnect the speakers and try again.
Otherwise, re-try that Option setting process that I described in the other thread, but substitute '1' for '2' at the last stage. i.e:
With the BS9000 powered up but not switched on, press the Power off (red) button and LIST together on your Beo4. The remote will display ADD?, whereupon you press LIST until OPTION? is displayed. Press GO and the display changes to V.OPT. Press LIST to display A.OPT. Press '1' and the power LED on your BS9000 should flash to acknowledge, and hopefully the remote should now work.

Sorry but I have run out of ideas - hopefully someone else will see this thread and come up with some other suggestions.
Otherwise, do you know anyone who could lend you a remote, or could you test your remote with someone else's system? A visit to a technician may otherwise be required.
(There is no difference between the two PL ports)
Unfortunately there are no friends with B&O systems, they are still very expensive systems in Greece. The problem is that even the B&O official representatives in Athens (capital city of Greece), do not further support service for BS9000 MKI, so I cannot have any official help.
Do you think it might be a problem of IR receiver of BS9000? Is there any chance to confirm it or evaluate it?

So, did BS9000 led flash while you were executing option setting as Guy wrote?
How did you control your BS9000 before you bought the Beo4? And did everything work properly?
Are you using original Powerlink cable?
Did you try to clean the BS9000 near the IR receiver?

the BS9000 led did not flash in any case, unfortunately. I controlled my BS9000 manually, using its control panel; everything was perfect.
Powerlink cables for BeoSound 8000 cables are the ones in the original package.
Regarding the BS9000 IR receiver, I have not tried to clean it (it is located next to stand by button, isn't it?), but it looks clean.

If the BS9000 did not even react to option setting commands and the receiver is clean, the ir receiver might be faulty. But first I would check the Beo4 with another Beosystem. Maybe there is a Beoworlder in Greece who will test it for you? You could send it to me, but it`s a bit far I`m afraid... Another option can be to buy a (very cheap) BL1000 and test your BS9000. If the IR receiver is faulty and it can not be repaired there might be a workaround with a Beolink active.
You can connect a BL active with ir receiver via Masterlink to your BS and connect the BL8000s to the BL active. Now you can control the BS9000 with a Beoremote through the BL active.

Vous pouvez également tester le faisceau infrarouge de votre Beo4 avec l'appareil photo d'un smartphone pour voir si la Beo4 fonctionne.
Vous mettez l'appareil photo devant la Beo4 comme pour la photographier et vous appuyez sur les boutons de la Beo4 et si elle fonctionne vous verrez les diodes émettrices de la Beo4 qui vont s'allumer.
De ce fait vous pourrez être sûr que votre télécommande fonctionne ou pas.

just a thought: do all types of PL cables switch the BS9000 mkI to option 1? if not than maybe using other cables would do the trick
Yes. Powerlink detection for A.OPT 1 is done by PIN 4 - available in all Powerlink cables. Btw had Thanos tried to set audio option to 1 manually, and the led didn`t respond.

I am scared opening and trying to fix IR receiver by myself.
I prefer trying a BL1000 or another Beo4 instead or at least initially...
For fixing or replacing the ir-receiver (they are still available if you're not capable of soldering), you need to take off the glassdoor, topcover and some screws on the bottom. Then you need to lift the aluminum plate to get acces to 2 screws from the ir-pcb.
Tricky part will be sledge, small flatcables, springs, etc.
