Well, I don't really know what to think of my thoughts?

I have a Beosystem 7000 with mmc2 playing through Beolab 5's. But I have an incline to getting a Beogram 4000 (even if I have to rebuild it) for the promise of that wonderful sound of the 70's? I think .I am mad beyond but what do you think? Most importantly, would there actually be any sound improvement?

The Beogram 4000 is a wondrous device

BUT

1. Very complicated and needs someone sympathetic to make sure it is working well.

2. The record support is actually not very good - the 8002 is better . the bass on the 4000 is certainly not as extended as that on my 3000 Thorens.

3. Cartridge selection is key - you need a 20CL or a MMC6000 to get the best. And these are old, expensive and rare in good condition.

However

I used a BG4000 in preference to a 7000 system for years - still have it though the 7000 system is long gone! I don't have Beolab 5s though!
