Did you test that with another server also - to see, if it is the app that builts the index, or if that comes from the (Twonky) server?
N.B. I am not able to test it myself - the Sesam app seems to be only available in the french (iOS) app store.

Dear Beroli
Thanks for your feedback. Tomorrow we release a version where the lists are sorted alphabetically by artist. You can also pull down and use the free text filtering? You are on the beta right?
Br
Thomas
Pardon me, Mr Andersen,
is that then a beta release....or should we all be looking for a new version?
Dear Thomas,
thank you for the fast reply. I just updated just a hour ago, after I got the message, that a new update is available today. I am now on 1.4.0.11201. Will there be a newer version tomorrow? Maybe its a glitch in the Test-flight message-system or I don‘t find the free-text option you mentioned before.
Thank you again
Beroli

Found hat you meant with the free text filter, but the artists are not in order yet. Looking forward to the upcomming version with the said order by artist. This will be a huge improvement for me.

Sem here - working for me too.

I tested against Synology and native QNAP DLNA service. Sesam does the indexing for both (note: my Synology collection is for test purpose only, so very short, the QNAP one is identical to my Twonky one)

Thanks for testing!
Maybe I should give that app a try - even if it will be difficult to get hold on it....nowhere to find but in the french store, apparently.
On the other hand, maybe that could be an inspiration for the (Bang & Olufsen) app team, because it is there, that I/we need it - not in a seperate app.
The same goes for the Media Center section on the tv’s - we need some kind of alphabetic search there also.

Hi mbolo01,
as I wrote, I meant the order of the artists in the „Album Favorites“. The „favorite Artist“ - folder (your screenshot) is showing only the artists you liked in Deezer in general. But if you liked a album only, you won‘t find it in Artists, you need to browse like crazy through all favorite albums - and since there is just a album-title-order it is annoying. I liked the order in the old BeoMusic-App. All favorite albums were sorted by artists. A other order makes no sense in my opinion.
An example. I usually browse through the liked Albums and decide then, what I want to listen to.
Currently I see the „Let it be Album“ under „L“ and think, Beatles would be a good choice, but I decide to listen to a other album from them. Oh, there is a album called "1 (Remastered)". Lets scroll like hell back to the Top to special characters and I will find it under „1“. Yes, I could choose the free text search, but even for that, I need to scroll back to the top. Maybe I am old fashioned. The current order is bad - nobody would order his vinyls or his business like that. Oh, thats an offer, lets put it under O, thats an sale, lets put it under S, thats an RFP, lets put it under R ..., hope you know what I meant. That would be ridiculous - wouldn‘t be?
Cheers Beroli

mbolo01:In summary you would like the favorites albums grouped by artists which would be sorted alphabetically, correct ?
Beroli:like we had it in the BeoMusicApp.
mbolo01: Unfortunately I think that the new app is a « basic » DLNA controller that deserves enhancement v.s the legacy app that was integrated to the Moment logic bringing peculiarities like the artist grouping, but also caveats like track availability dependent on Moment harvesting BS Moment...

I think it is neither a DLNA controller issue nor has nothing to do with the BS-Moment. As you can see, that screenshot was taken with the BS-Essence active not the BS-Moment. It is just a issue how the order is programmed. Now it‘s Album/Artist instead of Artist/Album. If I look at the Deezer-App, which has nothing to do with the BS-Moment, the order of "Favorite (Deezer) Albums" is exactly the same, as it was with the „old“ BeoMusicApp.
Hi all
Next version will bring alphabetical sorting on artist for albums and tracks. Secondary sorting on album titles. From the filtering you can search on artist, album or track, depending on the list. So writing the artist name in a track list will give you tracks by that artist. The next version will give you the option to change the sort order, still working the choices but date added will be there.
Unfortunately Dlna will not benefit, it is served paged and cannot be sorted on the phone.
New version will roll out next week.

Hi there Thomas
Maybe i am being a bit dumb, but how did the old BeoMusic app manage to provide DLNA search?
Was it done by, for example, my Moment? (and therefore showing in the App)
If search cant be done on the phone, does that mean we shouldn't expect to get DLNA search in the app in the future?
Thanks
SB

Beroli:I think it is neither a DLNA controller issue nor has nothing to do with the BS-Moment.
mbolo01:The new app behaves like any DLNA controller by browsing what the DLNA server exposes, not more, like my old Sony TV does and less evolved than some freeware like Sesam Music app I introduced earlier in this post. It does not store anything to be processed later on like for indexing. Searching, grouping The former app is leveraging what has been processed by the B&O device, being a Moment or an Essence which are exposing their collection differently and only understandable by B&O app This is my view and Thomas answer is a confirmation that no post processing is in the pipe for DLNA and I anticipate no integration with « legacy » products such as the Moment or the Essence BS Moment, BL 18, BL 19, A6, M5, A1, H5
Beroli:Maybe we are meaning the same.
Much much better than Sesam:

As you can see in the thread the Glider app is not new to me.
However, I could not get that working at that time....
....and I still can’t (just tried again).
It sees my servers, but does not show the content.
yes, i understood the Deezer Album favourites sorting issue.
i hadn't quiet appreciated that DLNA search would not come to the app. I get the issue, i.e. that functionality cant be done on the phone, and is dependant on the DLNA server.
Saying that though, i still dont understand why could the old Beo Music app do it/ (search)
Hi Sandyb,
the old App was able to use the database, which was created during the processing with the BS-Moment. On the BeoMusicApp, you have only the possibility to search DLNA-content, within the BS-Moment tab - not within the BS-Essence-tab.
As far as I understood Thomas, the new App does not have the ability to read and search the compiled DLNA-database-file provided from the BS-Moment. Since the BS-Moment is now EOL and the new Devices aren't creating such databases, it seems there is no need anymore to put more effort or manpower on the task to write such API. In the first BS-Moment days, the 1-capital-search was the most criticized feature. Therefore B&O needed to implement the feature into the BeoMusic-App. Nowadays, the search function on the BS-Moment Jukebox is working perfect/seamless over DLNA and Deezer-content. Maybe another reason to scratch this feature (my assumption regarding the POV with B&O).
The new App is just reading the provided pages of the several DLNA-Servers. Some DLNA-server offer a bigger variety of these pages, when it comes to different categories (Playlists, Album, Album by artist, Date, recently added...) - some of them don‘t. Some DLNA-Server (e.g. minimServer) create their own searchable database - some (pure Synology-NAS) don't. A searchable database is not in the common DLNA-protocol. Because of this and because the different TAG-quality of the DLNA-content, it is difficult to program a all-over-DLNA-content-search API fitting for every available DLNA-Server. In Addition, just imagine a customer with files like track01.mp3 -no Tags implemented - there is no way to process these files without processing the fingerprint in the file itself. On the BS-Moment it takes hours to create a searchable database because of this task. It summary, it would be to much within a App, which is just focused on “read-only“-the-pages from the choosen DLNA-Server.
A implementation of a DLNA-search is possible only with Servers, which are providing their own database including a search-option - but then some customers would complain, maybe because their own Server does not provide such database.
In the App 8player it is possible to do a all-over-search in your DLNA-content. It is very fast - but only if connected to Servers, which are providing said database. Searching a track, album or Artist on MinimServer works perfect, while the Twonky-Server is crashing everytime, if I try the search-funktion within the App.
Maybe these are the reasons, why B&O decided to push back on the search-option. Maybe I have it all wrong. ;-)
Thanks for the background, thats informative and makes sense.
There is still obviously an element of choice, by B&O, in not providing that same ability(in the new app) to read / search the DLNA database file - i understand that now to an extent.
And while others may have realised this, it is clear then that the new app will not provide a full-ish solution for music - with DLNA support missing, and playlist management. Both need to be done externally to the app.
So while the app has a more modern look, and i appreciate the communication from the team here, what have we achieved beyond folding everything (?) into one app?, and losing some functionality along the way.
We still dont have source control at a basic level - the old BeoRemote app was useful in that respect.
I wonder if that functionality from the BeoRemote app will be introduced into the new app.
Beroli:the App is not stable enough.
Millemissen:As you can see in the thread the Glider app is not new to me

I'm the author of Glider, and I'm hoping I can add a bit of context to the conversation here.
The DLNA spec allows for media servers to optionally implement a search feature with varying levels of support for different tags (artists, albums, etc.) Many popular media servers do not implement this feature at all, including Synology and Plex. Even when implemented, searching is usually slow since the queries are sent to the server in real-time, and results will be limited to a particular media server.
Glider gets around these limitations by performing a complex sync operation across all of your connected media servers (even if they don't support search) to create a single library that's fully searchable directly in the app. We also allow you to sync non-DLNA sources including your local iTunes library. This sync process is well outside of the DLNA spec, and sometimes we run into issues with certain media servers that don't behave the way we expect.
If you're having any issues at all with the app, please get in touch with us at support@glideraudio.com so we can work with you to get them fixed.
