Hi! I recently acquired a BeoSystem 5500 and am having trouble with the Beogram turntable and the tone arms not moving along the tracking. I've opened her up and everything is in place as it should be (according to manual diagrams and pictures from the internet) except the white string inside has come loose. It is not attached at either end. Obviously I have assumed this is the problem but after scouring the internet I have found no pictures or threads or posts or anything to help me figure out how to reroute the string.

Could someone please help me? I greatly appreciate it!

Greetings,

try the download of the BG5500 service manual on the Beoworld site and you should find the drawing and description of how to route the carriage string.

it is fairly straight forward but make sure that little knot in your string sits exactly where it should or your arm will not get into the correct resting position.

that all is if there are no broken anker points where the string is attached.,

good luck

OH unless it’s the part about mounting the wire drive?

Typically the problem is that the mounting point "H" - which is a small plastic tab - has broken off.

Don't bother trying to glue it back on (even if you find the tiny bit). It can be replaced with for example a small nut & bolt through the plastic carrier. There are a number of threads on this somewhere on the forum, but searching for them may take some effort.

Hi tournedos

Normal 0 21 false false false DA X-NONE X-NONE

Do you know where to find a solution to the problem you address.

I just bought me a dysfunctional Beogram 5500 turntable and found that the Holder (H) on the carrier has broken of.

You mention it can be fixed, but how?

hi

Did you find a solution to your problem.

I stand in a situation that seems to be the same. I found that my Beogram 5500 is missing the Holding point (H) in the service manual. It has broken off.

Did anyone send you suggestions how to fix it?

best regards

I am looking for part B in this diagram, the black plastic eccentric.

The threads on mine have broken off. I either need a new part, or a hack to make it work again.

Many thanks!!

Hi,

carefully drill a hole and insert a suitable screw and secure with two nuts, one from underneath that H point and one on the top.

all it does is holding a spring.

good luck - I had the same problem !

The excentric is used for adjusting the needle set-down point.
Josh, thanks for your email. I will take a look in the dungeons.

Threads? ... You are aware that this is not a screw, right?
It's not supposed to be tightened or losened - merely rotated to adjust the carriage position in relation to the wire.

I fixed that part of my BG5500 with plastic parts of a ballpoint pen. I will try to get some pictures up.

It's worth mentioning that adjusting the knot position is done by moving the tonearm table.
