Hi everyone,

Trying to work out if I’ve got bad luck or others are experiencing the same issues I am.

Picked up a brand new pair of E8 from my dealer that received their first delivery today. After charging them fully I took them for a spin. Noticed immediately the left hand bud would intermittently dip audio for half a second every 30sec or so.

took them for a walk and had continuous, sustained drop outs in both ears every few seconds, then fine for maybe 30sec, then more drop outs.

if anyone lived through the H8 launch in 2015, this feels very, very similar. I’m heartbroken as I really wanted the convenience of wireless buds, but the connectivity is atrocious.

using them with an iPhone 7 and an iPad Pro 10.5” left ear bud drop out in both, full dropping on the 7 only, especially when walking with the phone in my pocket.

have attempted re-pairing and software updates, no success.

Disappointment! I was actually this morning thinking of ordering a pair.

Maybe one should wait.

That's not good. I was looking to pull the trigger on the E8's when they are officially launched (tomorrow, I think?). As they aren't a native B&O product, I thought the chances of them working more efficiently, would be higher.

I'm guessing it's yet another software issue. I'll hold off purchasing.

The H5's have had mixed reviews (on here, too), but I've found my H5's to be superb. You do get a bit of annoying cable noise, but once your music is playing you don't hear this.

Bah! Really hope this is a faulty pair or a software glitch of some kind. I had some H5s and I loved how they sounded - but they were uncomfortable to wear and I had issues with dropouts. They had to go back.

I’m using AirPods and BeatsX at the moment - both comfortable with perfect connectivity, but they obviously don’t sound anywhere near as good as the H5s. I was really hoping the E8s would tick every box.

You should take them back, sounds like a faulty unit - I got a pair today from my local dealer and neither the demo pair nor the ones I bought have this problem (used them with my iPhone 7 Plus)

For what it's worth, I saw this post before buying so I also asked if they had anybody else have this problem and he said no (they did only just come out so you might not be the only one, but the pair I tried + the ones I bought seem fine).

This sounds encouraging, thank you! Any other thoughts on them? Are they comfortable to wear? And does the connection remain solid no matter how quickly you move your head around? :D

Yep they're excellent! Very comfortable and haven't fallen out (using the Comply ear tips), and audio hasn't dropped out when I shake my head around (wanted to try it at home before walking outside with them Laughing). They sound excellent too, and they don't have any audible background hiss unlike every other wireless Beoplay product I've owned (H7, H9, H5, and S3). Also worth noting, I can't see any delay/lag when watching videos either which is very welcome!

100% recommend them.

I returned my E8 today, and the Dealer said he totally understood.

I took the opportunity to get a pair of H9, as it will likely suit me better in the long term. I hope your experience with E8 continues to be great, Paulando!

Bummer.  I was hoping you did an exchange so we could hear if the issue was isolated to your first set.

I bought the E8 yesterday and they do sound beautiful.  I have zero issues at my office, inside the building, but I do have dropouts when walking outside if my phone is in my left front pocket.  To solve this, I put my phone in my right front pocket and the issue is fixed.  That said, is that worth the $299 USD price tag?  I'm still debating.  Sad because my Bragi Dash Pro earbuds have zero issues with connectivity in any pocket but the sound is far better with the E8.

Got an update on the E8s and it's not good unfortunately; I've been using them for almost all of yesterday and today (around 10hrs each day with 30% charge left afterwards on Fri and 15% today so the battery life claims on the box are right!).

I noticed yesterday that the right earphone sounded a quieter than the left around 70% of the time, if I pause and resume it sometimes kicks back in and works normally. I got home today and actually sat down and tried to work out if I have a broken right ear or a broken right earphone and (fortunately?) it's the earphone.

I tried playing various tracks and then swapped the earphones around and the right earphone was still quieter than the left when I had it in my left ear. I also went into Settings on my phone and slid the slider thing in accessibility for adjusting output between the left/right channel and when I had the slider all the way to the left it sounded loud, and when I slid it back to the right it sounded quiet. I then played the same tracks on my AKG earphones and my Beoplay H9s and they both sounded perfectly balanced so it's not the music.

Will be taking them back to my dealer on Monday (will likely ask for a replacement - will mull on it over the rest of the weekend). Quite disappointed because they're otherwise fantastic Sad

Sorry to hear that you are not getting on with them. I popped into my great dealer this afternoon (Chelmsford) and asked to borrow a pair, as I read this helpful thread last night and was a little concerned from reading some of the issues. I am sitting here now listening to them via a MacBook Pro (which having messaged B&O seems touch and go if they'd work) and they sound great and thankfully haven't had any dropouts all evening. If it carries on like this I will be ordering a pair first thing Monday morning.

Remember! The Bluetooth signal is *much* stronger on your MacBook Pro. To test properly, grab your iPhone and head outside. Strength is reduced, you get outside interference and more. And let’s face it, we’re more likely to use Bluetooth earbuds outdoors walking around....than in our homes.

So far so good with my pair.  Used them for 7 hours yesterday.  When they died it took about a half hour to charge them 50%.  Took some calls outdoors and indoors.  No issues.  Still a dropout here and there, but nothing major.  Went for a walk outside and no dropouts with my phone in my right pocket or in my left or right sportscoat pockets.

Sorry guys, just read my above post and it might have seemed a little condescending, it wasn’t meant that way. I bought my own pair today, having been loaned a pair over the weekend last week. At one point I was adamant they had a problem of vocals only coming via the left hand channel (listening to Diana Krall) but normal service was resumed selecting another album. So far so good, fingers crossed 🤞. 😬

Are the left/right issues still present after the release of software v5.2.0 for Beoplay E8?

SW released on Oct 26th.

I've found that there is a horrible lag with video. The sound is several seconds behind the picture. I'm returning my E8s for that reason. It's a shame, because they're comfortable, look good in your ears and above all - sound brilliant.

I was hoping that the software update on 26th was going to sort it, but alas. Apparently the Bose and the Sony wirefree sets suffer from the same lag. Will just have to wait for the technology to catch up!

I have had exactly the same problem with my E8's  as well , i got these from Dubai and i'm now back in my country that does not have a B&O store so i'm stuck with a dud product now.I have also tried them using an iPhone 7 and iPad pro 10.5" .

I’m having the same issues. Initially, very wobbly audio connection. Then I upgraded to the 5.2 firmware, and now the buds won’t connect with my phone at all. I get a message saying “Beoplay rejects pairing request”- not something I’ve seen before. The buds are completely useless. I have tried everything - restarting the buds, reinstalling the app, restarting the phone, turning BT on and off, all with the same result. This is very disappointing given how much these things cost.

But when they were working, the sound quality was amazing!

I’ve also recently bought the Bragi Dash Pro, which work really well - connect straight away, good sound, very sophisticated UI, will do many more things than the E8’s.

Having bought several B&O products and being very satisfied, I was very much looking forward to the E8. I have and enjoy A9, A2 Active and H5 (for my wife).
Unfortunately, a dreadful streaming experience with E8.
I had tested them several times before returning them. When they did work, I was very happy with the sound, and I liked the feel of the earphones and the touch controls.
I set them up on my phone and watch, and found that when I was exercising, mostly walking and a bit of running, music dropped out many times during each song, and occasionally there was an annoying popping sound when the streaming was broken.
My phone is iPhone 7 running iOS 11.0.3, and my watch is Apple Watch Series 2 running watch OS 4.0; these were the currently up-to-date versions at the time, mid-October. The watch was tested with 75 per cent battery life, and then at 100 per cent. The phone and earphones started with 100 per cent each.
To then be sure, I stopped my run, and deleted the Beoplay app from my phone and watch, and deleted the Bluetooth connections from my phone and watch.
Then I reloaded the Beoplay app and went through the Bluetooth setup again. There was no improvement in performance. When walking with my watch connected to the earphones, playback was interrupted many times during each song. When walking with my phone connected to the earphones, there were fewer dropouts, but still several times during each song. This ruined the exercise experience, which was the primary use-case for having wireless earphones.
When I was streaming from the watch, if I walked with my hands held behind my head, so that the watch was closer to the earphones, streaming performance improved but it did not eliminate the dropouts.
On the sofa, sitting still, there were infrequent but noticeable dropouts every few songs.
I wanted them to work and to be fantastic for exercising.
Back at the store where I purchased them, I tried another set and went for a run; I noticed repeated and frequent dropouts as described for the first pair of E8s.
The store gave me a full refund.

Just thought I’d post a follow up reply on here. I got a new pair of E8s on Friday (charcoal sand this time - figured that since they weren’t available right away at launch they might be a revised version or something - they did come with firmware v5.2.0 installed out-of-box too so maybe my hunch was right).

Having no problems at all so far. Volume seems to be balanced between the two earphones perfectly, no problems with drop outs when I’m walking and have my phone in my pocket, and there’s 0 lag with video voice sync (I didn’t have the latter two problems with my first pair, but thought it’s worth mentioning seeing how other people were/are having those problems).

So far so good!

Hi there,

Had the same exact issue. Trying re-pair ended up with no success. I did RESET it as described in here. It solved the issue.

so far so good, but I am still checking on it!

Just received my black pair of E8s earlier today and had to update the firmware to the latest one through the app. despite having played with them for a short while I ran into the same uneven volume issue you talked about. The left one also dropped out momentarily a few times when I went out with my phone (Google Pixel 2 XL) in my right pocket.

However I reset the headphones by pressing and holding on both touch panels for 10 seconds plus until I see the red LED flash (or hear the double beep if they are in your ear) and I can't seem to sense the unevenness any longer.

However I have another unresolved  issue with the Ambient Transparency setting that  I wanted to run by you to check and see if this is as per design or I have a faulty unit.

You know how in the Ambient setting under Transparency the music completely quiets down and you can hear the surrounding ambient noise including your own voice? well I can hear my own voice, but it is obviously only picked up by the microphone on the left earphone and not the right one. I can very clearly hear my digitized voice on the left unit and nothing on the right one. Is this how this should be working? it seems to me as if it is not functioning as intended.

Also another annoyance that is driving me insane is when I remove the right one from my ear, the left one goes quiet but the music is still being played back on the right one (the one which was removed). The left one resumes playback as soon as the right one is put back in. the opposite however is not true! if I remove the left one it stops playing back immediately however, the right one keeps on playing back at full volume! again, is this another design intent?

I would very much appreciate it if you could let me know if your unit is behaving the same or otherwise with regards to these two issues.

Thanks.

I recently bought mine from a B and O store. Despite some of the negative reviews I went ahead and purchased anyway. The initial setup was not smooth as I needed to reset the earphones to apply a software update, as it failed multiple times. I too experience the left earphone dropping out occasionally.

Once I eventually applied the v5.4.0 update I was hoping this would resolve the issue. It did not.

I sold my Apple Airpods as they do not fit in my ear and I find them uncomfortable. The syncing and connectivity was seamless, though.

The Bose SoundSport Free is not out in the UK yet so I thought I would go with these as they are a reputable brand and the design is stunning.

Thus far I am unimpressed. B&O need to up their game else I will be returning these and waiting for the Bose.

I use them on an iPhone 7 plus with the latest firmware.

I have both issues. The connectivity on the left earphone and also I remove the right earphone, the left stops playing and the right continues.

If I remove the left the only then the right continues playing.

IMO both should be paused upon removal of one. The same and prefered behaviour of the Apple Airpods.

It’s intentional sadly. It’s because the right one is the master earphone so unlike AirPods you have to either use both or the right one on its own - it’s rather annoying.

So far all my truly wireless buds (X1T, Bragi Headphones & Dash Pro, Beoplay E8) have a lag problem while using my Android (Samsung S8) phone. It's not really a pain but certainly noticeable. No problems while using them with iOS (Iphone SE). It's highly likely Apple's iOS is properly and successfully syncing the audio while playing videos.

Yup, same issue I have regarding finicky Bluetooth connections. Frequent dropouts while just turning my head to cross the road while phone is in my front right pocket. Gets worse when a light gust of wind blows my way. For each time the left bud 'pops' and loses connection for 1-2 secs, the music will then shift from center to the left. I needed to pause music, wait for 1-2 secs and resume to 'adjust' the sound back to center. These buds are strictly for indoor use only, coupled with your phone lying just next to you, and you best not make sudden movements or jerk away from your seat else you get another drop out.

But oy, the sound man....really makes it hard to return/refund them after sampling their sound for a few days. Just like being caught between a rock and a hard place.

I've had the problem with the left earpiece on TWO sets now (first set replaced).  Never any problem with the right.  Both times I've updated the firmware to 5.4.0 but hasn't fixed the issue.  Just to clarify, I don't believe this is an issue with Bluetooth as such, but the way B&O transmit the signal to the left (slave) earpiece from the right (master).

I agree. I've also updated to 5.4 version yet to no avail. Both E8 & Bragi's buds use NFMI so how is it that the Dash Pro and Headphones have a much more solid connection compared to the E8? I think it's confirmed that my unit isn't the prob but rather the shoddy QC by B&O. Face it, the E8s suck no matter how much I love the sound.

Does anyone have any fixes yet for this issue?

I unpaired and repaired my E8's which I thought it actually fixed it in the morning. But when i used it again on the commute home it was just dropping out again.

I'm gonna try contact B&O and the store i purchased from but not sure what they can do :( otherwise may have to return them

I just purchased my E8 pair over the holidays and have had multiple dropout problems between the two earpieces along with intermittent iPhone App connection issues (using my iPhone X). 😡🤬 Dropouts seem less frequent when streaming sound from my MacBook Pro. Firmware has been updated to v5.4, and the dropouts persist, however inconsistently.

Even worse, there is a noticeable lag time when watching video with spoken audio on the iPhone X. 😫Not as much on the MacBook Pro. I've read a similar issue somewhere on this forum and someone's response explaining the stronger Bluetooth signal on a MacBook. The technical explanation made sense of the discrepancy between devices, but did not help justify the problem, considering the investment.

Sound quality is good, but I'm obviously disappointed over the overall wireless quality so far. Just unacceptable for a $299 pair of earphones.

I'm honestly considering sending these back to Amazon and just settling for the Apple EarPods. Sound is subpar on Apple's, but at least they have solid, redundant wireless connectivity.

🤬😫

I ended up getting my pair exchanged by the store that i bought them from. They were very accommodating regarding the issue and sent me a new pair by next day delivery.

This pair i've had little to no issues regarding the left ear dropping out and thus its been good so far.

So far so good

Hi everyone

My issues don't seem as bad as others on this thread, but they are there. At least once a minute or so there is a short gap (one or both sides lose sound) or a fraction or a second. Not much, sure, but annoying.

I'm using a Pixel 2 XL

I was wanting to see if this is normal, or if people do actually have continuous connections. That is, should I return or exchange...

Thanks
