A very cosmetically minty Beomaster 8000 showed up at my door today.
It even came with the BT8000 remote
She's nearly flawless, no dents scratches, ALL LED's work, yup no missing segments.
Phono, Tape 1 and 2 all work fine Rotary encoder wheels for Volume and Tuner work as well.
The Tuner works, sort of.
1: In AUTO mode, I can change stations, however my display will stay at "91.7", I can cycle through the whole North American FM band, just my display stays the same.
2: In MANUAL, I can change the freq display back and forward using the rotary encoder, across the whole range, the digits respond fine and will change back and forward. However, I can recieve no stations while in manual mode, nothing but static.... until, the display hits exactly "91.5"
When that happens, all of a sudden, the stations "Zip" by, in an audio burst of a bout 1 sec each, the signal meter will rise and the mpx light will flash, then. nothing but static.
It's like the stations are coming in "delayed" from rotating the tuner dial, and then each station "hits" for about 1 sec once the display reaches "91.5"
So to sum up, AUTO mode, I can tune into a station, however the display must be locked in to 91.7 first, once that happens, I can tune normally, except the display will never change. In manual mode, although the freq display will change and follow the dial, I cannot get any stations at all until I hit 91.5, and then I get a quick 1 sec burst of each station I passed, then static again.
Also, if I have a station locked in, and I set the preset, when I return to the preset, the station is lost.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Hi,
Sounds very familiar

Still not solved, unfortunately
Happy reading!
By the way, you will see I am also a Nak fan myself! CR-4, 582, 480.
Jacques
Thanks for pointing that out.
Sorry for the both of us that we seem to have the same issue.
It's a shame, because otherwise this receiver is in excellent condition.
Yes, I guess my Nakamichi bias is showing.
I've got a Dragon, ZX-7, 682ZX, 582, RX-505, RX-202, and a wonderful warm sounding 700 Tri-Tracer
I've not forgotten B&O, as I've got Beocord's 5500, 8002, 9000.
Yes, I love tape.
Off topic, but: Beocord 9000, 5000 (both), 2200, Revox A77, G36 (two) added to the Naks!
I love tape too!
I am waiting for a microprocessor board for testing the Beomaster.
