My BC5000 has gone into a state of silence: no motor spinning, belts OK, display shows: 000 1. I met a person the other day, who, from his former B&O servicing experience, told me that there might be a faulty resistor in the erea that controls the relay, located someplace in the back section, near the big capacitors; he could not tell which R.Could anyone tell me which one he referred to before I start dismantling my beauty?.
Probably a 10 Ohm resistor working with one of the voltage regulators. It's not shown in all manuals but it sits (fitted radially) right next to the regulator, almost center at the bottom board in the power supply. It's a safety component, make sure to fit a flameproof type.

I found the 10 Ohm resistor and it turns out to be undamaged; however now that I opened the BC I applied an external 12V power supply to the motor and it did not spin. is this a correct testing method?.Could I replace this motor by a motor from a BC 6000 (or 8000) that I have as a donor; partnumbers 8400000 and 8400101 respectively.

Aad
I have a few original replacement motors in the drawer.
That ' s good news, if it means that you can send me one. Please give your price and I will pay you through Paypal
Aad, email or PM me.
Hi Martin
New motor is ok, however, it does not give 100% satisfaction: FF and REWIND do what they are supposed to do, PLAY engages the mechanism, but only a few turns as if something is trying to keep it from smoothly spinning. Whatever causes this, it does not effect the R20. Display indicates that the PLAY function is active. What else than a possible incompetent belt could be the culprit?
best regards
Are the belts new?Can you tell, if one or both belts are slipping?
Hi Martin,
I do not remember if the belts are new, I bought long time ago new ones , but I may have put them in my other BG 5000.
How can I see wether the belts slip, since, when the motor is activated by the PLAY key, the belts are out of sight ( underside of mechanism)
In order to test them I will first swop the belts with those of nr 2 BC, before I will come back to you for ordering new ones if necessary.
( meanwhile I spend some time on glueing a broken part of my BG 1800, for which I need some help through an other thread on the forum)
2 x BC5000's running with new belts from Dillen
I am very glad
