ARCHIVED FORUM -- March 2012 to February 2022READ ONLY FORUM
This is the second Archived Forum which was active between 1st March 2012 and 23rd February 2022
After reading some posts I made a pm to dillen. Right after i realized there was no activity of his after 2012, so I guess I better ask publicly here...
I try to fix a friend 's device. What I pm'd to dillen:
Hi. I saw an old post about you selling kits of bulbs for beomaster 1900-2
I am interested.
Do you still sell them?
The volume is fading to zero after turning on. I suspect the bulbs, after reading some in the forum.
Also, the system has a hum in the audio. I suspect bad caps in the power supply?
Idid not open the device yet, how can I get a service manual?
Dillen (Martin) is still active on the forum, I am sure he will contact you. He's a very busy person :)
I'm right here. You have been visiting the archived forum, it sounds.
Several kits are available for Beomaster 1900 / 2400. Email/PM me (in this forum). Is the volume indicator lamps correct and both working?
Martin
Thanks.
Right, I was in the archive..
So, I am currently not near the device anymore.
If I recall correctly, there were no lights on the volume side.
At first there was only the hum issue. Following an advice somewhere online, I switched the voltage from 240 to 220 (advice was the other way round)... I am Super embarrassed to say I did that under power... Meaning I went to 130V first, blowing the 1.6A main fuses.
My professional time in electronics seems way too long ago to practice on my friends devices...
After replacing, I was fiddling some with the controls, when suddenly the volume - downturning started... (or was it there after the fuse replacing? I doubt, but won't swear on my reliability after what I just did)
Maybe the lights were there before ( doubt it), and i broke a bulb shaking the device?
About the lights being correct, i can't tell as i have no manual and am not familiar with b&o. How should they behave?
The two volume indicator lights should balance up and down in light output with equal light at apprx normal "livingroom" level.Higher volume level and the right lamp is brighter and vice versa.
The electronic volume circuit depends greatly on correct and working lamps so that'll be the first thing to check/replace.
Dillen, I got your first mail, but never heard anything after the answers i sent. Are you away, or are my mails ending up in some spam filter?
Please send again.
Just did so, from 2 different accounts...
I sent you a new email.
