Have you tried to factory reset your soundcenter?

I got the problem too with no sound after the latest update, ending up making a factory reset of the sound center.

Afterwards I find out that the problem was related to “Clip Protection” a function which is turned ON by default, but in my case turned OFF because I have recognized it cut off the lower bass to my BL5 speakers.

But after this software update it is no longer possible to disable the function, if doing so it will replace the sound with a high frequency tone, which will not disappear before turning the function back ON again and restart the TV.

I lately also has experienced, several times the remote has lost the communication to the TV and need to be re paired, sometimes it’s necessary to make a factory reset to the Beoremote before it is possible to successfully pair the two.

I already has contacted my B&O dealer and even B&O too, so just hope they very soon will come up with a solution.

Hi, I have also a problem with my Eclipse after latest software update (2.7.xxx). The standby-indicator that always lights green when playing a music-source (Deezer or Music DLNA) dont light up at all anymore when playing music source and the screen is black. In the Manual for the Eclipse it says that the standby-indicator always should be green when the screen is off and when a music-source is played.

This software error is not a big thing, but they have done a lot of things with the soundcenter with the new software and I can NOT see any improvements at all. Just negative things with the new software. I hope B&O reads all this comments and make a fix.

The bad thing about B&O and software is that it always take so long time to fix an error in the software compared to other brands. I wonder if B&O ever will be good at software in their products. It is now many years with bad software in different products (Beovision 14, Beolab 50, Beosound Moment etc....).

Yes it seems like they have done a lot with the sound center and for what reason and just agreeing, hope really B&O read everything in this tread.

Another thing I experienced after this software update is that a bad sounding noise can appear in the speakers when turning the system off.

Yesterday I was visiting a friend who has a LG C7 65 inch.

Out of curiosity I asked him for the current sw version of his tv - 05.80.35:

On my own Eclipse 55 inch I have version 03.60.45:

It looks like the Eclipse sw is back level compared to LG C7.

I have seen updates to the sound center sw, but not to the screen part of the Eclipse.

Does anybody know if the sw for screen part of the Eclipse is frozen or still being updated by LG or B&O ?

Best regards - Dyssegaard

Yes it’s a special version of the OS. But we are missing out on a lot of goodies with the latest versions I’m afraid.

It is a shame that B&O is not upgrading the LG OS! Why? If it is due to B&O related interface I wonder how future proof the Harmony will be

I think the LG update is independent of harmony just like LG and soundstage

That is the beauty of the Harmony, the software of the WebOS platform is fully controlled and managed by LG, interface to B&O is handled with an app on WebOS. So no worries here any more. Only downside is that LG is not known for keeping older TV's up to date.

Not having the latest version is frustrating and concerning, less to do with new goodies, because they’re isnt anything interesting, but the latest rev does cover an important security issue.

If B&o doesnt issue an update in the next couple of months, my recommendation would be to take your Eclipse off the network and use the Apple TV for content, including both Netflix and Amazon Prime. It delivers better processing performance, privacy is more clear and the software is updated every couple of weeks whilst in Beta mode.

This is a problem with all these smart TVs. Youve got to ask yourself how manufacturers sell these huge displays at these prices. Ask yourself - Where is the subsidy coming from? As with many things nowadays You are the product.

Just as an example Eclipse Soundcentre 55" with LG 77" C9 with Bang & olufsen App works perfect

The only connections are exactly as Eclipse. One network cable from Eclipse to LG TV and one HDMI from Eclipse to LG HDMI 2 (ARC).

Very good to know,

Actually a very good price for a Center speaker and preamp solution.

I totally agree, a very good solution for a center speaker with full B&O device support (PUC, HDMI, Speakers, WiSA etc). I really hope that B&O will make at least a version close to this with Beosound Stage! =)

In an other thread you state that this works to 99%.

Perhaps the missing 1% is the reason why there is no official recommendings for this from B&O.

A good price is relative - if you have to buy an Eclipse 55” and then put the 55” screen aside for mounting a 77” it isn’t that good a price imo.

I think any dealer will sell the Soundcenter as a separate item if you ask them nicely

The Soundcenter even has it's own list price (3.168 euro in Germany)... Seems like as a fair price.

Maybe the Eclipse 2nd Gen will be flexible enough to be used both as full BeoVision and as separate Soundbar?

Actually the missing 1% is as far as I know are bugs that exists for Beovision Harmony which is more or less an Eclipse with LG C9.

Might be - but there is always a chance that they will resolve that for the Harmony.

However, will this also happen for a diy-Eclipse-C9/the SoundCenter?

@spezializten

How does it look from behind?

How (well) do the two parts fit together?

Not a big problem, when people want it wallhanged, but many want theit tv on the stand....preferedly to turn it also.

When I bought my Eclipse ~2 years ago, there was a separate line item (each with a price) for the screen and soundcenter. Therefore I would not
 read too much into this.

I have used two separate mounting kits:

The Sound Center is mounted with the ordinary SCREEN brackets (which is meant to be used for the 55" LG monitor) but I have made a special solution for wall mounting. Will add some photos of this later. Didn't dare to mount the entire Sound Center in these brackets and screw them into the LG Monitor (Because of the weight). LG TV (40kg) + Sound Center(35kg)

The LG Monitor is mounted with the bracket in the picture. I need to have access to allt the cable connections inside the electric box the wall. 16 x Cat7, Power outlets etc.

Spezializten, did you manage to install the Bang & Olufsen app on the LG to get full control of everything with the Beoremote, or it's just a Harmony-compatible software and you just stick with the LG remote ?

When I wrote 99% I meant the fully B&O functionalities! =)

BeoRemote is working with all Sources, Speakers, Sounds, Light, Picture, LG Sources, LG HDMI. (Right now only Favorite Buttons and Home Control Webpage isn't working). But I think that might be a bug for Beo with ex Harmony as well?!

BeoRemote can also control the LG functions, like mouse cursor, movement etc. The Beo App (iOS) is working perfect and also the connection with BLGW and all controls.

I think that Sound Center is using the Remote Control API for LG in some way to control everything.

And the problem with “Clip Protection” is finally solved. Hopefully other problems from the previous software update are solved too.

Unfortunately Bang & Olufsen’s support line is very hard headed to communicate with, it’s simply impossible to have a constructive conversation, especially if you have knowledge yourself at technician level. They will never, never admit there possibly has been flaws in one of there software updates, the dialog will turn to pure nonsense if you confront them.

Hi,

With the software update yesterday there is still problem with Stand-by indicator when playing music (Deezer, DLNA). With the software 2.5.xxx and earlier, the standbyindicator always had a green light when playing a Music-source. From software 2.7.xxxx the standby-indicator sometimes lights up when starting a Music-source but after 10 minutes it go off (black). I have send this software bug to B&O-support but nothing happens.

It is not a big deal but I agree that it is impossible to make a decent conversion with B&O and their support-team.

Does anyone know if this is a staggered release? My Eclipse 55 is still on 2.5.31533 even though it has automatic updates enabled, however this is the s/w version being displayed via both the TV and B&O app...any ideas/suggestions appreciated.

Same on my side but I am located in Canada. Perhaps the update is released region by region. With all the various problems reported here with the new version, I have disabled the automatic updates until a stable version is released. It will also be a good thing to check the changelog of the new version to see if new features have been added or a list of the bugs fixed.

Also in the last 10-14 days I have noticed that if I Initially use the B&O app for turning on the eclipse and playing music using deezer there is no sound from the eclipse. You can see the volume bar on the right go up and down but there is no sound output.

If I start the eclispe using the beo remote and select TV on hdmi2 and then use the B&O app sound is then output from the eclipse.

I had the problems the other users mention with no sound output back in the beginning of Feb,

Lastly has anyone experienced problems using 4k UHD sources and getting them to display on their eclipse?

I have a 65” eclipse.

Thanks.

I have one of the very first Eclipse 65", and had some issues playing 4K HDR via HDMI through the SouncCenter early on. They changed a small ciercut board, but that didn't help. But it turned out the HDMI cables I used were too bad a quality, after changing them it has worked fine.

I own a 55" Eclipse since about 1 year now and I have no problems splaying 4K UHD videos from either the built-in media player or Youtube. HDR, HLG HDR and Dolby Vision videos all play without any problems (Youtube videos can be only HDR or HLG HDR ). For audio, a Dolby Atmos soundtrack plays properly if it is wrapped in a Dolby Digital plus container. A computer outputting 4K resolution connected via HDMI works also.

When playing something using Wifi, don't forget to put the "listening mode" to off in the menus as it eats bandwidth.

Regards,

Jean
