I have a pair of Beolap 8000 speakers that i would like to connect an iPhone directly to through the line input. Eventually I might use an Airport Express instead and make it wireless.
Anyway, i tried to connect the iPhone with a standard RCA-minijack cable but nothing happens - the speakers doesn't turn on. I have tried playing music at all volumes.
I tried both speakers although only one at the time since the cable I have for now is too short but I don't suppose that would make a difference.
Am I doing something wrong - could they both be broken(!?)
Hope someone can help me out...

Unlikely (but not impossible)
Did you set the input selector for "L" , "R" and "LINE" of both BLb 8000s to "LINE" ?
Thanks, I was doing something wrong then. I did try both the L and R setting, but didn't realize I could push the switch further down. I expected that I could have both the regular input cable from my B&O stereo and the "line in" in use at the same time – and that the speaker would switch to line in by itself if there where a signal there, and none from the main powerlink input of cause.
This complicates things a bit. I still use my stereo and speakers together. The iPhone/Airport Express solution seemed very appealing though – but if I have to use a switch on each speaker everytime I change the input, that's no good.
Any ideas or solutions for me?

Unfortunately you did not mention your speakers are already connected to a B&O audio system.
A much more straightforward solution will be connecting an iDevice or Airport Express directly to the Audio-Aux of your B&O Stereo via B&O 3,5mm Minijack <> DIN 7 pin cable.Your B&O dealer should have it on stock - if not he can order it from the B&O. B&O Part Nr is 6277956 and it retails for for 15-20 EUR.
The new B&O Playmaker will be a more flexible (DNLA capable) and better sounding alternative to the AE.
I already have my TV attached to the B&O through the AUX. I can stream to an Apple TV attached to the TV, but that's 3 devices I have to turn on before I can use my my iPhone for music.
I wanted a simple and easy way to get the music going - just from my iPhone - and not needing to have the TV turned on.
I'd really appreciate any ideas solving my issue.

Simplest way would be to connect sound from all devices through an amplifier

Any other "surprises" in your setup ? I'd have really appreciated, if all these relevant informations had been mentioned in your original post.
The Playmaker will be the perfect solution for that as it offers an additional LINE IN.Connect Playmaker to A.AUX of your audio system and the TV to the LINE IN of the Playmaker.
Playmaker offers auto switching between streaming and line input.
Another solution would be to by an AUX splitter by Steve at SoundsHeavenly. I have a similar setup at home.
This setup should work if you do not use the devices at the same time.
