Below is a shameless copy of a PR from the offical B&O website:

"

B&O PLAY stages global launch events to present the newest member of the B&O PLAY product family

B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen will soon launch a new premium product - the most powerful performer in the B&O PLAY range to date.

The new product will be presented during global launch events which are being kicked off in New York followed by events in London, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam on 3 and 4 October.

"

Does anyone know what this is all about??Idea

BAH !

Global means FIVE continents or TWO hemispheres or something better than two sides of the Atlantic pond !!!!

List should clearly include the nearest large city to EVERY Beoworlder, including Melbourne Big Smile

And more seriously, how can you have a global launch and not include a single Chinese city ... even Hong Kong would have been a very smart idea !

I haven't checked out the PR yet. But if it is only those five cities, I wouldn't call it 'Global launch'...Laughing

If B&O release a high performance, high value, AV active speaker to sit in the Beoplay range, this could be very exciting news indeed, for somebody like me as a new B&O owner, and a BeoPlay owner at that.

If the price and performance was right, similar to what the V1 TV series offers, it would allow me to fairly quickly establish a NEW and COMPLETE  B&O AV system built around the BeoPlay product line, and to be able to finally sell off my existing separates system, which is co-existing currently in piecemeal fashion with my V1, and either bank the funds from the sale of that separates system, or put them towards other B&O products, or B&O AV products further up the performance line.

Currently, the only option to high performance, but expensive speakers in the B&O line to build upon the virtues and capabilities of the V1 with respect to a full AV BeoPlay system, is to buy second hand if wishing, as I am, to put a full B&O AV system together in one hit and at  - relative to the 'high end' - moderate cost.

In my humble opinion, it makes a great deal of sense if B&O were to develop some high performance, and high value products re speakers under the BeoPlay moniker, and would likely be very successful for them, as they must surely be losing some sales to the second hand market, given the high cost of entry to B&O's speakers when viewed not as an standalone stereo pair, but as an AV set. i.e. at least two pairs of preferably matching speakers, plus sub, needing to be bought at the outset to establish a matching, B&O AV speaker system.

The V1 offers exceptional performance and rates very highly on the value for money scale in my humble opinion (and yes, I'm biased, but then if my extensive research prior to purchase had not lead me to appreciate that fact, I would not have likely bought one) and for a speaker to possibly be released that may well offer a similar very high performance/value for money ratio as per the V1, is very exciting news IMHO!

Fingers crossed!

Best Regards

John... Cool

Now that hint is way to subtle for me !

what does B&O do that has something round ...

- cona ?

- BeoVox ?

- BL11 ?

- BC2 ?

- BS3000 ?

- BS5é ?

- Beograms ?

If it were  Smile  Smile then I would have said a new Beosound 8 !

SRM's details are interesting ........

I am not sure I understand how a "here will be Passive Speakers with an Active-Sub" would work - or why one would want one, unless the passives are pre-existing non-B&O speakers

Hey elephant,

i took yesterday my repaired BEO6 from my Dealer.

But i couldn´t go until i asked about the new products. Big Smile

He told me that he goes to Munich next week, so there is the launch of the new products for the Dealers.

This was his answer about the new Products:

1) A new TV (in his opinion a real B&O TV - no Beoplay)

2) The new Beoplay "moveable" Speakers (he meant it will be come on a Tripod Stand)

3) Even, the Beoplay Surround Set (which will works how the Bose CineMate and/or the Accousticmas- System.
About the "Look" of this Product he had no answer :-(.  There will be an active Subwoofer and some Passive Satellite-Speakers.

4) The New "Premium" Beosound (which he had also no Information about  the Features and the Look)

Personally, i don´t know of veracity of this facts.!!!!!!!!

I hope - and my Dealer too :-), that that will be the right way for the future of B&O!

Because what´s about the update of current Products (Yes, me ledges Issue - BS5E and so on)??

The 9 after the A indicates that it is a more expensive product than the A8.

I would suppose a more powerfull too.

The A8/formerly the BS8 is/was nicknamed "Dolly Parton".

You wrote "BIG" - but what is/who is bigger than Dolly Parton Whistle

Hehe, you're absolutely right Paul - I'm Veeeery excited to say the least!

Of course, much is conjecture and we won't know until a few days, but if B&O bring out a floorstanding BeoPlay speaker with a high performance/value ratio to match the V1 TV  series, then rather than buy second hand Lab series speaker, I will more than likely buy a set of the new BeoPlay ones.

I'm also very excited for B&O generally - I can't remember when there's been such a broad range release of products from B&O, and I truly hope this is the start of a resurgence of the brand and the brand's image and consumer recognition.

I've made a commitment to B&O now, and am here for the long haul, and really really want to see the company grow and prosper - I find so much to admire and respect about B&O on so many different levels, and that they have been struggling a little over the last few years has been a concern, so if new products launches them into new areas and new recognition from the consumer, then I just think it is wonderful news full stop!

Best Regards

John.... Cool

I KNEW that you would be excited John!!!!!

Don't worry, it's pretty clear that B&O have a future with Tue steering!!! B&O were close to bankruptcy in the 70s, the 80s and the 90s and more recently due to pure arrogance, so it's nothing new to worry about John. Now that they've woken up from their very long sleep and realised how the market is dictating sales, i'm sure that it has a future!!!  It's really nice that you are so happy with your V1 purchase - very refreshing! Although, had I been living in Aus, I would have dragged you to the beach for surfing 24/7!!!!! :)   Enjoy!

Steffen, the OP tells it clearly, Bang & Olufsen did neither announce a new BeoSound audiosystem
nor did they announce a BLb 5 killer -  they simply announced the new top of the line product of the
B&O PLAY family.

I'm a bit confused. How is the UK launch tonight, but the Beoplay page says 1 days 19 hours to launch? Surely they do understand the use of the internets where users announce information themselves? These days it's impossible to launch in one country and keep it under wraps!

My dealer hasn't sent out an invitation for any UK launch tonight, although I do have an invitation for the TV launch on Oct 10th.
