My Essence MKII and BS1 are both stopping to operate unexpectedly when playing through Deezer. Then they’re not even playing through Bluetooth so it’s not a WiFi issue. Very frustrating when showing friends my new £1,000 speaker and can’t even connect to it!!!

I had the same at the weekend Chris, nothing worked on my BS2 - deezer, tunein, AirPlay... I did a factory reset in the app and signed back into deezer and all worked fine again - also sent the feedback in on the app.

Very frustrating!!

My BS2 just got updated to 1.15.17527.  Hopefully this will fix some of the issues.

My Essence MKII and BeoSound 1 have been upgraded too. As has the B&O app which now looks great on iPhone X!!! Only had a very brief play but both these things seem great - multi-room actually works very slick. Or it seems to be better anyway!! Fingers crossed...

Sorry to say but even after the event update, my BS2 has just done exactly the same as it did at the weekend.

The previous 6 months of ownership were faultless.

Painful.

While my BS2 seems to be okay my BS1 which got the same update is still having issues.  I had to power-cycle it yesterday evening to get it produce sound.  It also seems to cut out in the middle of long tracks now.

I reported similar problems to Beocare, with logs and all.

Nov 17 they replied that technicians found the probable cause and an update would be addressing this in approx two weeks time.

That would mean first week in December I guess...

I'm pretty sure my BeoSounds were updated again (they made the noise) but the first part of the version numbers look the same.  So far no misbehaving, though the gap between tracks seems a lot bigger.

Now have a newer version

Got that in my A6 last weekend(?) and I found no problems during the little testing I did.

However, it needed a proper reboot (unplugging from mains) after the update.

My A6, M5 & M3 run three different FW versions. They report latest FW.

Using B&O app 1.3.0.10740 ios 11.1.2. WiFi all devices. 40-100 Mbit measured on device location. Ran ping-agent monitoring software to ensure my internet is up while testing. 5 secs between pings. Up all the time while testing and while I got the crashes I describe below.

Deezer HIFi:

Main device (A6) crashes after 10-15 min, when playing multiroom.

Main device crashes, if I scrub or press to move between numbers.

App freezes when these crashes happen.

Must cut power to device(s) and close app to get things going again.

Slow loading long playlist. Phone gets warm.

Radio:

Tested that Multiroom can play the all day. No problems. Kept on playing.

Hi,

one quick question: are all problems now solved with the *27 firmware?

Mine started with the update to that firmware and I have to power cycle my BeoSound 2 every morning ;-(

Are they working on further updates or are there workarounds (no the power cycle one) available?

Any assistance appreciated.

Best regards

After thinking they were, mine aren't working that great. My Essence MKII froze up the other day and multi-room is being very patchy - even though they all say they have 'excellent' wireless connections.

Does anyone have a decent way of rebooting these products - I really wish they'd add 'restart' as a command in the setup app.

Similar experiences with multi-room.

I would really welcome a ‘reboot’ button!

Update from Struer:

Last version didn't solve all the issues. The sw team has been working hard on this, and they will continue to work on the identified tasks through the weekend and will issue another update next week (ie week 50). This update will still have issues with wifi and multi-room, but will solve the following:

  • The WiFi connectivity that often drops, especially on the Beoplay A6, Beoplay A9, BeoSound Essence Box (2ndgen.) and BeoSound 35
  • An issue that in some cases would lead into a “no sound” situation
  • Deezer sometimes re-requesting credentials
  • Issues with multiroom

I’m on 1.15.17474 on the A6. I take it, that’s the ‘last version’ they are referring to. Thanks for the update.

Thanks for sharing!

I got similar reply from customer care.

My A6 is already behaving better now I would say.

My BS2 works fine (but not for multiroom) but a daily power cycle is still needed, my BS1 can't find the BeoPortal after the latest sw update (and if this is the same issue as with the BS35 where a missing key for authorization is causing this, the product will have to be returned) and does not work at all - the Essence mk2 drops Deezer log-in credentials, has wifi issues but works after a power cycle. The Moment has intermittent sound drop-outs. The TV's are operating fine.

Looking forward to next weeks sw-update.

New firmware released Dec 5th, distributed by automatic download today (Dec 6th).

I have played around with it on the devices that are updated (one of my BS1´s isn't updated yet). I'm not sure if this release is worse, but it is not bringing any improvements to my experience. Products are still close to useless.

The Beoplay A6 and Beoplay A9, a software roll-back for all customers to the older, but stable, v.1.15.17640. is now available.

The other products have new firmware as follows:

    - For BeoSound Essence Box (2ndgen.) and BeoSound 35: v. 1.15.17881
    - For Beoplay M5, BeoSound 1, BeoSound 2: v. 1.15.17882
    - For Beoplay M3: v. 1.0.17913
    - For BeoSound Core: v. 1.0.17912

Forgot to mention my current issues:

Products not reachable according to the B&O app, sound drops out (the "no sound" syndrome is still there) and the products re-starts frequently with the now familiar ding-dong-sound. Pulling the plug is still required to actually re-start the devices and get them out of a grid-lock-state.

Disappointed.

I’m confused. Isn’t A6s 1.15.17640 out today, the newest version available for the A6?

No, the current version is v.1.15.17881 - the xx640 is an older version.

Rolling back will have a few downsides:

    - Chromecast built-in will not work with the roll-back software
    - The improvements that were done on the Essence Remote connectivity will not be included in the roll-back software
    - Deezer Hi-Fi will work, however, the “Hi-Fi” indication on the Bang & Olufsen app will not be visible (i.e. it will not be clear to the customer that he is playing Deezer Hi-Fi)
    - Might experience some issues with multiroom.

Ditto. Can someone explain the fw naming scheme? I just got ‘downgraded’ from 17474 (with flac indicator) to 17640 (no flac indicator) on my A6. How can one tell 640 is older than 474?

Thanks Smile
